HP 58A Laser Toner Cartridge
Substitutes for the highly-priced HP 58A may not work even if advertised to include “the chip” which locks the 58A into the HP network.
On the other hand, for the everyday household casual user, the 58A seems to last forever, well beyond its low toner earnings, so it’s extremely high price and stocked rarity in the marketplace could be justified if we were assured replacement were totally new and not recycled out of HP’s prepaid used cartridge return program.

Difficulty with ordering.
When my cartridge was low I tapped on the screen to Oder a replacement. Then an HP screen offered me a toner which didn’t match the simple number I was expecting. Figuring anew number replaced the old one I ordered that longer numbered cartridge. It was wrong, but I’m thankful you have a one time return policy and allowed me to order the simple numbered cartridge I couldn’t find initially.

WORST TONER I'VE EVER BOUGHT (more than 30 years buying toner)
UTTER CRAP - this was a GENUINE HP toner cartridge - less than 20 prints in and it is fading. Can't buy NON HP STUFF, the chip that's not there voids the warranty on the OVERPRICED PRINTER - BUT THE TERRIBLE TONER - PURCHASED FROM HP ITSELF - IS UTTER HIGHWAY ROBBERY. Do yourself a favor and buy a different brand of printer, and certainly a different brand of toner

Excellent toner cartridge
This high-yield toner cartridge was easy to install. So far it has produced several thousand pages of black and white documents. The printer reports that only about one-fourth of the toner has been used. Print quality is excellent.

Completely worthless
HP 406 is completely worthless. It comes with the USP port disabled so if you want to connect your printer directly up to your computer you must enable the port. After I enabled the USB port my computer still could not find the printer.

This is not the magnetic toner for MICR printing. The MICR toner for HP is by Troy Group. You would have two options, the TROY M404/M428/M406 MICR Toner Secure Standard Yield and the TROY M404/M428/M406 MICR Toner Secure HY on the Troy Group website.
