Rated 1 out of 5 by 1V925UA laptop from HP Care Smart Friend After being told by a service representative that their technicians were familiar with my 1V925UA laptop issues and could fix them, I was charged promptly transferred to a former British colony outside the USA where I had problems understanding the representative and had numerous dropped calls. Six hours later they could not fix my issue and said they would refund my money. I am getting my computer fixed locally.

However the only thing that I would have preferred is a built in DVD drive instead of a separate unit.

I will never buy another HP product because of HP Smartfriend and HP's associated policies, specifically cancellation. In order to get any assistance you have to buy a subscription. Competitors like Apple and Microsoft you can walk into a store and be helped. Other subscription services you can cancel with a click in an app or online. HP Smartfriend you call to cancel and they have to file a case number that could take 5-10 business for you to simply cancel a service you the consumer as paying for. This is utterly ridiculous! HP has lost a customer for life and I recommend you avoid them as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sam44 from Always solved problems for our 4 computers in years of using them. An absolute must unless you are a computer geek. I've had the family plan (covers 4 computers) for years. They are extremely helpful. If you don't need them this year your lucky but next year you might need them more than once. Only once in about 15 years did I get someone who could not help so I just said I'd call back which I did and got a smartfriend who solved my problem in about 5 minutes. Even at the cost for a year, it is certainly cheaper than having to use a local company. Plus they are so convenient. They solve the problems as soon as possible and you don't have to be without the computer. I highly recommend them.

They could not install Windows 10 on an hp pavillion laptop after many hours and many techs trying. Final tech said they could not do it so I asked for refund. No response from them and it took 3 months to dispute charge on credit card; charge was NOT cancelled. When I called to cancel service they say "Billing will get back to you in 5-10 business days" which will probably entail another monthly charge.

On my receipt it clearly shows "HP 1 year SmartFriend Service UL054E" $95.99. This is extremely frustrating and tiring to convince a person on the other end of the phone that I do indeed have SmartFriends, which I purchased when I purchased the computer directly from HP on March 26, 2022 and HP did not deliver until 06 May 2022 (FedEx 572683355949) I suspect what has happened is that HP has not "activated"? My Smart Friends contract that I purchased directly from HP. I would very much like for HP to do the responsible thing and resolve this issue so that I don't have to spend time Trying To Convince a Smart Friends agent that I have a current and valid subscription each and every single time I call for assistance. I have addressed this to HP to no avail.

Received HP email confirmation of purchase with phone numbers which are disconnected. Had to go to HP sales chat and threaten to cancel entire purchase to get working phone numbers. Took hours to work through their chair of command to a manager who finally fixed the problem.

I want to know the difference between the 1 year subscription Smart Friend and the basic 1 year Smart Friend
