Attempted to use the HP Smart App, couldn't because even though the wireless light was on it could not be found by any wireless device with the APP. I've got an HP 1100 over 11 years old, bought two others and gave them to my children as they were/are great and mine still prints like it's new so I wonder what's happened to HP. As for service, attempted, but it was a repeat of what I did and when they wanted to remotely go thru my computer, sorry not going that route.; I wasn't ready for another hour or two of doing what I already did and knowing that the wireless function had somehow failed and the two printouts that can be obtained told me that somehow it connected to someone else's router! No easy reset if the WiFi is not working!

It is configured for 2.4GH the technician on the phone confirmed that and said he could re-configure my router and make it work for $80. He tried to blame my router, a brand new D-Link dual band router, even though we could both look and see it was 2.4GH I since returned it and bought an Epson and had it up and going in 15 minutes.

I have spent over 4 hours on the phone the last two days with support to try to set this thing up. No luck. Remember when you bought a printer, plugged it in and it worked. Thats not this thing. Can’t use USB, has to be wireless, have to have an account, have to use HO Smart app. That worthless app is only so HP can sell you overpriced toner. $99 printer and toner cartridges are $53. Typical HP

Setup is, without any choice, wireless using the HP Smart software. The ChromeOS version is stuck halfway with no further information, phone support people threw me around. Third person asked for the internet service provider, I ended the call.

Issue 1: If you use USB printing, this printer is not for you. The USB port is useless after you print a few pages and then requires you to finish the wireless configuration in order to continue. HP: Why? Issue 2: You have to install HP smart app in order to complete the setup. I am not a big fan of installing bloatware, but OK, I tried it. Issue 3: Trying to setup wireless configuration just to get by and you get unknown errors. You can't finish the setup and you can never print to the printer again. HP, this is a major issue which makes your printer a useless brick. I have tried updating the firmware to the latest version of 20221117 (11/17/2022). That does not fix the issues. I have tried using driver from Microsoft's site, the drivers from HP's site and none work to resolve the issue.

It only prints when it feels like it - and you can never figure out why it went offline and why it will suddenly come back online. I have in no way printed over 900 pages, but it's telling me I already need a new cartridge after just a few months of use. It also randomly prints pages with a huge block of gray down the middle of page (probably why I need toner after using this printer so little). I spent hours on the phone with support to fix this issue a few months ago, but those instructions no longer work. This is so frustrating. I wish I hadn't bought it.

Overall, I am satisfied with the printing itself, but I am equally disappointed in the wi-fi networking features, or lack thereof, of the printer. There are also unanswered questions re: the sleep settings. Thus, the mid-range rating of the printer. I'll start by mentioning something that I missed in reading the tech specs prior to purchase. This printer's wireless adapter only operates in the 2.5GHz range. I would have much preferred a printer that could operate in the 5GHz range in order to work in a less congested band. Setting up the printer for wi-fi connectivity should be a breeze, and, generally, it is. However, the end result for me did NOT leave a functioning printer! I have a hidden wi-fi network and, naturally, used its DHCP server to provide the wireless network settings to the printer. However, after the printer was set up it would ONLY print a SINGLE job, including a test page. Any subsequent print job would fail with the following error: "Printing error Stopped - 'Filter' failed" and then the print queue would go into Offline status. After researching said error message and trying a variety of suggested resolutions, nothing would change this behavior. I should mention that this behavior was consistent both in Windows 10 and macOS 13.0.1 (Ventura). I did find a source that suggested, as a last resort, manual IP configuration. I resorted to this and it works. However, this should NOT be necessary! I also despise being forced to have the printer constantly connected to the Internet just to get the HP+ "features", virtually of which I could care less about, including the toner cartridge service. This constant connection creates a larger and unnecessary attack surface. Information about the printer's sleep mode are sparse or non-existent. How do you visibly tell the printer is truly asleep? There is no change in any of the lights on the control panel. Even my old P1109w would change the power button to off and the wi-fi light would blink while it was asleep. Also, is the wireless adapter put to sleep, too; i.e., does it have wake-on-lan capabilities? Again, even my old P1109w had this.

However, reading after setup, you can print using a USB cable, if needed, but the printer must also remain connected to the Internet. Where I go I do not have access to the internet. The rep from HP kept telling me you don't need internet, but the 2-3 page info plainly states you do . Will stay with Brother printers since they are plug and play pretty much. Totally not worth the money. Already returned one printer due to the same reason

Had two Samsung, both had connectivity issues/paper feed broke and the toner cost as much as the printer. Not sure why I ever bought it again. This one is awesome. Easy setup and hasn’t had a connectivity issue yet (knock on wood). And the replacement toner from HP is only $70.

This little fact is in the set up guide/manual but not in the description online. I threw the box away so now I can't return it. Fantastic!!!

Cheap look and feel. Paper try is absolute joke. Discharge try is worse. A toy compared to the model it replaced. You’d be better off getting a P1006 off eBay. That said…. It works and the print quality is good. It’s not fast. Lol. Kinda a silly little machine. I own two. Oh well. Won’t own a third.

We are in 2022 most corporate WIFI networks are 5Ghz Terrible piece of equipment....I have purchased three of these and all are having problems to print USB only . There are newer models with higher reviews and better in every regard for less money however this was the only model available due to a HP supply shortage at the time of purchase. When there is no wifi, the unit will stop printing and generate an error page requiring a wifi connection. Tethering from a cell phone, corporate gust and hotel wifi will not work. Once properly connected to the net, it will then give you anther 100 pages and shut down. Also annoying, after 50 something pages, it stops because of overheating. Shame because its a nice little printer.

Considering buying this printer, but I see there are a lot of bad reviews about the HP software, poor wireless connectivity and being forced to sign up for an intrusive HP+ account in order to use it. Have any of these issues been changed/addressed?

HP Team Grant's answer is incorrect. This printer WILL NOT PRINT WITHOUT AN HP+ ACCOUNT AND AN ALWAYS-ON INTERNET CONNECTION. To set up the account you must agree to always leave the printer connected to the internet and never use non-HP toner cartridges. If you don't agree to that, the printer will not operate. I bought this printer based on the official answer to this question and now have a useless device, as I refuse to agree to these terms.

Can the HP LaserJet M110we be set up to be used as a local printer and not through Wifi or our network? We only want to use this printer connected locally to a desktop computer.

HP Team Grant's answer is incomplete: this printer will not print, even over USB, without an always-on wifi connection to the internet and a HP account. It does have a USB port, but it only works as long as you're signed up and connected to the internet.

Can the wifi component of this printer be disabled? We need to use this locally without any connection to wifi or internet and it will not let us set up without connecting to the internet.

You must to connect to wifi for this printer to print at all. The initial setup requires internet (and requires signing up for an HP account), and if you ever disconnect it from the internet after setting it up, it will stop letting you print (even over USB) until it is reconnected. This is so HP can track your usage and try to upsell you toner subscriptions.

I bought this printer and got 6 months free instant ink. I wasn't interested in that service,so cancelled after 1 month, but still had one shipment sent to me....of the WRONG toner cartridge! Now I can't get anyone to replace it. What a rip off.
