HP 410A Magenta
I bought the smaller volume 410A Magenta to replace a large volume version that FAILED. With 75% of the capacity still remaining, it began streaking badly on any copies made. Fortunately, the new cartridge resolved the problem, but I will never buy a large volume HP laser jet printer cartridge again.

HP 410A Yellow Laser Jet cartridge
With 20% capacity remaining, I began experiencing yellow streaks on my printed documents. I replaced my high volume yellow laser jet cartridge with the smaller volume HP 410A, and that solved my problem.

Consistent high quality results!

Easy to use

Good Cartridge, Bad Warning System
Genuine HP laser jet cartridges always perform well but I wish my Laser Jet Pro M452nw printer, which I use this black cartridge in, didn't warn me about it being "low" or "very low" because I can see in the prints when the cartridge needs changing and I have to deal with these warnings for many weeks, even months, before the cartridge actually needs changing.

Off-Brand vs. HP Ink Cartridges
I used some off brand ink cartridges in order to save money. Found some instructions online about how to clean the print rollers in my printer and cleaned them. Replaced them with genuine HP ink cartridges and everything works as they should. Suggestion: Include instructions on how to clean the print rollers with the cartridges, so customers don't have to search for how to information. I gave a 4-star rating because the first HP customer service person I spoke with said my printer was out of warranty and I need to buy a new printer. My printer may be out of warranty, but it's in almost pristine condition and I didn't need to spend hundreds of dollars for a new printer. The HP ink cartridges alone were a tad over $500.

Always top quality
The HP toner cartridge works flawlessly. While the price for the authentic toners is a bit of a sticker shock, I find it's the better value over compatibles or refills. The cartridge always lasts longer (more prints) by about 15% after the printer "supplies" feature says it's empty. I use that warning to buy my next cartridge but don't actually replace it until the print quality starts to fade. Off-brand cartridges I've tried have all failed in a number of ways before they were recognized as empty, and comparing side-by-side output, the print quality of the HP is noticeably better. Really wish the prices could come down, though.

HP branded cartridges matter - live and learn
My HP M452 color duplex laser printer developed ugly vertical black bands on all prints. Nothing I tried would eliminate this problem. Finally, I decided to replace the OEM black cartridge with a genuine HP branded cartridge and the problem went away.

Currently I do not have any ink in my printer. If I purchase two of the black and white cartriges do I place them in the printer at one time. I am not ordering any color at this time.
Hello Carolyn, as the printer you currently have wasn't in the question the answer will be a little generic. HP Printers will only have one slot for a black cartridge, be it inkjet or laserjet.
