ZINK is the printing process of the future

After nearly 30 years of the same home printing processes, ZINK® has disrupted the market with a new technology that revolutionizes how, when, and where you can print. Instead of using ink or toner cartridges, ZINK only needs one thing to create high-quality color images: paper.

How does it work?

Specially crafted ZINK paper is embedded with 100 billion miniscule dye crystals arranged in three different color layers: yellow, magenta, and cyan. These three base layers can combine to make an infinite number of colors, ensuring all your printed images capture the full glory of the original photo.

Once you put this paper in a ZINK printer, the dye crystals are melted by a thermal printhead that carefully activates each layer. A small burst of heat that changes in temperature and length penetrates the paper depending on what color combination is needed. Short, hot bursts activate yellow, bursts of medium heat and length activate magenta, and long, cool bursts activate cyan.

This process is repeated nearly 200 million times within 30 seconds to achieve your final print. Whether you want deep blues to capture the majesty of the ocean or light pinks to relive the beauty of a rose bloom, ZINK printers produce high quality photos sans ink.

Tired of constantly having to reorder supplies to keep your at-home print shop running? With this incredible zero ink technology, all you need is an HP ZINK printer and paper, and you can be on your merry way. Gone are the days of running out of toner just as you need to print an important document. Take printing into your own hands. It’s about time you got to be in charge.

Mobile compatible for pocket-sized prints

In this digital age, you have hundreds of fun memories stored on the camera roll of your smartphone. Isn’t it time they made the leap into the real world? With a ZINK printer like the HP Sprocket Photo Printer, you can print photos from your phone or tablet in a flash.

These bite-sized 2 x 3-inch snapshots are ideal for capturing all those magic moments you share with friends and family. Weighing in at only 6 ounces, this sleek portable printer blends in with all your other devices so you never have to tote around a clunky printing device.

Equipped with seamless Bluetooth connectivity, print from just about anywhere. All you need is the HP Sprocket app, and you’re well on your way to creating mini masterpieces. Plus, multiple people can connect to the HP Sprocket at once, making group printing projects a total breeze.

What can the app can do?

Use custom stickers to decorate your photos or spice up old snaps to make something entirely new. Separate a photo into multiple smaller prints to create an eye-catching tile collage that will breathe new life into any bare wall.

Or perhaps accessorize your prints with cute digital frames if buying a real frame is out of your budget right now. You can even go into photobooth mode where four quick pics are combined into one fun print.

Step up with the second edition

The possibilities are truly endless when it comes to customizing your projects on an HP ZINK mobile printer. If you want your prints to pack an extra-powerful punch, the HP Sprocket 2nd Edition Photo Printer comes with more special features than its predecessor.

The same size and functionality of the standard HP Sprocket, this nifty device takes things up a notch. The redesigned exterior is covered in tiny decorative dots that you can scan with the app to read status information about your printer. Design meets function in this soft implementation of augmented reality.

AR comes to the digital print

Taking this element even further, the HP Sprocket app now allows you to create scannable augmented reality photos. With each photo you print, you can digitally pin a short video to it so when a friend scans the snapshot, the recorded message will play on their screen. Remember those moving paintings in Harry Potter? This is the closest you can get to your dreams of witchcraft and wizardry!

Get personal

HP ZINK mobile printers know how to take customization to a whole new level. Personalize the name of your HP Sprocket so friends can recognize your device, change the color of the print status light, and take full advantage of the constantly-evolving tools on the app. Print when, where, and how you want with no restrictions, just memories that will last a lifetime.

Paper designed to withstand the test of time

Apart from ditching clunky ink and toner cartridges in favor of embedded dye crystals, the paper used in HP ZINK mobile printers is designed to withstand the rigors of daily life. Waterproof, smudge-resistant, and tear-resistant, these prints can handle anything thrown their way.

Instead of keeping your photos tucked away in an album out of fear they might get ruined, proudly display all your precious memories knowing this paper can withstand the test of time. Moving to a new home? These prints won’t get damaged even if all the boxes tip over during the U-Haul ride to your new place. Coffee spills, curious kid fingers, and nosy pets are no match for sturdy ZINK paper.

Not to mention, all prints also feature an adhesive backing that make it easy to turn them into stickers. Slap one up on a bulletin board in your dorm room or paste a print onto a letter you send to Grandma. However you choose to use your prints, ZINK printing technology was created to let you live creatively.

Sustainable creativity at your fingertips

Without any cartridges or ribbons to replace, HP ZINK printers were designed with the environment in mind. There’s no need to throw anything away since all you need is paper to create stunning photos. Not only does this keep the health of our planet in mind, but it also makes the entire process more streamlined. Print your way, any day.

HP ZINK printers are ideal for any on-the-go creative mind who wants to merge their digital memories with tangible art. From the HP Sprocket printer to the HP Sprocket 2-in-1 camera, there’s an HP ZINK gadget out there to delight every tech user.
