Ease of setup, but not what I was looking for
This works fine and I can connect all my peripherals. However, I was looking for a true docking station that would allow me to close my laptop and still use my separate monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Since my laptop has outlets for all those already, this is not being used.

Dock It Good
I basically just plugged my devices in and it all magically worked. I was even able to put my mouse dongle on the dock instead of on my laptop.
One knock: I could not find anything about a Thunderbolt cable being included. I had purchased a cable earlier, so it wasn't an issue for me. But, there was a short cable included and I didn't need my other cable. That needs to be in any sales material or someone might buy an unnecessary cable.

Annoying Fan Noise
When plugged into an HP laptop, the fan will randomly turn on and off intermittently throughout the day and it’s quite noticeable. When plugged into a Mac the fan will run continuously loud and never stop. I wish that HP would make a fan less docking station or at least release a firmware update for this one to reduce the fan noise.

Great device ….. but
Great device but I have had to replace two of them with 1 to 2 years. Another one the ethernet socket quit working and I had to use a USB-C adapter to get internet connection.

Compatible with Pavilion 16.
Took sometime to find the right docking station for my HP Pavilion 16. It might be a little more expensive than some of the other docking stations out there but this has exacting what I needed. It matches the power supply of the laptop so it's always charged. Could use maybe one or two more ports and it would be nice if the audio mini plug port was in the rear.

Doesn’t provide the power…hp said it would.
I was sold the wrong dock for my laptop. This doesn’t provide enough power for my laptop which it was paired with …from hp. Pretty expensive disappointment.

The dock was working fine for 2 external monitors. Now it only allows 1 monitor to be displayed. How could it be addressed. I tried rebooting laptop, dock, checking cables etc. but no matter what, only 1 monitor works.

Hello Troy and thank you for your question! The HP Thunderbolt Dock 120W G4 is designed for laptops with a Thunderbolt Port and will provide up to 100W charging power via USB-C. For laptops needing more than 100W charging, the HP Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4 Dock w/ Combo Cable is recommended.
