Rated 3 out of 5 by Anonymous from My New SMART Printer I like my old printer better. It only used 2 ink cartridges 1 black & 1 color. It knew when I had envelopes in the tray to print or when I had paper in the tray to print without me having to change settings. I call that SMART. With this new printer I have to manually change printer settings from envelope to paper, or paper back to envelope in order for it not to say paper mismatch. I would not recommend this printer to anyone.

When the printer is actually working, it keeps discoloring the files i try to print. This printer is only one month old and should not already be having issues like these.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Teachkids from Tracks usage very tightly It's a little odd to be tracked so tightly, for the company to know how many pages I've printed and whether or not I've changed cartridges, sending notifications that I have new cartridges I haven't installed yet, for example. The printer quality is OK, but it feels creepy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by roberttco from Great printer and scanner but a needs a couple tweaks This is a great printer so far. It replaces a still working fine 8610 and is shorter, which is what I was after. It actually prints when I want it to unlike the 8610 that seemed to sleep a lot and not wake when a new print job was sent to it. Setup when smoothly - mostly (see below) and I was up and going in short order. The duplex operation actually works with lighter weight recycled paper with is also great! There are a couple tweaks I would like to see though. 1) During the setup process, there was a preparing message on the printer display after inserting the ink cartridges. It never went away. After power cycling there was a message about a firmware update being applied. I think there is a race condition between taking care of new ink and checking/applying a firmware update when no network is connected yet. 2) The scanner carriage needs lubrication or some different sliding surface. It works fine but grinds or sqeeks a little. I understand the tradeoffs here since I used to design these things but a little PTFE goes a long way. 3) Finally, the touch screen is WAY too sensitive to motion. As you swipe through the menu options and then try to pick one (scan in my case), it is very difficult because the firmware is written in such a way as to think I am swiping instead of just tuching the scan icon. It is also frustrating that a portion of the scan icon is just slightly off the edge of the screen which, apparently, makes it so I cannot select scan untill I swipe left a little. The UI is responsive at least. Note: I am NOT an HP employee anymore but the survey submit button was disable unless I said yes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Anonymous from Printer not setting up as needed. I received an 8139e a month ago and one of the cartridges wouldn't lock into place, They sent me another printer after I had tried to see if there was a geometry issue with the cartridges in other slots and the carriage got locked off to the right and wouldn't move back to center and allow me to correct the issue. The replacement printer a 8135e this time and had the same cartridge problem to just a different slot this time. HP sent me a new cartridge on 8/22 and it DID lock into place, but the printer window had the same error display that the cartridge is missing or defective as it was before. That's the current situation.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Anonymous from NOT a good replacement for the so called outdated but MUCH BETTER HP 8620 Pro Inkjet Setup was NOT for the uninitiated. To make use all capabilities other downloads and installations were needed (e.g. scan from PC). The touch pad is horrendous, does not respond well and requires multiple attempts or total retries (e.g. canceling activity and trying again). A very poor update from previous printer (HP 8620 Inkjet Pro) HP's quality control has gone south in favor of the bean counters and will result in a drastic sales loss, especially after it is compared to other manufactures!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Ireneart from Not my best purchase The Hp person I talked to said this printer would fit my needs. My initial cartridges ran out in 3 weeks. I had a page wide pro before and it would print on anything and I really liked the ways the trays were set up with the bypass tray for all photo papers and card stock, etc. This printer does not print the reds as well and I find the paper tray to be very awkward as I use a lot of different paper types and if you don’t have the right one selected, you get distorted prints. The reds are not the best. I wouldn’t buy it again, but since I have it, I’ll use it and either learn to like it or buy a different printer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Gadget gal from What was I thinking? At tax deadline time, my HP all in one 8139E which was only a few months old The document feeder completely stopped working so I couldn’t scan anything in to send to my tax guy I contacted HP and after a couple of hours on the phone it was determined that They couldn’t fix the problem. They sent me out a refurbished printer that only printed pink. I just didn’t have the time to get the replacement and set it up. So I dealt with that until I was pulling my hair out. I decided to just purchase another printer instead of dealing with whatever they would send me next. It’s been two months now and Ive got my new printer working finally. I had to set aside the time to return THREE printers up and down stairs. packing them up, taking them to the return centers. For some reason everything had to be input several times over the course of days to get it to hook up properly and work with my devices. I have now bought two HP printers within the course of several months. HP offered me a fractional refund wich I’m still waiting for. Way too much wasted time and frustration. I’m 60 years old. I started with an HP COMPUTER and PRINTER when computers first came out. I have been a loyal customer for 25 years but I’m so disappointed at all the the confusion and frustrated at the final results. I’m left to feel as tho being a loyal customer means nothing at all anymore. What was I thinking??

Rated 1 out of 5 by Everbeaver from TheybDont Make Em Like They Used To! I had a great HP printer for years. With the windows 11 update HP disabled my driver and forced me to purchase a new printer. The new printer it's the most cumbersome I've experienced. The paper tray doesn't have a way of locking in the size and when it slips when you close the tray it detects a larger size paper. The printer cartridges don't like to stay in place they pop out. Unless you are using the HP smart app on your PC the features the printer is supposed to have are not accessible such as two-sided printing.. I'm very disappointed in the way HP is changing their way of doing business. The quality of this printer is nothing like my old one. There is a notable change in everything they are doing and it's very disheartening. HP used to be the best on the market

Rated 3 out of 5 by Re-tired HP from Basic AOI. Instant Ink not a good option. Good basic AOI. Does NOT do full double sided like my previous OJ 6978. Does not do well on the network- I had to use usb. Had support problems. Supposed to have 1 year warranty and 3 months of instant ink. They gave me 7 months & 2 months. After 2 calls, the support person happily told me she was able to extend it to 1 year! Maybe a previously shipped system that was still in the system? Haven't resolved the network issue yet. Hopefully it goes away when I uninstall everything and reinstall without instant ink. Instant ink requires constant network connection to HP.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Stan P from Printer Driver is Buggy, Forces to use Slow Cloud Printing Forces to send print job to cloud just to return back yo your printer - a lengthy process depending on the speed of your internet connection, when it could be done instantly if printing locally. Printer driver isn’t automatically uploaded to to your PC. You have to downloaded from website and with every use trying you are dodging the pop-up the the cloud print app is creating. HP driver sucks. I have an error since day one. Simply printing if bot an option. First you must power cycle, reset and burp the printer before it produces a printed page

Rated 3 out of 5 by Not a happy user from Not up to HP standards Paper holding tray not very sturdy. Mly previous Off Jet Pro o8o710 was much easier to pull out. It also had a slide inside the new paper holder that pushed against the paper to hold it in place. The touch screen takes several touches to respond and open then it take more multiple taps to get to open copy finally (Took me 9 taps) then you have to open document or id card. This is irritating when I'm needing something fast. Not what I had hoped for. I have owned 4 or 5 hp printers so not my first time around with them. I like the smaller size and it seems to print fairly fast once it gets going. Would not recommend it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by ladybughq from Very very Disappointed! Disappointed. A little better than the Ebson that I bought and threw away since I couldn't return it. However, the instructions were really poor to get the HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e online. I hate that a lot of things have to be done on the computer screen. Did finally manage to have my local tech be able to come up with the way to scan from the computer. However some of the information that HP gives out is inadequate. Also in trying to get help from HP, apparently I ended up on a HP fake scan screen and I ended up with getting scammed and having to have my whole computer gone through to get rid of the scam which caused me to lose some of my forever programs that I couldn't get back. I had had my previous HP printer for about 15 years and it had been fantastic. I keep fighting with this one and having to get continuous help from my local tech which is costing me a lot of additional money.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Anonymous from okay but could stand to be updated in certain aspects. This all in one printer is overall pretty good but has some flaws. I have yet to be able to get multiple pages to scan properly. The little plastic bit that keeps your printed pages from falling onto the ground is super flimsy and annoying. I routinely have to put some label pages in the drawer which means pushing that shelf in, having it stick, putting in my label then remembering to pull out the shelf again. I'm pretty sure it's going to break one of these days. We have yet to experience the ink on demand.

Thank you for your question! Typically you do this on your PC. Go to control panel, devices and printers, right-click the icon for the printer and from the drop-down menu select printer properties. On the window that opens click Advanced and then printer defaults and turn off duplex. Do the same for printer preferences on the general tab.

Hello Darren and thank you for your question! To scan an entire image on an HP OfficeJet, you can use the Full option or manually adjust the scan boundaries: Place the original on the scanner glass or into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) Touch Scan on the control panel If prompted, select Auto to let the app select the edges of the item, or Full to keep the entire capture If prompted, click Apply or Next If further help is needed, please contact HP Tech Support at this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en
