This printer has become a gigantic $350 paper weight because of a false paper jam error that cannot be cleared. It's unbelievable that HP cannot make a printer that can be "fixed"after a paper jam. That aside from it going offline even if connected via USB...

HP thrives on planned obsolescence and garbage creation
After 3 years I am told I need to get a new printer because HP does not allow the means to clear a false paper jam error. They don't tell you you need to turn the printer off to clear a paper jam, and then you can't clear the error after that. No reset button, no press and hold trick... Planned obsolescence at it's finest. No care for the consumer. No intention of being environmentally friendly at the slightest.

Same ol, same ol, reliable printer!
OK, so I went down the wrong path. I bought 3rd-party toner for 7 years on my old HP Printer, an HP M252 LJ. Yes, the quality of the lower-price toners caused my print-outs to look... less than beautiful. And I ran that printer for 7 years without a hitch beyond that quality issue.
I'm retired now, and I considered tearing this old printer down, cleaning it thoroughly, buying my $400+ set of legitimate toners, and resuming with a clear conscience. Then my daughter was interested in the old thing, and not picky about quality, so I gave it to her, and ordered the M255. Win - win!
I like the M255, and I have REAL toner in it, and will bite the bullet and continue using same. My observations:
1. The printer is noisier than the old one
2. The time-to-start is considerably faster
3. The unit is almost exactly the same sive as the old one
4. The unit is heavier than the old one, but I don't have to carry it anywhere!
5. The manual did not take my hand and talk me thru the process of sharing the printer. The first time, I made it a wireless device on my computer, but other computers in the house did not see it. I got a techy friend to help, and he talked me thru configuring on the printer itself to make it sharable on my wireless. I am very pleased with it now, and if a guest needs to print from their phone, Kindle, laptop, whatever, They can get to it if I offer the password. It's a real kick, not now tech, but I like it.
So, I should not need another, as long as I buy those high-priced toners from Father HP. Maybe they have a discount program if I PROMISE to NEVER use a third-party toner EVER!?!?

Just what was required.
My HP inkjet died after a good long run of 8 years. Wanted a crisper print of text hence the switch to laser printer. This LaserJet Pro provides that, color and a printing speed I can live with in my home office.

Very pleased with this purchase.
I haven't had it long, but so far, it's worked like a dream. The wireless connection to my IMac was easy to set up and I'm happy with the color and saturation of the images. A million times better than the last color laser printer (by another manufacturer) that I owned (although it was a lot cheaper, it was basically a complete waste of money.) Very pleased with this purchase.

So far so good! The only thing that I can't quite understand, is the Print Options are different depending on what program you are in. Specifically a check-box for either choosing or not choosing duplex printing. When in MS Word, that option is not available and automatically prints duplex, so need to print 1 page at a time. How can I toggle on/off???

Wont print color after 2500 prints
This printer is rated to have a 140,000 page duty cycle per month.
Over the past 2 years mine printed about 2500 prints. Then it stopped printing color effectively. Even with brand new genuine HP toner, it still wont print color.
Disgusted.
HP inkjets dry up.
HP Laserjets break down.
Explain to me please how this is not a scam?

Horrible with envelopes
I’ve been very frustrated with this printer so far, largely due to its abysmal handling of envelopes. The specs claim it can handle envelopes, but it’s hard to believe anyone in quality assurance actually tried to print envelopes. Repeated jamming, slow, cumbersome initialization process every time you load more envelopes or clear a nonexistent jam. Poor design, poorly executed.

Prints clean, sharp text and pictures. However, you are forced to use the HP app if you want easy setup; without it, AirPrint and other advertised wireless printing features do not work well, if at all.

Solid Printer, weird printing frequency
It is a good printer and prints at a good speed. It is not a quite as was suggested. And the actual sound it makes comes in at a really annoying frequency to me. But, that only happens when it is printing, first turned on, etc. The colors are sharp and very well done. Overall, I would recommend it.

Printer great; documentation horrible
I am actually very happy with the printer; it is the documentation that has dropped the rating. I read the documentation that came with the printer along with all the on-line documentation. I then watched the videos which were for Windows 7. Really?? I am a former IT professional, and I can guarantee that most people would be lost trying to set this printer up. My installation was simple; a USB connection to one printer and then wireless connections to a couple more. I tried to follow the directions which didn't really address a USB connection and kept pushing you towards an HP app that didn't help.
I then just went old school and allowed the computer to discover the printer, ignoring all the HP documentation, and the installation went fine. The HP documentation on a wireless connection were horrible and simply didn't work. So I ignored them and just allowed the other computers to discover the printer on the wireless network. That worked fine.
Bottom line was that if all I knew was to follow the documentation provided, I never would have gotten the printer working on any of the computers. In reality, the installation was verry simple, but the instructions were horrible and seemed more concerned about getting the user to sign up for automatic toner replacement.
As for the printer, I have been very happy with it. It is quiet and the print quality is fine for what I need.
In summary, I would give the printer a 5-star rating but the documentation zero stars.

Very nice printer for the price!
I really like having a nice laser jet printer. This one is easy to set up and easy to use. It can even print on thicker cardstock.
4 stars because I can not change the quality of the print. It only allows for one setting. The setting is clean, but I was hoping to make it extra crisp.
Colors are a bit off compared to my designs on the computer, but not too crazy.
I also found that when printing from design programs it boxes colors weird. Please rasterize a copy before printing to keep that away!

Poor color quality
The color of pictures on the page is very blueish. I have tried "calibrating" the color but no improvement. Tried to contact HP support but when clicked on support link got a message that the link was not operational. It does print very fast and is quiet. Works fine as a black and white printer, but not worth buying a color printer for this quality of color.

Maybe not the best option.
Some connection issues to my Mac. Error of low memory canceling print job happened a lot during the first two days of owning it. Have to remove the test two paper to force a test 1 print. If I wasn’t tech savvy I wouldn’t be printing. It could be more end user friendly.

Great printing, a few small issues
Overall this is a solid printer. It has had a few connectivity issues that are annoying, and it occasionally runs some sort of quick clean or check-in cycle and makes a noise in the middle of the night, which is not ideal for its placement in our residence. But all in all it is a solid printer.

Great Printer! My technician had this printer hooked up and running wireless in less than 10 minutes. The print quality is great. It is not as quiet when it commences printing as I had expected. But, other than that it works great so far. This printer is being used with a lap top and PC and works great with both. I would recommend this printer.
