These toners cost 3x than they should
If HP's strategy is to price the toners as high as the market allows, siting R&D and other factors, combined with minimal support for new printers, than I don't see how they will retain customers in the long run. With the cost of the toner so high, HP should give out printers for free.

The toner you should buy
I have the HP Color LaserJet M551dn and this is the toner I use. The last eight toners have yielded on average for me 8,549 pages each. I track my usage and yield for the printer in a spreadsheet. Since December 3, 2013: 25,038 monochrome & 48,907 color pages. Average 37 pages per day. For consistent reliable print quality, buy HP.

The product works okay, but very expensive for what you get. I'm used to paying a lot, but I get a lot more from other toners. Maybe it's the printer. In any, I wish it would last longer or not be so costly. I have an HP M551, I don't recommend it, it uses too much ink, or perhaps the inks does not go as far. Either way don't buy.
