HP Z2 G9 Tower Workstation - Customizable
The 5-star rating is for the hardware. The SSD and RAM are blazingly fast, and there is plenty of room for expanding both memory and storage. And I am glad that HP still offers a choice to purchase a PC with a read-write optical disk.
On the other hand, the operating system (Windows 11 22H2), gets 1.5 stars at best. Useful commands have been hidden behind additional layers of context menus, and the Taskbar customization is now limited to the point where I can't uncombine taskbar icons or change them into text labels as in Windows 7. Microsoft needs to realize there is a good reason why hieroglyphics fell out of favor! Finally, the placement of the taskbar icons and especially the Start menu -- which are all now centered -- violates usability principles, as they move around the bottom of the screen depending on how many programs you have open, so before clicking you have to look directly and make sure where they have moved to.
All these user-interface defects required extensive modification with Start11 and WindowBlinds, which make it possible to return to a sensible interface.
HP Z2 Mini G9 Workstation - Customizable
I owned a Z2 mini g5. I love the small format for traveling. Makes the perfect mobile desktop and now comes with a full graphics card. The only issue, I cannot connect to more than 1 monitor in some situations. But, I don't blame HP, It has to be a Windows 11 or Nvidia issue.
HP Z2 Small Form Factor G9 Workstation - Customizable
It looks like all of the reviews are the result of a promotional consideration. I didn't get a promotional incentive to write this review. I have bought the EliteDesk HP computers for as long as they have been offered. I decided to try a Z2. Goodbye EliteDesk--you were good but Z2 is better. Of course it depends on how you customize it but comparing HP computers with like specs the ZE is vastly superior to the EliteDesk. I still have in operable condition every EliteDesk I have ever owned but I upgrade every four years because of changes in technology and operating systems. I buy only HP computers and the Z2 Small Form G9 is my present choice.
HP ZBook Studio G9 Mobile Workstation PC- Customizable
This laptop has 3 USB-Type C ports & 1 USB-Type A port. As a result, I needed to purchase (1) an ethernet/USB-Type C adapter for the router, (2) a mouse for a USB-Type C port, (3) a cable to connect a printer or scanner to a USB-Type C port, and (4) a flash drive for a USB-Type C port. These purchases have delayed my getting acquainted with the laptop itself.
