Rated 1 out of 5 by Ann J from Horrible set up, major issues with connecting to internet, even stumped geek squad I bought 6001 printer yesterday from best buy to go with my hp envy desktop. Following the set up instructions, immediately an error message appeared to call an 800 number for set up. The 800 number was only a hard core sales pitch for more software purchases. Unsuccessful in setting up this printer on my wifi, I called geek squad and paid them another $40 to set it up. It took the geek squad 2 hours to connect this printer on line. This printer has major issues for set up, I usually have no problems doing this, but this printer took the geek squad tech 2 hours. Pretty disappointed with this so far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by memeandmorememe from Work in progress same printing quality as Epson. Epson eco tank is easier to load down the software and drivers. HP 123 did not load down for me it kept taking me into Microsoft store for some reason. I finally ended up loading down from my computer from add a printer could of done this in 2 minutes but messing with the 123 hrs. trying to figure out the problem. I bought the HP over Epson Eco Tank which I had and never worked well for me because Hp has the printer head cartridges and Epson does not going to see if this works better. Can't really say if it is going to work for me just got it. Have come to the conclusion that printers only last about a year and then u have to buy another one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Virginia Beach Tech from Are you tired of purchasing HP expensive cartridges? Think about this! I am so tired of the expensive ink cartridges. I purchased the Smart Tank 6001 to try to mitigate the cost. I really have no idea how much ink is in HP cartridges, but they seem to become empty at the worst time. With the Smart Tank printers, you get 4 individual bottles of ink. You can see the volume and the amount is printed on the bottles. Even though I have been in the IT field since the 1970s, I found installing the printer to be cumbersome. I did get through it and so far, I am happy with the printer. Figuring out how to install the print heads and the actual ink took a while. They are into big pictures/drawings with few words. There were parts that had to be removed and thrown away. I really did not like the driver/software installation process. I wanted to just download the installation software, so I could move the printer around to other computers if i need to in the future. But you have to install an HP App from the App Store and install while on-line. I installed with a USB cable vice wireless connection. I can print even is my internet/router are having problems. I already purchased replacement ink and it was less than a black cartridge and 3 color cartridges. While I am not sure of the projected life of the print heads which look similar to ink cartridges, I think this will be less costly in the long run. Only time will tell.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Gipp from HP6001 first two weeks of usage The HP brand is worldwide renowned, in my experience their printers have always lasted years. When contemplating the purchase of this HP 6001, it seemed like a no brainer the savings in ink alone should pay for the printer. The print quality seems excellent and fairly fast. Hopefully the printer will last as long as other HP printers I have owned. My only negatives are the instruction manual is horrible, the LCD screen is hard to see, and isn’t backlit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by T. Quealy from Printer Setup was a Disaster Out of the box, the printer would not perform the initial setup process. Had to contact HP Support by phone and spend 2.5 hours with them while they troubleshot the problem. HP Support eventually got the printer to perform the printer setup process and the printer has been working like a charm ever since. Review would have been five stars had the printer initially setup properly.

The online installation was good; however, I wonder if I can print when the internet is down? It seems so but I'm not sure. Printer is more solid that previous printer (HP Envy). I was able to print from several devices in the household network, with different operating systems.

Rated 1 out of 5 by crooked prints from Prints crooked, HP solutions also crooked There's fully half as many 1 star reviews as 5 star reviews, currently. That's a lot of fails. Mine prints crooked out of the box, and is unfixable. There is no way to get the printer cartridges to wander back out to the center to pop the hood on them and try reseating them, and I have tried every other imaginable thing in the manual, suggested by Support, or found by Googling. Turns out a lot of HP printers print crooked, and have for years! Worse is that it is a huge hassle to return. They make you jump through many hoops before giving you an RMA number to avoid a hefty restocking fee on their broken gear. I wasted hours and HOURS trying to get the print aligned before getting tangled up in tech support. Another red flag is that, when I went to register the printer, I learned that it had already been registered to someone else six months ago, and therefore was NOT A NEW PRINTER and probably was returned for the same reason I am returning it. If all of that is not enough, there also is no way to empty the printer of ink to move the printer. The instructions warn that you must carefully tip toe around the house keeping the printer absolutely level in order to move it from room to room with the ink installed. Now HP wants me to pack that up on it's side in the original box, and ship it FED EX back to them, without removing the ink, with no way to stop the ink from leaking, no suggestions whatsoever! After selling these for a couple of years, has it not occurred to HP to set up an agreement with a retailer like Best Buy to accept HP's ink tank printer returns locally? If this printer leaks ink all over my car, I will be livid. I am already pre-livid just thinking about it, having wasted so many hours trying to align the printheads to no avail., and a couple more with tech support who deems the printer dead before transferring me to Customer Service to beg to return it without a restocking fee. Other than that, the print and scan quality is nice. And I have no trouble printing and scanning from my Mac desktop (M1) and iPhone. I have no problem with WiFi, and use a Plume mesh system. Both of these conditions (Apple stuff, and mesh WiFi connectivity) are the subject of complaints in other reviews. But I did immediately update the firmware upon setup and I made sure my phone set up and my desktop setup in the apps were the same. I will never buy another printer online unless it is from Amazon. It is utterly ridiculous to make customers BEG to return a broken (and apparently used) printer after they have spent hours and hours trying to get the thing to work and suffered through the hassle of tech support, which seems to consist of reading a teleprompter anyway. Why not just publish online the dialogue that they are reading, so we can directly fix things without waiting on hold for 40 minutes, and you also won't have to pay those employees? Anyway, now I will be mailing "liquids" without any caps, installed in the printer, via Fed Ex, and I suppose I am supposed to lie about this in order to get it mailed or what am I supposed to do? I had to call tech support AGAIN to ask them that question. And since there was no teleprompter dialogue on this particular issue, they insisted that I should indeed burden Fed Ex with the ensuing ink spill and ruined shipments of other Fed Ex customers. Yet Fed Ex will hold THE SENDER liable and NOT THE RECIPIENT: HP. All of this shows lack of forethought on HP's part, and for this reason I will not be buying anything HP in the future. Get a local repository for these printers, or come up with a way to remove the ink for return shipping. This is totally irresponsible, likely illegal, and now you've roped me into being an accessory. If this review is not published by HP, I am sending it instead to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Rated 4 out of 5 by SharonLP from Hard to follow instructions for set up While I finally got the printer set up the instructions could have been more detailed. Some of the instructions were missing. I guess HP assumed it was intuitive. For that reason I gave the 4 star rating because HP said it was an easy set up and it wasn’t.

Plus the design of the printer makes it easy to place anywhere in my home office. I thought I might miss not having a document feeder, but I realized that I had little use for this option and this unit is the best!

Every time I need to print something my laptop informs me that the printer is offline and therefore unable to print. When I check the printer the printer the wifi icon is on. I have tried all that is recommended to fix the problem, and the only solution is to restart my computer EVERY time I have to print something...what a pain and to boot, my laptop is an HP! I recommend you purchase this item if you want to experience elevated blood pressure and more stress or better yet recommend this item to your enemies! LOL.

Disappointed the printer isn't compatible with Microsoft Scan and Fax and with the fact it wouldn't correctly print 70 lb weight 4x6 photo paper (needs to be thinner). Nevertheless, am happy with the printer and would buy it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Love my new smart tank! I've only had this set up a couple of weeks, but I'm already loving it. I was nervous about filling the ink tanks. Thought I'd probably drip ink all over or, at the very least, have ink all over my hands. Nope. Not one drop. I followed the instructions and it worked like magic. First print was perfect. Beautiful. Easy set-up. I'm glad I bought this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dadisnuts101 from So far, a solid and reliable printer Out of the box, this printer took me about 20 minutes to set up and get running. I bought it to replace another HP printer/scanner we had for years. I purchased the Smart Tank 6001 when I noticed it had a self healing wifi connection. Our old printer, from day one, had issues working on wifi after it had been on for a long period of time. You had to turn it on and off and fight with it for a while before it would start working again. So far, since we turned this printer on a few weeks ago, it has had no connectivity issues. Along with the eco-tank for ink savings, I am very happy with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by bittyben from ALL IN ONE IS ALL FOR ME I received this printer to give my honest opinion on using it. I have had it for 1 week and am just delighted how easy it is to use and what I've been missing by having a crappy printer none the less colored copies are amazing. The printer was very easy to set up and the instructions were so detailed with the hp bar code, it walked you through every step and you couldn't continue until you had done it properly. The quickness of the printer and copies black or colored are amazing. I also like the ink bottles because I won't have to replace them as often. Thank you so much for allowing me to voice my opinion, it was a pleasure

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cattyrose from HP Smart Tank 6001 All in One I received this product to review and offer my honest opinion. I first was amazed on how nice it looks. I expected something small with out much detail but this printer as my sis said "looks fancy" I love that it was easy to install and all the ink that came with it. Just so you know it is easy to fill the tank with the ink no worries about spilling or leaving extra ink in the container. It did take me a minute to work on the wireless part but thats because it wouldn't pick up my signal. Once I got through that I was fine. I use it for work and it prints nicely, bold and colorful without smudges. I also like the fact that I can print on both sides of the paper without having to turn the sheet around. My other printer doesn't do that. I have always preferred HP products and this is no exception. Only thing left to try is the scanner. I would love to be able to scan more than one page at a time but still trying out the printer. I definitely recommend this to everyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bunigirl5 from Great printer with user friendly options I received the HP Smart Tank printer in return for my review. I prefer HP printers and was happy to try it out. It was a pretty easy, straight forward set up thanks to the instructions. It's easy to load paper and looks like it will be easy to refill the tanks. Print quality is very good. Crisp and bright. And the printer is pretty quiet, which is nice. Overall, this is a great printer and I expect to save quite a bit of money with the refillable tanks. I have used the HP Instant Ink for a few years but feel this printer will be just as cost efficient.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Msoley from Just Read the Directions! I am loving this printer. The instructions were very easy to follow and set up only took a few minutes. I had some issues getting it connected to my internet, but that could be on my end - not the printer. A small downer is that the chord to the printer is rather short. I had to use an extension chord to accommodate where I wanted to place the printer. Everything was rather easy to install. Pouring in the ink was super easy and the tubes have a splash guard on them so there is zero mess. Genius! putting in paper and the printed outcome are also excellent and no brainer which is what you are looking for when installing technology, right? Sit back and enjoy printing!
