The unit did not work and it is taking almost a month to get a replacement. I am not confident that the new one will work either and my ability to return it will have expired due to this delay- this is not the level of customer service I would expect from HP when the product is faulty.

terrrible purchase
dock doesnt recognize external monitor and external hard drive after windows 11 21h2 update a week after one year warranty expired. i have spent over 8 hours with tech support after paying for a one year subscription for Tech Help.. there are no driver updates available. I purchased HP Envy laptop and dock at same time. Windows 10 with upgrade to windows 11 was loaded on laptop when purchased. ech support is now questioning whether windows 11 software is corrupted.

Does not work!!!
Thunderbolt did not work with my HP laptop. I called HP prior to purchase to insure I was buying the right device for my system and needs. Spent 3.5 hours on the phone with the Tech trying to get it to work and had to pay an additional $60 for this worthless service. I am returning this $270 Thunderbolt.

Easy Setup of my laptop and monitor
This dock is great. It made setting up my new laptop and monitor super easy. Just plug in the cable to their appointed slots and you're done. It even came with a HDMI to USB C adapter which was great because that meant I didn't have to hunt down a new monitor cable. The adapter worked great and I was working on my laptop and using a full-sized monitor to make it easier to see everything. I trust HP and so does my company, so it's always been my go-to tech company and this docking station sealed the deal. HP for life! :)

THUNDERBOLT NAIVE
I was naive to think a universal Thunderbolt docking station would be. Only after extensive review of reviews did the "Best Docking Stations" only make sense if their chip set is compatible to your chip set. So I went to online HP expert help to find my match. However the G2 pro's are it will turn on my closed Omen and the old VGA monitor plugged right in. The con's are smart charger tech included won't let the 120 watt charger actually charge the 200 watt omen. So each still needs it's own charger.

Cons:
The fan on this thing is obnoxiously loud to me.
The entire top is an on/off button so it's incredibly annoyingly easy to turn the thing off by accident.
When my screens come out of power saver mode it causes one of them (random which one) to go from all white to normal display and back again which requires me to unplug the dock and plus it back in.
For the price of this thing it is an absolute fail. Unfortunately my company provided it to me so I'm stuck with it.

Good, except for two things.
Good product, working great, except for two things: 1) top is actually a large button that simulates the power button. I've hit this thing multiple times when I was trying to plug in cables and accidentally shut down or put my computer to sleep. So I don't think it's a good placement. 2) no HDMI port, but it did come with HDMI to USB C adapter. It does come with display ports as the other options.

What to expect when getting the thunder bolt dock.

My recent purchase of a HP EliteBook 860 16 inch G9 Notebook PC required the purchase of a HP Thunderbolt Dock 120W with HDMI Adapter to allow me to utilize my shared dual monitors, keyboard, mouse, camera, microphone and speakers though my KVM switch. My previous HP Elite docking station was $70.00, this one well over $350.00 not a bargain for most folks

Dock is supposed to make things easier to use
I like the dock but today it quit communicating with my external wired mouse and keyboard. I had to search online to find out that I needed to disconnect them and reconnect them as well as the dock to my laptop. Not pleased that I need to do that; and I hope it doesn't happen very often.

Not as good as I would have expected from HP
I bought this dock along with a monitor and a new laptop - the laptop arrived well after the return period for the monitor & dock so I couldn't test them out prior to the laptop arrival. Guess I should've ordered the laptop alone and then the dock because the dock seems to have a bunch of defective ports. The monitor keeps losing its connection (and I've changed to a new cable) and just now, the keyboard (USB) decided not to work and I had to reboot several times (losing some work, by the way) to finally get it to work. And yes, the keyboard isn't the problem, I can hook it right into a USB port on the laptop and it's fine. This was a lot of money for something I have to keep "adjusting" almost daily.

The dock not keep the HP Envy computer charged and still have to plug in my AC power adapter to charge the computer. The dock was advertised to do this The pics of the dock in the HP advertising should be modify to show both the AC adapter and the dock being hooked to the laptop

This thunderbolt dock is amazing! All of my peripherals are connected and I simply just plug in the thunderbolt cord: I don’t even need the battery for the laptop! It’s so convenient to just press down the top of the dock to turn my laptop on and off! So happy with this purchase!

I bought this a couple weeks ago, and the power indicator doesn't display the power being on or off. The only way I know it is on is the power cable in the rear is lit up! The USB port doesn't work. I'm totally disappointed, and shock.

Dock for my Spectre x360 15.6"
I bought this for my Spectre x360 15.6" with i7 (gen 11 => Thunderbolt 4). Most days it works superbly; on a few days after it restarts from sleep, I have to shut down and restart. The after-purchase of the audio module has been a nice addition for video conferencing. The biggest plus is that it allows me to drive three monitors in addition to the built-in screen (two 1080P and one UHD). Perhaps it is the 4 total screens and the auto sleep that leads to occasional minor problems at restart from sleep. I will likely get the next generation dock for Thunderbolt 4 when it is available.

Great Dock!
I recently purchased a customized Elite Book for its processing power and internal storage, but had to accept old style ports. On my desk it felt like it was on life support with seven cables plugged in and impacted portability. On HP store recommendation I was pointed to this dock which has greatly simplified by cabling and has almost every port I need. Nice design. Worked right away.

However, laptops must be able to support USB-C™ power, video, data, and/or Thunderbolt™ industry standards. Is there a symbol of a lightning bolt (Thunderbolt 3) next to the USB-C port? Then you can use this port to charge and transfer a video signal. That means you can connect a monitor. This port supports DisplayPort alt mode. If you have that port on your HP EliteBook this will be compatible. You can also use HDMI 2.0 for multiple displays with this dock.

Is the Thuderbolt Dock 120W w HDMI adapter compatible with the HP Pavilion 15t-eg000 for video output from the 3 video outputs (2 DP and 1 VGA ) ?
I have 3 monitors running this way on my HP Zbook Firefly 15 and the Thunderbolt Dock 120W. My laptop is closed so it's not being displayed as a 4th separate monitor per se, but you can leave it open to duplicate one of the screens if you wanted. The 3 monitors displaying 3 separate screens connect via 2 DP and 1 VGA successfully with no glitches or lags.

Will this work for 2 external monitors on HP Notebook 15-dy1043dx? If not, is there one that will?
I have the HP Thunderbolt G2 dock and I am running 3x HD external monitors without issue; laptop closed. Search the internet for the G2 dock. Note that there is a design flaw with the internal fan potentially failing; squeaking noise. Its not a dust issue for I took apart the old dock, it is just a bad fan. Once you obtain the new dock, mark you calendar for 11 months and check for the noise, if present, at that date for warranty replacement if necessary.

I have an HP Thunderbolt 120W and trying to connect to an Apple HD Cinema Display with an Apple ADC to Display Port converter. The display is recognized, but nothing will display. This worked with my hp 2013 ultraslim docking station.
I have the Thunderbolt dock connected to an HP Firefly laptop, the issue is with connecting an Apple monitor to the dock. It does not work on the Thunderbolt dock, but does work on the old HP Ultraslim Docking Station. Why doesn't it work?

Do you have a cord that would support extending the USB-C 3 Thunderbolt to the laptop. The hardwired cord does not have sufficient length.
HP does not manufacture a USB-C extension cable but they are available via our retail partners. The Dock needs to be connected directly to the PC itself, using an extension cable can impact charging and can create communication issues as well.
