The documentation does not clearly point out that the paper feed is not in the usual place in the bottom front of the printer, but in a hidden flap on the rear. After days of attempting to set up the printer, I accomplished the set up and a paper jam occurred. In attempting to clear the jam, the two cartridges (yes, in addition to the ink tanks, there are two cartridges) became disabled, making the printer inoperable. I attempted to buy new replacements at Staples. They didn’t know that they existed. The HP store on line didnt carry them. I ordered them from Amazon with a promised date of a month. I was so worn out from the problems, I returned the printer to HP and purchased a non tank printer from HP that was easily set up and running in less than an hour.

The only thing so far I do not like is the ink cartridge inside keep giving an error message check cartridge or replace, we are tired of that. The cartridge is me so not sure why yet. It’s not fast printing but so far good picture quality!

It took me about 20 minutes to unbox it, put the ink in, set it up and download the app. I've been printing, scanning, copying and faxing almost everyday since March and it works beautifully and fast! I've had no issues yet and the size isn't much bigger than my previous printer which was just a basic $50 printer. It doesn't take up a lot of room and it's much quieter than my last printer. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Constantly loses connection and I haven't found a consistent way to get it back. If there were a routine, it wouldn't make me mad. But I can't find a way to keep the connection. Maddening! Even when printer is up and operating, wireless status says "printer status unknown." Delete printer, turn off and on, shut down wireless and re-start, nothing works consistently to bring the thing back on line as far as the wireless sees it.

Printing photos or printing documents it works well with great results. I have a HP OJP 7740 that I use mainly for 11x17 now. Due to the fact that the ink source in the STP 651 lasts for an extended period of time, saving on the cost of ink purchases. I believe that this is a great addition to my home office.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Hawke330 from decent machine with limited functionality I chose this particular printer on the mistaken idea that as an all in one that it would have, at the very least, the same functions as my 8 year old office jet 4000 series but it really doesn't. outside of the ink tanks and the document feeder, the scanner is no more powerful, it lacks the ability to scan, copy, or print double sided without manually flipping the paper in the feed tray, nor does the document tray allow for double sided scanning. admittedly, the lack of scanning capabilities was my fault for not looking more closely at the fine print for a nearly 500 dollar printer, it could at least automatically print double sided like my 200 dollar, 8 year old printer does. the print quality is nice but not for the price point this printer sells at.

Except, my ordering goof in not noticing it did not have auto duplexing. Having auto duplexing should indeed be automatically included. The mechanism works is minimal and inexpensive and should be included. Marketing expectations, while anticipating future desires of customers, should not effect minor adjustments in profits. Oops, I guess I just defeated my own outlook on future profits, with no expenditure os funds. Foolish me. versus

Filling the ink wells is very tidy, no mess. Where I have problems is with the HP Smart software. If you have an earlier HP Printer where you can direct a scan to a specific computer on your home network, you're doomed. You have to load the HP Smart software and use it to get the scan to the computer it's loaded on.

This new unit did not scan double sided, My mistake in buying it to scan double sided when I could have checked before buying. I had to return the unit for a full refund. It is apparently a very slow printer but of very high quality output. HP products have usually been pretty good. Every new inkjet printer I buy from HP has different types of ink cartridges. Going the tank printer route seemed like a good idea.

I saw a review saying the scanning is slow, but that hasn’t been my experience. The app/software for the printer is great as well. The only minor gripe I have is with the initial setup- it’s a little tricky to figure out how to install the print heads, so if HP had a video showing how to do that I think that would be helpful.

And I could not be more pleased! The set-up videos made installation flawless. And HP 123 made the wireless connection instantly. The ink bottles were simple to use, and a two year supply of ink was frosting on the cake! Plus, the print quality is exceptional! I am very, very happy with this printer!

It said I had two years worth of ink in the box but if they are talking about the ink that came with it I bet I can use it up easily before two years, customer service said it comes with the ink in the box so but on the box says 2 years worth. also this printer does not come with Instantink, I also though this was mentioned in the details but customer service says that this printer does not qualify. Other than that I do love this printer. I set it up with my Dell XPS which has windows 7 on it down in my craft room, I have my HP laptop with windows 10 on it and I tested a print job from my HP laptop upstairs, I picked a photo that I wanted to print out, I did not need to install anything as my HP came with HP smart, I just chose a photo and selected print, it printed the photo out in colour no problem, I so love this as it is very convenient. I have used the printer a few times so far and so far so good. I originally received my printer on October 27th 2020, I had to return it as there were issues with it out of the box, I had to wait another 2 weeks for the one I have now and there were no issues setting it up at all. I recommend this printer.

I would have given it a 5-star but I have had some issues with with an error that occurs with the cartridges. I just push the clamp, and reset them and the error goes away. But it is a problem on both printers and they are new.

This printer does accommodate legal sized documents. This computer does not seem to have double sided capabilities. The ink tanks is its only plus. At twice the price of other printers it’s dimensions. I made the mistake of assuming it would be of comparable printing capabilities. It’s slow too.

No such issue with IOS. Wish it would have had a USB port for the scan function. The 8620 in my mind is a cheaper printer but much more robust and had a USB option. I think you are paying for the ink here not the printer.

The reservoirs hold ample amounts of ink and are quite easy to fill. The print quality is also excellent. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that duplex printing is not automatic. You have to manually reinsert the pages into the paper feeder to print the second side. This was not necessary on my old HP printer.

Unfortunately I hit a snag in the setup process as it keeps telling me I have a paper jam. I was eventually able to figure out how to talk to customer care and got some help. But couldn't fix it all the way. I am assuming this is just an anomaly, but it is giving me pause on spending the money again for this model. I enjoy HP products and the ecosystem, so I hope it is just a one time issue. Only other issue I didn't make note of when ordering was that it's a back loaded paper tray, not a bottom loaded tray. Which would have been my preference. Especially with a printer with such high capacity ink.

I give it a 3 star rating due to frequent codes asking me to remove and reinsert 1 of the print heads. You can either do that or power down unplug for 30 seconds and the code clears. This is not a major issue but can be very annoying when you are in a hurry and the isdue comes up.

651 has had little use. Printing is terribly slow. Prints 1/2 of page, then pauses for up to a minute to finish the page. Is there any hope? If printer has been discontinued is there any warranty?
