AI innovations and tech upgrades

The latest Intel Core Ultra processors and dynamic refresh rates are just two of the standout items from the latest Spectre and OMEN laptops. Now that you know a bit more about the hardware, we’ll explore some of the new technology at work in both series.

A new suite of adaptive features powered by local AI

Local AI support means your laptop will have a variety of new features, like dynamic refresh rates. The list includes a lot more, including refined low-light adjustment, automatic background blur and framing, and built-in power optimization to save battery and maximize performance - even privacy alerts when someone else is looking at your display.

Taking advantage of Intel Core Ultra processing

Part of the new range of hardware upgrades powering AI integrations, Intel Core Ultra processing provides better performance and more efficient computing. While your CPU handles AI activities like video call effects, the GPU takes over for heavy workloads like content creation, and the NPU manages ongoing AI-driven tasks with a low power profile.

A deep impact on creative and collaborative work

Spectre’s new AI tools make a visible impact on power consumption when it comes to collaboration, reducing energy consumption by 13%. The impact is even bigger for creative applications, with a 65% faster turnaround for generative AI workloads compared to the last generation, as well as a 132% faster turnaround for AI-assisted video editing.

Advanced thermal design for performance gaming

Gaming and high-bandwidth activities can consume a lot of power, so your device and its components can get hot. If you can feel it on the outside, the temperature of your components may be even higher. OMEN is engineered with Intel Dual Channel Flow Technology to keep things cool, with direct heat dissipation via our first rear-mounted vents.

Lattice-free keyboards and audio tuning by HyperX

The next generation of OMEN gaming laptops also deepens our ongoing collaboration with HyperX, adding the world’s first lattice-less sky-printing RGB keyboard on a gaming laptop. Show more of your customized lighting configuration through translucent borders on each keycap. It’s also the world’s first gaming laptop with HyperX audio tuning for precision audio.

Sustainable design across both product lines

With a diverse product portfolio and a variety of services, one of the biggest ways HP has cut back on its carbon footprint is through sustainable product design. That includes 50% recycled plastic in each laptop design, 90% recycled metal in the top cover and keyboard deck, as well as 100% sustainably sourced materials for shipping and product packaging.

Summary

For Spectre and OMEN users, gains are also backed up on the display side. The latest Spectre and OMEN 14s laptops feature premium 2.8K (2880 x 1800) configurations and a range of add-ons usually restricted to larger models. The Spectre and OMEN 16, however, still offer a bigger display and powerful options, like NVIDIA Studio and G-SYNC on the Spectre 16.
Thanks to the rapid implementation of new AI-powered tech, 2024 is quickly shaping up as a busy year for HP and the PC market in general. The addition of NPUs and AI applications has a huge range of implications for designers and consumers, making laptop builds more efficient and premium performance more accessible to gamers and creatives.
