Rated 2 out of 5 by Anonymous from Dead End HP Envy Model After a very satisfactory seven year experience with the Envy laptop I purchased a new one recently. The only advance in design I can note is the addition of an emoji key on the function keys. This is a bit of a joke as they made finding the Power On key more difficult. Also took some time to squirrel out how to shut down the system. It's now an unexplained two-step process to get to the sign-out screen. Though I cannot think of a single advancement in design over the previous Envy model I can think of new irritations. For example attempting to write files to a back-.up disk is now also a two-step process. One more irritation is that the keyboard keys are not as clearly visible becasue the keyboard itself is no longer black but the same color as the keys. All in all Envy is a dead-end model that suffers from a lack of motivated design.

Battery life is excellent. Display is phenomenal. Plenty of ports. Speed is surprising. Ran full diagnostics and no errors found. For the quality and capabilities, this seems a remarkable value..

Not something that should be happening with a brand new laptop. Also, I never received the emails with the care plan info and it is impossible to find a # number to call customer service/tech support.

Clear screen and requires a light touch. The i7 processor is fast. Superior to my i3. Browsed one evening and found this laptop with a great cost reduction. Highly recommend.

Excellent display. Not a fan of the KB on any lap top, but this is one is quite good. USB ports run extremely well. Documentation and written materials thay come with this lap top are at best minimal, but that seems to be the case with almost all computer devices today. Short comings noted, and discounted, I think this is a terrific lap top and competitively priced. In short, I am very satisfied with the purchase, and would highly recommend it to anyone. Performance is beyond expectations.

With an Bang & Olufsen sound system built in, I was encouraged that it would be good for listening to music and videos. Unfortunately, it's barely audible for those uses. 2. The super-light toned keyboard letters, numbers and symbols on light grey/silver keys makes it hard to see in many different lighting settings. The backlighting of the outline of the keys just makes it worse.

The improvements with the battery, camera, and plug-ins are what have made me a loyal HP user. Each newer model I've purchased becomes lighter and more portable yet the reliability and durability improves as well. HP doesn't disappoint.

Operating system can be windows 10 if not comfortable with new OS. The led lighting in the keys are optimal in low to mid-bright environments. One odd view I see is the design of the touch pad. It feels a little too fragile regardless of its layer metal.

I will probably switch to another brand after this, company need to follow up with their products.

The speakers just plain ...well, the whole laptop vibrates from the speakers, and they are not loud enough, not impressed. The video card doesn't work as well as I had hoped, streaming TV stays low quality sometimes and doesn't upgrade the signal to high quality like some higher quality cards. It appears to try but, doesn't appear to be that good at it. It does start up quick, like 10 seconds, and the touch screen is very responsive.

No longer have time to cook a roast while waiting for the screen to open. Now just have to figure out how to access the printer. The best laptop for my budget for its power looks speed and longevity. I started at Dell, but they couldn’t compare and their prices were much higher. I saw the ENVY as the best bang for the buck and then I compared all the Envys until I found the one that would satisfy me. And it hasn’t let me down. The touchscreen is amazing in it’s beauty and it’s touch. The keyboard fantastic, and the number keys on the right side are essential. Hard to believe you can’t find them on so many laptops. The speakers are good. I wish they faced upward so they don’t sit in my lap, but they are still good. If you’re just going to have one computer for the house and everywhere, for me 17 inches is the way to go. massive amounts of screen can hold anything and everything. Windows 11 is good. Just update the start menu with start 11.

This HP ENVY Laptop 17-cr0747nr has a battery that will last up to 8 hours and 45 minutes between charges. Batteries lose capacity over time due to a layer of crystalline buildup that slowly coats the inside walls of the battery. This aging process increases electrical resistance and results in a gradual reduction in the amount of juice the batteries have available every time you fully charge them.
