About the Accelerator

In an increasingly digital world, people without access to technology and the skills to use it are often locked out of economic opportunity. The Accelerator helps scale the impact of organizations that are working to change this. 
Since 2022, the Accelerator has served 35 nonprofit organizations across 13 countries, helping them reach an additional 11.3 million people. 

As a joint program of HP and the HP Foundation, the Accelerator offers selected organizations USD$100,000 in funding, HP technology & solutions (~USD$100,000 value), and a six-month, virtual program designed to strengthen capacity and scale impact.  Exciting changes are ahead for the 5th year of the Accelerator. In 2026, the Accelerator will be:
- Open to both nonprofits and for-profits
- Based in the U.S.
- Focused on the future worker—targeting youth, on-demand workers, and small businesses.

We define the future of work as the evolution of today’s workforce and economic landscape brought on by the rapid rise of AI and other technological advancements. This evolution is impacting both workers and employers as the demand for jobs and requisite skills changes. While opportunity is inherent in change, it can only be unlocked by those with adequate resources, including access to technology and the skills to use it.

In 2026, the 5th year of the Accelerator will be:

1. Open to both nonprofit and mission-driven for-profit organizations for the first time.

2. Based in the U.S., where we piloted the program in 2022 alongside India and Morocco.

3. Focused on future workers that are most vulnerable to economic shocks—targeting youth, on-demand workers, and small businesses.

The 2026 Accelerator will provide five selected organizations with:
- USD$100,000 in funding from the HP Foundation
- HP technology & solutions valued at USD$100,000
- Six-month, virtual training program by HP and its social impact partners, MIT Solve and Global Impact Advisors, designed to strengthen organizational capacity and scale impact.

HP is committed to helping disconnected communities participate and thrive in the future of work. Nonprofit and for-profit organizations both play a valuable role in providing resources to these communities. Yet many face their own barriers to resources—time, staff, and financial support—which can challenge their ability to scale fast enough to meet growing needs. Through a combination of funding, training, and mentorship, the Accelerator can help organizations strengthen capacity and scale innovative approaches to closing the digital divide.

We request reporting on direct and indirect reach at baseline (1 year period prior to participation), 6 months, 18 months, and 2.5 years after starting the program. We also request reporting on additional quantitative or qualitative information on participant outcomes and impact, but we do not have a list of required indicators given the variation in programming across organizations working to close the digital divide.

In general, we are interested in the organization’s overall reach with related programming, unless your participation in the Accelerator will be limited to staff from a specific program within a larger organization with minimal interaction of staff working on, or supporting, other programs. We do not request reporting of participant reach from other programming your organization may provide that does not pertain to addressing the digital divide.

Indirect reach refers to individuals not interacting directly with your program but who are served by the technology, digital literacy or digital skills content acquired by your direct participants. For example, if you provide digital skills training to an individual who is able to attain employment as a result of that training, their household members benefit from that economic opportunity and are considered indirect reach. The indirect reach can be estimated using multipliers like average classroom size or household size or can be reported based on program data, if available. We do not include social media impressions under indirect reach.

Qualified organizations must meet the following:

Hold active legal registration as a not-for-profit organization

Be capable of receiving funding from a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) organization

Perform majority of work in support of people and communities in Greece, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Spain

Be committed to advancing more inclusive and equitable access to education and economic opportunities

Focus primarily on equipping historically disconnected youth and adults with critical skills needed to participate and thrive in an increasingly digital economy

Assign a primary contact for the Accelerator program that possesses fluency in English (note: The Accelerator program curriculum, mentoring, and communications are delivered in English language only).
