Rated 5 out of 5 by Hooligan 82 from Upgrade well worth it! I have used the new Envy Desktop very little since setup but, so far I am very satisfied with the changes and enhancements in the computer. It is much quieter in operation, coupled with a new monitor, much more flexible for multiple uses. With Windows 11 s a bonus, I imagine this combination will exceed my capabilities rapidly! Very happy with the entire package.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Koirash from Fast, plenty of memory. I bought this PC to replace a 9 year old HP Pavilion, that although still functional, couldn't handle the latest photo editing software (e.g. ON1). Pleased with the speed and windows 11. Only criticism is the single HDMI outlet & the very poor quality mouse that was included.

Rated 3 out of 5 by J-Harpswell from Why not provide a how-to booklet that actually matches the computer? I bought the Envy as an upgrade from my 5-year-old Pavillion. The quick-start booklet that came with the Envy matched my previous one, even though the outlets on the Envy were somewhat changed. I had no clue how to attach some of my devices. It certainly slowed things down and left a bad taste in my mouth from the beginning. Doesn’t anyone do quality checking at HP?

Rated 5 out of 5 by Space Cadet from Great computer if you don't require a tweakers or overclockers motherboard Really fast computer in operation but a rather slow booter at 38 seconds tops. (That is with Thunderbolt attached to external drives and all USB filled. ***One IMPORTANT Note** When you get your machine, remove the motherboard coin battery and check its voltage. I bought two of these computers and the voltage was between 2.7 and 2.9 volts. I had a rather difficult time with erratic boots, no boots, boot to UEFI with extremely slow keyboard operation and boots that lasted 6 minutes. I narrowed it down to the battery, which I swapped out and since then everything has been working dependably. The battery is a 2032 coin battery and should read around 3.3volts, the higher the better. You've been warned. The motherboard has few options, no tweaking of anything but... - It is a Z690 motherboard without the tweaking options of competitors. - It has PCI-E 5.0 taken by the NVidia card (the only single slot on the board) - It uses DDR4-3200 memory with specific specs, Micron CAS 21 and 1.20volts, all memory will slow if you put any XMP memory in it. Don't do that. Find Crucial memory sticks with the above timings (which actually match the OEM memory) and all your memory will run at 3200. I have 48GB installed. Supports both single and dual channel. - It has a bunch of great SuperSpeed USB ports, only two of which are USB 2.0, which should be used for your keyboard and mouse. - It has a Thunderbird 4 port on backside. Wonderfully used with a Thunderbolt 4 hub and I'm getting insane transfer speeds between computer and external drives. - The case will take liquid cooling in the form of ONLY one 120MM cooling fan and matching radiator. This fits to an inside top plate meant for such a purpose. The motherboard fan pins say Pump. - The available drives are two M.2 2280 slots (both NVMe) and one unused Sata port (for a 2.5" or 3.5" drive. - The power supply is standard ATX, a 800watt Gold CoolerMaster. You can swap it out for something better. I did. - Has one 120mm fan in back and 90mm fan in front. A CPU tower fin with huge fan cools the cpu. - HWMonitor temps are 85F on base use and sips 35watts of power on sleep. - The wireless is Wifi6 and connects to my home wireless at 866/866mbits, and rock solid too, unlike other wireless I've had. The computer is fast enough that you don't need to limit its shelf life by a desire to tweak the UEFI, overvolting, re-timing it, slowly killing it over time with increased heat. You gain nothing. Enjoy the computer, it's more than plenty fast and dependable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by TheBirdMan22 from Performance is good, but lots of bloatware with the OS install. No expansion slots available or accessible on mother board. Maybe hidden behind graphics card, but they should be easily visible & usable. The OS was loaded with bloatware. The OS was also installed with Bitlocker so doing a clean install of Win 11 is challenging for the basic user. For the price it should of came with 64GB Ram vs the 16GB that came with it. The 12th generation i7 processor works and performs very well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by BoxK from Good specs, horrible support, poor memory upgrade I feel like I should have bought another PC; mainly because of the trouble I have had around upgrading the memory. Before purchasing the PC I compared the specs of this HP vs the competitors and found them to be comparable for the price. The HP had less memory than the other PC I was considering, though the specs for the HP said it is upgradable and the Q&A from this site also says the memory is upgradable. So, I bought the HP since the PC I was replacing was also and HP and had served me well for many years with many upgrades done to it. I installed additional memory, per the HP specs, only to find that the memory is slowed down to 2133mhz instead of the 3200mhz capable. Originally, I thought I had purchased the wrong memory, so I double checked the specs and bought memory with an exact match to the memory specified in HPs motherboard page for this PC. That new memory was also slowed to 2133mhz. So, I talked with HP support. Long story short, I talked with hardware support twice. Each time they transferred me to another department, new pc sales and HP Smartfriend (which you have to pay for support). Both new pc sales and HP Smartfriend told me that they couldn't help me and that I needed to talk to hardware support. Something as simple as upgrading the memory has me disappointed with the new pc and with HP.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Zoidly from HP ENVY i7 Tower w/Nvidia RTX 3070 ti This is an awesome desktop! Pays virtually everything at sometimes insane framerates (Minecraft: 952FPS). Wanted to do a couple upgrades and that's where the trouble started... The motherboard only has two PCIE slots which are occupied by the video card. There's only one SATA data port so an additional hard drive is out of the question. There's also only one NVME slot (also taken). I'm still quite satisfied, but just not to the level I would have expected for the money - thus the 4-star rating. Might need to flip it while the Nvidia cards are still hot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Lexington57 from I would buy it again. Over all, I like it. This computer was bought to replace a 10 year old unit that I use at home. Obviously, a few things have changed over that time and a most of the bugs encountered during setup were related to that. I was surprised (Thou I shouldn't have been), that a CD/DVD player was not part of the original configuration. The new computer has enough horse power/memory for everything I want to do, including some high graphic intensive ones. I would buy it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Luis M from Love everything about this PC! I've had this computer for a few days now and I'm in love with it. I like the modern look and it pairs well with my HP U32 monitor, HP 930 mouse, HP 950 webcam, and HP 970 keyboard. I also love using my HP Tablet 11 as a secondary monitor. Adding a second internal SSD was easier than I thought. This desktop has great performance and it works well with Adobe After Effects. It can also play Fortnite at high settings at 80 fps in 4K!

Follow up question to "How many Internal 3.5" Bays (total and available)?" Just to be clear, you say up to 2x SSD, but you say 1x SATA SSD + 2x M.2 PCIe SSD, so doesn’t that equal 3x SSD?

Asked by: RFGJR
According to the specifications, this will have one available internal 3.5" bay. The other two are PCIe SSD and are not 3.5" SSD hard drives but NVMe PCIe SSDs. So yes one internal 3.5" bay for an upgrade. And yes that would equal a total of three additional SSD.
