When paired with the Z by HP preloaded software stack, HP presents a groundbreaking solution for data scientists. WSL 2 delivers a full Linux environment within Windows 10 and Windows 11, making it effortless to run your favorite CLI tools, utilities, and apps, right out of the box. You don’t need to reboot your system or run a virtual machine to launch an Ubuntu environment.

With WSL 2
WSL 2 is a simple and fast way to run an Ubuntu environment on Windows, without ever leaving the native OS. Whether you deploy a data science model on Ubuntu or you simply prefer the Ubuntu distribution for the love of command line interface, WSL 2 can let you do all of that from the comfort of your native Windows OS. With WSL 2, users get performance, file system access, system compatibility, and the GPU acceleration needed to boost productivity in AI and ML workflows. Now you get much faster file system access, FULL system calls compatibility, and GPU acceleration support2 enabling you to complete complex Linux workflows such as AI and machine learning training.
Pick your distribution of choice
While your Z by HP workstation comes preloaded with Ubuntu on WSL 2, you can also get your favorite distribution from the Microsoft Store, import a custom distribution and even build your own! Just type wsl --list --online on your WSL 2 console to see a list of available distributions.
