Shipping and Clearance Delays

When will my order ship?

Ready-to-ship products typically ship out from one of our warehouses the next business day or within 1 business day of order processing. Our warehouses ship Monday through Friday and are closed on major U.S. holidays.

Built-at-order (customized) products have a lead-time which is displayed during shopping, check-out and order confirmation. This is the date by which we expect to complete your order as configured. You may have upgraded your configuration or made no changes at all; either way, these products are not carried in stock, and we need time to source, schedule, build and test them. At that point, we prepare your order for shipment from our factory and email you ship notification so you will know your product will be on its way.

IMPORTANT: The Order Status for customized products may reflect "Processing" until just a few days prior to the actual build and ship date. That is because your order is "in line" to be worked. This is normal due to the size of our operations and order volume.

Customized products and possible shipping delays

If your tracking information with our carrier (such as FedEx or UPS) seems to be "going nowhere" or has been "Pending" for more than 5 business days, there may be a delay in pick-up from one of our warehouses. For Express and Priority orders, we work hard to get those out the same business day when placed before our cut-off time of 2:30 pm Eastern Time (Monday through Friday). Our customized laptops and other “built once ordered” computers are shipped from our factories, mostly from overseas. Occasionally due to global shipping capacity adjustments, our orders may take a day or two to begin moving. Also, please allow 1 business day for U.S. Customs clearance.

Please be aware that due to high global demand and constrained resources, carrier networks are currently experiencing intermittent delays.

PRO TIP: In case your tracking looks irregular (or as if it's going on a “world tour”), please select “Destination” or "Origin" on the tracking page to see the true sequence of your order's progress in shipment. If you're looking at the default which is “Local Scan Time”, this can give you confusing results.

Is my custom order delayed?

First, check your Estimate Ship Date for your product(s). Are we at that date yet? Also, ship notifications can be sent late into the night on the expected ship day; that means that our agents will not have further information until the business day after your Estimated Ship Date if there may be an unexpected delay.

If you have not received shipment notification and have checked spam/junk and online order status, your custom-built computer may be delayed. The HP Store will notify you on the business day after your Estimated Ship Date if your order has experienced a delay. We will provide you updated information about your order status in that email.

Should an unexpected delay occur, it is usually due to certain component constraints from our suppliers or high volume at our manufacturing site. We work hard every day to plan, project and ensure our orders stay on time and meet our quality standards. Please check your email for shipment delay notification or updates from HP.

Clearance delays

If your tracking information reflects a clearance delay or states that clearance instructions are needed from the importer, we may be experiencing a delay through U.S. Customs. We manage these actively, and no action is needed by you. It may take 1 to 2 business days to clear U.S. Customs.

Once your order clears Customs, the carrier will deliver to your shipping address. Significant tracking changes are uploaded each night, so check for additional details the following morning.
