GREAT SCANNER!
The build quality of the Pro 2000 scanner is pretty good, the visual quality of scanned images and text is very accurate and are never misaligned. After previously holding onto an old Konica Minolta copier for scanning, I'm very happy I donated the copier and replaced it with the Pro 2000. I should have made the change long ago.

how well does it scan old photos compared to the Epson photo scanner line up?
Thank you for your question! This HP Forum does not have information on competitor products so a comparison is unable to be made. However, this HP ScanJet Pro 2000 s2 Scanner scans at a resolution of up to 600 x 600 dpi. The recommended media types to scan are Cut Sheet Paper, Printed Paper (Laser and ink), Pre-Punched Paper, Bank Checks, Business Cards, Freight Bills, Carbonless forms, Previously stapled media with staples removed, and Plastic cards. This is designed to be a business scanner primarily for media and not photo scanning. For best results in photo scanning, the HP Envy Inspire All-in-One printers are recommended.

Does it require accessing Microsoft Store Front to install software?

Does the duplex feature automatically pickup the need for doing duplex in the middle of a run of single sided documents.

This HP ScanJet Pro 2000 features Auto-color detect, auto-crop, auto-exposure, auto orient, OCR, zonal OCR, zonal barcode, edge removal, background cleanup, remove hole, color drop out, straighten the page, scan to cloud, scan to email, PDF security, Citrix Ready. Unfortunately, there is no auto-detection for double-sided and single-sided documents. Those would need to be scanned separately under the proper document setting.

Thank you for your question! Yes, this HP ScanJet Pro S2 Sheet-feed scanner can be set up to scan directly to email. For details on how to do this please visit the support page for this product. This ScanJet can also scan up to 35 pages per minute. As this will scan double-sided images in a single-pass, it can scan 70 images per minute as well.
