HP Z38c 37.5-inch Curved Monitor

5/5
Bought this to upgrade the home office setup. Really nice fix that replaced two 24” monitors and their massive stand and collapsed my cord situation substantially by eliminating my docking station. Very easy setup and high quality picture for everyday work. Highly recommend!!

The Veda mount that attaches with two tiny screws stripped on two of them while tightening. Be careful attaching it.

HP Z27u G3 QHD Display

5/5
I got this as a step up from my old HP 23 inch monitor, and I'm not disappointed. The resolution is excellent (and much better than on the old one), the height adjustment is perfect, the USB-C connection is convenient. All definitely worth the higher cost. Only complaint is that the setup was impossible to do without customer support because the instructions were poor to nonexistent, and support was hard to get quickly.

What is an OLED display?

OLED stands for “organic light-emitting diode,” which is a type of digital display that uses organic compounds instead of an electric current to create images. This makes an OLED panel more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient than other types of monitors, which use backlights and power-hungry batteries to create images.
OLED technology is similar to LCD displays except that they use organic compounds instead of inorganic substances, such as glass as a material for the pixels. Organic components allow an OLED panel to emit light without needing a backlight which is what makes them more energy-efficient than other types of displays. Because they don’t use any electricity, OLED panels also provide significantly fewer layers in the screen matrix than LCD panels.

What is an OLED monitor?

OLED monitors are a newer type of monitor that uses organic light-emitting diodes to display images. This means that each pixel in an OLED screen emits its own light, rather than relying on a backlight. This results in truer colors and deeper blacks than regular LCD screens, as well as improved viewing angles.
OLEDs are also thinner and lighter than regular LCDs, and they don't suffer from the image retention or burn-in issues that can occur with some LCD screens. However, OLED burn-in can occur if OLED monitors are left out in direct sunlight for an extended period of time. However, this is rare for most OLED monitors and is most likely to occur with an older OLED TV and display.

Go full-on HDR

High dynamic range (HDR) is a technology that allows for a greater range of luminosity between the lightest and darkest parts of an image. This is achieved by displaying a greater number of color shades between black and white.
When combined with OLED, you can enjoy much more control over the display, resulting in superior HDR performance by giving images deeper blacks and brighter whites. This allows you to watch HDR content as intended. And if it's your first time, you may be astonished by how it compares to SDR content.

Advantages of using OLED gaming monitors

OLED pixels produce vivid and accurate colors that are perfect for PC gaming. In particular, PC gamers often look for two features while purchasing a gaming monitor: response time and refresh rates.

Response time

Response time is the time it takes the pixels to respond to the signal sent by the graphics card. The faster the response time, the smoother the graphics will look while playing. More OLED displays come with excellent response time, making them ideal for PC gaming.

Refresh rate

Refresh rate is the number of times per second the monitor draws the image on the screen. The higher the variable refresh rate, the smoother the gaming experience will be and the better the monitor is for competitive gaming on your PC.

Best OLED monitors from HP®

Some of our best OLED gaming monitors include the HP OMEN 27c QHD Curved 240Hz Gaming Monitor and the HP OMEN 25i Gaming FHD Monitor.
The HP OMEN 27c QHD OLED gaming monitor features include an incredible 240Hz refresh rate and 3000:1 contrast ratio. The HP OMEN 25i OLED gaming monitor offers an excellent 165Hz with 1ms response time as well as AMD FreeSync™ Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility. Even better, you can get it without worrying about a huge price tag.
Regardless of which OLED gaming monitor you choose, you'll immediately notice how real and immersive your gaming experience feels and how much you'll be able to see the individual pixels and color accuracy.
Console gamers can also use an OLED gaming monitor to get more out of their PS5, Xbox Series X, or Nintendo Switch. It is also a more affordable option compared to bigger OLED TVs.

What else do you need to know about OLED screens?

OLEDs offer superior image quality. The black levels are much darker than on LCDs, resulting in richer, more natural colors and a wide color gamut. In addition, OLEDs are much brighter than LCDs and can be viewed from wider angles without distortion. This is why many QD OLED gaming monitors are curved, making a QD OLED monitor prime for following quick action with a lot of screen real estate.

Their design

Another advantage of OLEDs is their thinness. An OLED display can be as thin as 0.1mm, which is about one-tenth the thickness of an LCD panel. This makes an OLED monitor ideal for portable devices such as laptops and tablets, as well as desktop setups situated in a tighter space.

How to choose the right OLED monitor

When choosing an OLED display, there are a few things you need to take into consideration. First, think about how you'll use it. If it's for professional use, then you'll want to make sure that it has all the features you need, such as a high color gamut, greater contrast, sharper native resolution, and a wide viewing angle.
If you're looking for a monitor for everyday use, then you'll want to think about things like size and resolution. Make sure to get one that fits comfortably on your desk and has a resolution that meets your needs. Another thing to consider is how much you're willing to spend on your OLED monitor. They can be a little bit more expensive than traditional monitors, but the benefits are definitely worth it.

USB-C and HDMI Ports for OLED Monitors

The most common ports on OLED monitors are USB Type-C and HDMI. USB Type-C is a newer, reversible port that is quickly becoming the standard across many devices.
A USB-C port offers faster data transfer speeds and can provide power to the device. These provide significantly more power than traditional USB ports as well as higher data transfer rates.
With integrated USB-C connections in several models, you can take advantage of power delivery to your laptop. Just plug in the cable from your monitor to your laptop to extend your display and charge the battery.
You’ll also cut down on clutter with ports. A single connection from your monitor to your laptop acts as a full-featured USB hub to connect your favorite accessories and peripherals, from external hard drives to printers and much more.
The HDMI port allows you to connect devices like computers, Blu-ray players, and gaming consoles to a TV or monitor. It supports high-definition video and audio signals. Both connectivity options have different uses when it comes to your OLED monitor, and which one you want depends on your use.
