Poor customer service
Poor customer service. I bought this product then realized it was not needed with the HP laptop I purchased. Tried several times to return it and they never offered that as an option. I was prepared to pay a restocking fee but now they kept the entire $250 and didn't even respond to my refund request. I would not recommend purchasing from HP!

Dock is useless
I would not recommend this product to anyone. My Dock is useless, with only the ability to supply power to the note book. None of the USB or HDMI ports function, I opened HP Case Number: 5147997772 on 8/29/25 yet no response absolutely zero help from the validation team so I'm stuck with a very expensive brick. Don't waste your time or money

Excellent hub + power for HP laptops
I read a lot of reviews on the hub not supporting HDMI well. I went ahead and bought it and connected my external 24" LG monitor, 2 network cables (one via a USB-C adapter), external HDD, mouse. Have been using it for over a month and it works perfectly for all devices. Really nice that all of these devices + power are all supplied via the single USB-C to my HP laptop. Maybe once a week or so the external HDMI monitor disconnects for 1-2 seconds then comes back without issues. I wouldn't call that a problem. Highly recommend getting this to eliminate the cable clutter to a laptop. Makes it really simple to disconnect everything for when I need to take my laptop with me.

Dead Ports
Not all ports worked... The HDMI port and the power port would not work out of the box. If I plugged my 2nd monitor directly into the laptop's HDMI, the monitor it worked perfectly. However, when I plugged the 2nd monitor into the dock's HDMI port, it did not work at all. Nor would the dock actually charge my laptop. I finally got in touch with a live person, and they would not even talk to me about the actual DOCK problems, because the HP laptop I use has had extra RAM installed. I simply asked for a refund at that point...

Compatible with Pavilion 16 and charges laptop
I left a review on a HP Thunderbolt 120W Dock G4 saying is was compatible with my Pavilion 16 which was wrong. I returned that for the USB-C Dock G5 which is actually the dock I ended up buying because it is truly compatible with the Pavilion 16. Charges the laptop, has all the ports I need to keep a clean desktop and connect to the Samsung TV I use for a monitor. It may be more expensive than other docking stations but they wouldn't do everything I needed. The only thing I that's comparable is the similar IBM ThinkPad dock which is around the same price.

It's fine but glitchy.
These don't seem to be very stable. I have them in my office and my third monitor has never worked properly with it. I've had others that just fail to connect to a laptop until we've rebooted the laptop 3+ times. The 1 year warranty is pretty limiting when you have issues like this.

Great docking station, all the features I need and works flawlessly so far.
I replaced a desktop PC that I built in 2010 because it would not support Windows 11. I went with a laptop to have with me when I travel and wanted to continue using my dual displays and wired network connection and sound system in my home office. This was very easy to install, update and configure and has all the features I needed.

The dock has worked well since I got it. I use two monitors, a wired keyboard & mouse, and a scanner. The only issue has been it doesn't power my laptop so I have to plug the laptop and the dock into outlets at the same time.

Convenient, sleek, compact and well-equipped with ports, the HP USB-C Dock G5 is a great dock for port-poor laptops and multi-device desk setups for any professional. The USB C Dock G5 has been very effective in supporting my connection of 2 monitors plus my laptop. It does not take up an inordinate amount of desk space. Very pleased after 1 month of use. Using with an HP Elitebook 745 G6 and 2 24" monitors.

I previously ordered a different model docking station that didn't work so I contacted HP for the USB-C Dock G5 and was informed it would work with the HP Pavilion, - it of course did not, could not get the monitors to display. You should know your products!

This dock may not work with your laptop
After extensive texting with an HP Associate who assured me this would work with my laptop it does not. Spent about 1 hour with HP prior to purchase and then another hour with support to find out it was as I suspected the docking station would not work with the Elitebook G5. So I'm now waiting on my office to get me a new laptop and will try again later.

Worry free docking station for Windows OS devices.
Using the docking station with a Lenovo ThinkPad X1, a HP Elite laptop, two Dell monitors, a Razor Kiyo Pro and Logi headset, and it is a seamless plug in and use experience. I'm not giving 5 stars as the standard USB-C cable would be better placed on the back side from my point of view to keep the desk free of cable clutter.

Nice Dock but Won't Shut-off
Doesn't shut off either by pushing he button or shutting down the computer and therefore anything pulled directly in stay running such as my external harddrive. I have an HP dock at work which when I shut down my computer it shuts down and then when I turn on the dock, my computer and system turns on. Not sure why this isn't doing the same thing.

Double monitors and keyboard all connected!
This hooked up right away for me. I tried it with a single screen setup for a while and decided to add a second screen and everything worked great right from the start. I also have my usb for my keyboard plugged in and it works great. I'm using 2 - 24" BenQ monitors and the wireless comfort keyboard 5050.

Easy to set up. Everything worked on the first try. Just had to adjust screens once on. I have wireless mouse and keyboard plugged into (USB) the dock too. No issues there. I run two configurations, both with two external monitors. I sometimes use the laptop(HP Spectre) for a third display or I keep the laptop closed and just use the two external monitors.
