HP Chromebook 11 G9 Education Edition

5/5
This is quite an impressive machine when you consider it is priced far below most "entry level" Windows based laptops. I was a little worried that it might be a little laggy due to the very modest specifications in relative terms but it is actually more than fast enough for me and is actually snappier than my Windows based desktop when used for its main purpose (which for me is web browsing, watching videos and mail). I am very impressed with the Google Chrome OS and the whole setup process took a mere 5 minutes with this machine instantly reflecting and synchronising my setups on my desktop and phone. Build quality is commensurate with my expectations given the asking price and my only real criticism would be the lack of a delete key (a purposeful decision on the part of Chromebook specifications) and the fact that I cannot easily (or in this case at all) make fine adjustments to the trackpad characteristics such as "box" areas like I could a more expensive Windows machine. That said I adapted pretty quickly and I will not hesitate to buy this model's successor when this one eventually requires replacing.

Overall a great device, but 8GB RAM feels a bit restrictive. I use the Linux VM for personal programming and learning. I have a similar device, company-issued, the enterprise edition with 32GB RAM, and that's awesome. I think, for a personal general programming, a 16GB RAM configuration would be just right.
