Why I bought this printer
My situation may be unique. I needed a printer just for 2-5 pages a month. No color and no printing photos. Research indicated a black & white laser jet would be the best for my extremely low usage. I chose the HP printer as I have an HP Omnidesk computer and an HP 24 in. monitor. This printer is a nice compact size and very easy to use. I used the USB hook up and downloaded the HP Smart app. Printing is clean and sharp. I just tried the scanner and had no problems scanning, saving file and also printing. I am not very tech savvy so I'm glad HP made this fairly easy to use. Of course if you have any problems, I have found HP Smart Friend support to ALWAYS resolve my issue.

waste of time.
waisted days trying to set up this printer. Spent 1 ½ hrs with HP tech, finally she said
return it an get a different one. Xfinity sent out a tech, after 2 hrs., he said he couldn't help me.

Pretty 'OK' for a Laser Printer
This is my first laser printer. Since I do not print much very often, I bought it because I was tired of paying high prices for ink cartridges that would dry up after not using them for a few months. The printer itself was easy to setup and use. The speed is adequate for what I need to use it for, and the size is very compact (it can sit on a bookshelf easily). The downsides are that is seems very cheaply made (as with most printers now-a-days), the paper holding tray sticks out from the printer, and the flatbed scanner is not very good quality (cover not weighted, dust can get in easily, slow). Overall, it seems ok and decent enough provided you can get it on sale.

Will Write a New Review When Replacement Printer Arrives
This printer would be fine if the scan feature worked. Mine arrived quickly, the print function from the computer to the printer worked fine but the scan hardware did not work so the copier function and document scan features did not work. Cudos to the technician Raj who diagnosed the problem and warrantied the new printer. Undoubtly the printer got damaged in shipping through FEDEX.

Printing pdf files
Printer works as expected, but issues with some formats. For example does not work with Microsoft pdf files, only works with adobe acrobat files.
Also, occasionally has problem with double sided printing.

Good wireless printer easy to use
I am enjoying it so far I like how easy it is to print from my phone and it is very quiet when it prints.
Also I enjoy the fact that I don’t have to be in the same room as the printer in order for it to print as I did with my old printer.

What a Relief!
I love this printer. I was worried after my last one, which I barely used, because it rarely worked when I needed it. I'm a moderate user - printing a few times per month, as needed. This printer was rated as a top laser printer in an article I read and so far it's been meeting all of my needs. I've always had inkjet printers so this is my first laser. It's so much less of a headache and the print jobs are fast and clear. It was easy to set up and the wireless capability is very handy. The only con is that I wish it came in different colors (ex. black) so it looked a bit more modern, but otherwise no complaints yet. I have not used the copy or scan features yet, but don't imagine there should be any issues. One point to note is that it's surprisingly compact. It looked bigger in the pictures, but actually takes up less surface space, than my old one.

I may print a dozen pages a year....
I purchased this HP LJ M140w printer but use it only occasionally because I rarely print anything unless absolutely necessary. I may print a dozen pages a year, if that, so I require the printer to work without issues, but it will never support a busy duty cycle. Half the time I turn on the printer to run a page, it jams, requiring that I shut down and start it again. Why? The paper feed is full. The catch tray is extended. HP Support is no help. Sure, I know it's an inexpensive printer, but I rarely use it, so I expect it to work every time -- frustrating.

Support assistance is terrible.
Unable to tell if product is good, bad or otherwise. It stopped working after sending a couple of print jobs to it. The BIG problem is I have yet to successfully receive any help at getting it to work again from all the on-line assistance I have sought and/or received.

Be prepared to sign up for help, no printer drive disk included---all online.
The startup brochure did not allow for me to find the correct drivers for computer software and this printer, so I wound up paying $300+ for a tech team to make my computer recognize the printer and vice versa.

Print quality is poor and wireless connection not
While easy to set up, this printer produces a print quality of faint gray, distinctly less black than produced by an HP laser printer that I still have working after 30 years. The printer also loses its wireless connectivity and one must reestablish it by running Troubleshooter.

Is it required that the paper tray to be down whenever I print ? Or is that just to load the paper.
Hello. Thanks for your question. The paper tray is where you load the blank paper. You could remove it and close the paper tray when you are not printing. Just be sure to remove the paper before closing the paper tray.

Wireless Direct (WiFi Direct) allows you to directly connect to a printer from a mobile device or computer without the need for internet access or a wireless network. You would connect to the printer’s wireless direct signal just like you would connect to a wireless network. The printer would have a unique name in your wireless connections, i.e. Direct-04-Printer. Is the yield of the toner cartridge that comes with the printer (the so-called "introductory cartridge") less than the actual cartridges used by printer (141A, the yield of which allegedly is ca 950 pages)?
