This is my first laser HP printer and I am very pleased with it. I purchased this printer in December 2025 from the HP website while it was on sale. This is my daily "go to" printer and it handles everything from printing to copying to scanning. Changing the toner cartridge is very easy and HP provides a free UPS label for recycling the used cartridge. I highly recommend this all in one printer.

    What is the toner situation? Is the ink very expensive, like previous HP printers, or are you forced to go on a plan?

    Hello. Thanks for your question. The HP LaserJet Pro MFP 3101sdw Printer uses the HP 138A or 138X Black Toner Cartridge. You are not required to join HP Instant Ink with this printer; you can still purchase toner cartridges separately.

We recommend looking at the HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4101fdw Printer, which has the capability to do automatic two sided scanning through ADF (Auto Document Feeder) on top.
