How are refurbished computers manufactured? |
| Stringent guidelines are followed. All units are brought up to fully functional condition, with defective parts replaced by working parts, and there can be no visible scratches or abrasions on primary viewing planes. HP's refurbished products go through two quality control checks before being re-boxed for sale to ensure high reliability. |

Where do refurbished computers come from? |
| Refurbished computers are not used computers that have been in use over a long period of time. Most are cancelled orders and customer return units, others are overstocks, evaluation units, cosmetically blemished products and older discontinued products. Refurbished products are tested and if necessary, non-working components are replaced with working parts to bring the product up to fully functional condition. |

How do I decipher part numbers for refurbished products? |
| After a unit has been refurbished, the part number is changed to reflect the refurbishment level, such as: |
| An "R" is added before the pound (#) sign or to the seventh or eight position: |
| • |
123456#ABA changes to 123456R#ABA |
| • |
123456 changes to 123456R |
| • |
1234567#ABA changes to 1234567R#ABA |
| • |
123456-123 changes to123456R-123 |
| If you want to search HP's product reference library for information, advisories, documentation, parts, or general question and answers about a particular system, revert the part number back to it's original part number. |
| Part numbers can be configured in 7-3 or 7-3-4, for example A23456R-123 or A23456R-999-1234. 6-3-4 products are returned CTO Config-To-Order units (customer placed custom order and returned unit). These are non-standard production models and online information is not available for them.

For example, standard ground shipping for a desktop costs $15 - $29, notebooks are $19, workstations are $29 - $45, and monitors are $16 - $20.
