Loses connectivity to the network all the time. As previous people have said, you end up spending a lot of time trying to get it to reconnect and have to reinstall. Does not print large PDFs over wireless. Extremely expensive ink toner cartridges that you have to buy very often- do not believe the numbers they give you for pages printed per toner cartridge. Very heavy to lift for home use. Not user friendly for set up. Very frustrating to use in general but does print high quality pages

Difficult return was unnecessary
The printer arrived in a box that was wet. When I started to open it the inside was even more wet. I did not remove the printer or anything else from the box. I just closed it again and taped it. Since it is an electronic component I did not think this was a good thing. I called hp customer service to get a return label. They said that I would have to speak to a specialist. The specialist would call me in two to three business days. One never called. A week or more later I received an email with a return label. This was after three calls to hp. This is what I consider bad customer service, an unnecessarily complicated process.

Problems setting up printer
Not too happy with the printer. It is not very user friendly - programming is on a touch screen, but user manual is in Spanish, and I don't speak Spanish. I also have problems connecting the printer to my CT6 Ethernet cable to allow printer to work of ethernet rather than wireless. Large PDF Files do not print over wireless.

Think twice about this purchase
I don’t understand why 5x7 photo paper is no longer an option but HP support is no help at all. The printer performs well as a desktop printer but I have yet to try scanner or copy functions. Printing photos wirelessly from a phone has also proven challenging. I have spent 10 hours to print six 4x6 photos from a phone using HP software including installation and setup.

Purchase with Caution.
I use this printer provided by my employer, and the quality of printing is good. The biggest issue I have is the printer staying connected. The printer will be turned on and not in "sleep mode" but when trying to print from the computer, it will say the computer is offline. Some days it works and stays connected, other days involve a trial of troubleshooting, restarting the printer, reconnecting the wifi connection, disconnecting the printer from the computer and reconnecting. My aboslute favorite part is when I run the diagnostics through the HP app on the computer and it tells me that the ONLY issue is that the printer needs to be turned on, when CLEARLY it is turned on. It's a huge headache and it's very time consuming. Although, in reading the other reviews today, I'm honestly relieved that I'm not the only one having this issue.

Wifi connection is very unreliable
Don't buy this printer if you want to connect via wifi. I've had nothing but issues staying connected. Every time I try to use it the printer is offline. I have to run diagnostics and after several minutes I may get lucky and finally have it connect. It's not my internet or my wifi router because I recently changed internet providers and routers and still having same issue. Finally broke down and bought a long printer cable. Given up on the wifi connection. My co-worker has the same printer at home with the same exact issues. So frustrating because with the way my setup is, having a 10' cable running through my apt is not ideal.

The M182 arrived with the scanner not working and the red color for the toner not working. After removing and replacing the toner barrels the red toner started working and the color printing is acceptable. The scanner appears to be jammed and the scanner head does not move. I have reached out HP by email and have had no response. I am really disappointed in the customer service as well as the product.

Network Problems
Printer has trouble networking with Mac computers. I had it online for about a week and it stopped working. Have been unable to get in back online after reviewing materials/tutorials online and through he chat assistant. There doesn't seem to be a way to reset the printer to its default settings and start anew. This is the second HP printer I've had that didn't network well with Macs. I swore off of them the last time I bought one, but that was 10 years ago. I thought for sure they'd have figured it out over the last decade. Ugh.

AWFUL AWFUL experience
I bought this printer for my summer home and it has never worked well, for me or my niece and nephew. It constantly won't print without repeated unplugging and replugging in. Now I have a new Mac book pro and can't connect with the printer because of "error: having trouble communicating with the printer. I hate it and wish I had never bought it. Also, disappointed that it doesn't have 2 sided printing.

I purchased this printer March 28, 2021 and on April 4, 2022 it now has an error message and will not work. It is 7 days out of its one year warranty so I am out of luck and will be looking elsewhere for a new printer. It was great for the one year that it worked.

If you just need simple scanning and printing with laserjet quality and number of pages per minute, this is the best printer I ever had. No more ink drying out, and the cartridges will last me forever. Simple to install and setup. Has wifi and a web interface. Highly recommended.

Overall this is a nice simple color laser printer and is working well so far. Would have given 5 stars, but sometimes takes a while to connect thru the wifi, and the software for scanning does not hold settings, like if you pick 'document' instead of 'photo', next scan it reverts back to 'photo'.

Solid home printer
Solid printer for home use. I really couldn't take the ink cartridges anymore. Toner lasts so much longer while just sitting there waiting to be used, not getting dried out. I set it up wireless in minutes, works flawlessly for scanning and printing even with my Macbook.

Good printer, easy to setup, but......
I wanted a hassle-free printer for my elderly parents. It was easy to setup and now they can easily print from any device in the house. However, since buying it, I have researched printer cartridges for it and am completely taken aback. It costs almost as much as the printer itself for a new set. This is ridiculous IMHO. I'm not in favor of trying to beat the "system" as they have the OEM HP cartridges locked down by a chip you have to try and remove and install on any new third party cartridge in order to use them. Even if you could get it to work, there's drawbacks in functionality in doing so. I don't mind paying more for genuine HP cartridges, but I cannot imagine why HP has to charge such exorbitant prices for them -- a new set is definitely over $200 and can be upwards to $300. Definitely not in line with what anyone would expect them to cost. Buyer beware.

It took us a couple of weeks to set up, so the thirty day return didn't seem like an option. We wanted a laser printer, but we also needed a multi-page copier and scanner. Unbelievable that a product at this price point does not have either. Probably the features we use the most. We are very unhappy and would like to trade for something else, but yea....

worst printer ever invented
DO NOT BUY!!!! this is the worst printer i have ever used in my entire life. it takes me no less than an hour every time i have to print something if i can even get it to work which 70% of the time it wont. You have to download an app onto your computer to use it and the printer has to be connected to the same wifi network as your computer. Even when everything is properly set up (which takes no less than 7 hours to do) there is a very good chance that the app will still not be able to find your printer. also it often slightly changes the scale of your print so if you have to print something size specific good luck. its an enormous printer but only prints up to 8.5x11. i desperately wish i could just plug my computer into the printer but there are no ports to be able to do so. Using this printer is quite literally the most stressful part of my day. if i could give this negative stars i would. i cannot express how much i regret buying this printer. i wish this printer was sentient so that i could verbally harass it for hours on end to make it feel the emotional pain it has caused me. if i didn't know any better i would think this printer was sent to me by god to punish me for being a homosexual.
