I Will Never Buy HP Again - Not Defamatory, Just Fact
It never arrived, and HP "support" has been a nightmare - hours on the phone, switching over to other phone operators, hanging up on me, etc. And now they want me to write a review to show that I am an expert. Well, I am an expert all right. Don't Buy HP.
I'm shopping for a totally new printer now, but not HP.
I still don't have the toner that I purchased online weeks ago. They continue to tell me that it was shipped to the wrong address - even though they verbally confirmed the correct address to me over the phone. I asked one support operator which number I should call, and the department to ask for, and when I did, they talked for 30 minutes or so, and then told me I needed another department. Can you believe it? I don't. And now they say that there are weather delays, yet the tracking still says I should have received it two days ago.
I lost a lot of opportunity because I needed to print flyers for an event. Now all promotion opportunity is gone.

Black Cartridge OK
Unlike the color cartridges, when I had to replace the black cartridge, I had printed a substantial number of pages, possibly close to the nominal 1200 or so. The order came quickly and the print quality is good.

Outdated and Expensive Print Cartridges
I had to purchase a new set of color cartridges because of a "low" indication, but had not gotten anything close to the nominal 2500 pages they claim for the cartridge capacity, closer to a couple of hundred. The magenta cartridge does not print, and the sessions with online help have not helped or been very useful. Furthermore, the set of cartridges at $340 for the three is ridiculously expensive for the rather limited number of pages I got. The delivery took more than a month.

HP products, support and services are not what they used to be.
I have nothing but praise and positive feelings for HP products. That is while they are brand new, under warranty, and working properly. I wish I could say the same when it comes to support and service after the warranty expires.
I purchased my HP LaserJet Pro 400 color as a second laser printer based on the price and high quality of prints. It has been pampered with little use. Toner cartridges have always been purchased from reputable stores, such as Staples or HP.
To make sure cartridges are always available when needed, I order them in advance. BAD idea! There have been issues with toner leakage where the store will not accept responsibility because of the time laps. Not even partial credit toward a new cartridge.
Recently, after installing a black cartridge, the LCD flashed “used toner in use,” and I lost my network printing capability. I received no valuable support from HP and resorted to paying Geek Squad to troubleshoot. No luck there, even after removing and reinstalling drivers.
Once again, I contacted HP Support and asked if replacing the “supposedly counterfeit” black toner with a new one ordered directly from HP will solve the “Printer Offline” problem. I was assured that it would.
Now the new cartridge is installed, and the printer went through a series of calibrations and cleaning, and I am back where I started! No error message on the LCD and the printer is still offline.
I have contacted a local computer store to test the network card, which I suspect has failed.
I would gladly throw this printer in the trash if I did not have $800 worth of new toner cartridges.

HP original cartridge. It costs a pretty penny, but because I've not been using 3-rd party cartridges, my laser printer is 10+ years old and still going strong. I highly recommend the HP cartridges, and if you don't use color much, set the properties to monochrome and by the extended capacity cartridge!

Caused Blue Dots to Appear
Besides being really expensive, immediately after changing this cartridge, started getting blue dots down the center of anything we print. Only recently replaced all three color cartridges and they cost way too much to replace everything at once as was suggested in a few posts. Checked forums and this is not an isolated issue. HP400 was the perfect color laser printer for a small business and still is but HP does not make anything similar to upgrade to. Everything they make today in color is inkjet or floor standing copy machines.

genuine toner works best
I really like my HP Color Lasejet, had it for 10 years, but the toner is expensive. (HP will love this) I tried some cheaper toner, but it looked all washed out. I tried in vain to find an .icc file for this printer. I was faced with either just using this as a monochrome laser, or getting the expensive toner, and I chose the latter. It went in easily, and instantly the color was as good as ever. I'm glad they still stock the parts.

Prefer using HP toners for a HP printer
My HP printer works better with HP toners. However, the old cartridges that I left out for the carrier were not picked up. And, to my dismay while loading the cartridges in my car, I lost my car key. Please instruct the carrier to pick up old toners if they are kept aside for pick up. Thanks.
