I have no issues with this printer and glad that I paid the little bit extra to get my desired outcome. I use to buy the printers that were priced $100 to $150, they were okay but there was some issue once the machine was used for awhile eg not been able to print from wifi, having to turn off and then on again. I’ve had no issues with this printer, absolutely love it.

I previously had a HP Officejet 8630 (I think), which I had for 27 years with no problems till it finally had a printer system problem. Well, you can't complain about 27 years of faithful service with no problems, so of course I bought another HP product.

There was lengthy wait bfore I received refund for the HP Smart Tank 7005 All-in-One Printer. Nearly a month to pick up and of course I had already paid for the HP9130e. Instant ink has begun. All rather frustrating but all seems ok now.

I purchased the first about 12 months ago and it always had problems with going to sleep and needing to be restarted to get a print, The new printer purchased a few weeks ago so far is working fine although it was difficult to install on a PC without WiFi. Also we get error messages when printing from iPads. Whilst we like the Smart Tank concept and the long lasting inks it is still the worst HP printer we have owned.

Covered by a "No questions asked" return policy, I set about installing my new printer. Slowly, step by step, I followed the printed instructions. Verify each step carefully. I then went online and did all the WiFi set up using the HP Smart App. Job done. Excellent, clear and accurate instructions made the operation a pleasure. The first printed sheet, a full size A4 photograph from my iPhone? STUNNING! Scanning? No sweat. Copy. Easy peasy. Link to Apple, Android and Windows on two phones, an iPad and a Notebook pc. Piece of cake.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Just NO! from Worst printer ever purchased This is by far the worst printer I have brought from HP it was not usable at 30 pages because of some certificate issue with my Mac, I followed the direction and nothing worked, didn’t help I needed to print photos for mums funeral. I sat down and did everything again and nothing….i had to factory reset turn AirPrint off in advanced settings reset everything re do certificate and re-enable its worked so far. Why HP do this is beyond me and it absolutely ruins the product. For those that have the certificate issue when you do a self signed go into advanced disable and leave AirPrint then turn everything off restart and re-enable AirPrint. I should have to trouble shoot this stupidity in order to print something. Not happy JAN!

Bought this printer 5 months ago and was very happy with it until 2 months ago. The printer now keeps logging out of my internet and is now very hard to get logged back in, I have only been able to print a few pages in the last 2 months. This is the worst printer that I have ever had and I would not buy HP again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by GPPro from HP - You've converted me I'll be completely honest and state from the start that I have never previously owned and/or used a HP Printer prior to the Smart Tank 7005. Despite having several printers at work and home, I somehow fell into the habit of just buying the same brand that I have always previously used. Probably just laziness on my part but I just thought it would be "easier" to stick with what I knew. When the opportunity came up to be a part of this promotion, I jumped at the opportunity so see firsthand the differences between what I was comfortable with and a new brand. All I can say is wow! I had no idea that what I thought was the best and easiest brand to use wasn't actually true. The HP Smart Tank 7005 was simple to set up, works perfectly with my Surface Pro and other handheld devices, and prints, copies and scans perfectly. I was a bit apprehensive about using standalone ink bottles, but it is so much easier than I thought it would be and will work out a heap cheaper in the long run compared to cartridges. I can now proudly state that I am a converted HP user and have already purchased an additional Smart Tank 7005 for one of my staff. He also raves about the product. Keep up the great work and continue developing great products like this HP and you'll keep this now loyal customer very happy!

It prints in very high resolution, and with very nice colours. It was a nice touch for the printer ink refills to come in bottles, making for much cheaper refills. The companion app for this printer is also amazing, with a seamless experience, and is very easy to use. If I had one complaint about this printer, it would be that it prints fairly slowly, but other than that, a wonderful printer!

Initially, I expected it to be slightly larger, given its intended use as a small office printer or a high-volume home printer. However, I was pleasantly surprised by its compact size, which turned out to be quite convenient. I was a bit apprehensive about the initial setup, especially through the HP app, but everything ran smoothly without any issues. Refilling the ink tank was a breeze, with no spillage or ink leakage on my fingers, a relief for anyone who has struggled with cartridge refills before! Printing from my desktop, laptop, and phone has become an effortless task. The printer's feature that allows me to send a file for printing even when I'm away from home eliminates the need to copy files to a USB stick or send them via email. Additionally, the privacy pick-up option ensures that I can control printing tasks before my arrival at my home office. I'm impressed by the printer's speed when it comes to text and black/colour photo prints. The capacity to handle 200-gram cards and 250-gram photo paper is perfect for my needs, as I frequently print leaflets and high-quality photo prints. The vibrant colours are nearly identical to how they appear on the screen, although some adjustments to my screen display were necessary to achieve precise results. HP claims that the included ink will last for two years, but of course, this depends on the printing volume of each user. Though I seldom use the copy function, I decided to put it to the test, and it performed remarkably fast. The 128 MB memory buffer seems to be doing its job well. Scanning documents is a function I frequently utilize, and I'm especially fond of the PDF output option, which is practically the standard for exchanging business documents nowadays. Another standout feature is the ID copy function, which allows users to copy both sides of a document onto a single page, a time-saving convenience that many users will appreciate.

Connects seamlessly with my computer without any mess around. Ink was easy to install and despite multiple colour heavy printing jobs we’re yet to make a dent in it, seems like the ink will last a VERY long time! Print quality is excellent, colours come out really vibrant and clear. Printer does double sided printing really easily as well and love that the paper is stored in a tray at the bottom rather than it poking out the top. As an added bonus, looks great on the desk!

The animations made the process quick and easy. I was pleased with the amount of ink provided in each of the 4 bottles but was a little apprehensive about the mess that they might have created when emptying into the device. I'm pleased to report that there was no mess - the bottles and printer are designed so that spillage is not an issue at all. I did manage to get a tiny amount of ink on one finger, but that was my mistake, as a result of touching the printer head, which I won't do in subsequent refills. I've been very impressed with printing via my smartphone (which is my preferred method) and the fact that private pick-up is an option (similar to what commercial printers offer in secure print functionality, or similar), something I've never had in a home office printer. Would've really liked to have seen a little screen added to this device, similar to the lower-end devices, however, given that I use the app to print, I probably wouldn't get a great deal of value out of it. Its responsive and prints quickly and has been a pleasure to use, I would definitely recommend this device at this price-point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Akaiready from Great workhorse printer Note - My first printer was defective on arrival, but HP support sent a replacement without too much hassle and the replacement process was easier than expected. The printer is easy to set up using the app or manual, but don't try to install based on the manual and then use the app or the process will get stuck. Ink bottle design is practical and very easy to refill. Colours are vibrant and detail comes out well. The boardgame manual I printed has a complex background with text on top, the contrast is clear and the text is crisp. The app has a cool craft feature, I used it to make the valentine card and kids colouring picture, it is very fun and easy to use. The printer is not cheap, but it will save you money in the long run with refillable ink and the quality makes it well worth the price. Overall I think this printer would be great for families and hobbyists. One thing to keep in mind is that you will need to print every month to keep the ink from drying out, but with the quality of the printer there should always be something cool to print.

The initial set up of the printer was very quick and trouble-free with great step-by-step instructions. It was quick and easy to fill the ink compartments and the mess-free tank refilling system was very good. HP says the printer comes with roughly two years’ worth of ink so no need to worry about that for a while, which is great. What I loved was the super easy app setup, it was straightforward to set up the printer to our Wi-Fi network using the App. Using the App to connect all the household devices, (computer, mobiles, and tablets) was seamless. The printer comes with a range of good functions that you would get with a larger printer. I loved the privacy pickup which allows printing to be delayed till I am there to pick it up. Another great feature was to be able to print double sided I tested the standard functions, colour printing, and copying which produced high quality documents. I have not yet scanned a document yet. Printing photos straight from my mobile phone using the App was so easy. My school/ college going kids find it convenient to print their study material and activities with a click from their devices and have not heard any complaints from them like I would with my previous printer. If you are looking for a great family printer for your home or small office that is low-cost and high-volume printing you can’t go wrong with HP Smart Tank 7005 All-in-One Printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by justcoastin from A good home-office printer I have owned HP printers before and never had any problems with them, so I was fairly confident this would be a good machine. I was impressed by the size of the ink bottles that came with the printer (70ml). You can see a comparison beside a mouse in the attached photo (mouse not included with the printer, of course). I was also impressed with the amount of paper the tray holds - nearly half a ream. Connecting the printer to my network on the iPhone app was really easy but not quite so straightforward on my Mac. Possibly more of an OS issue than HP's. My Mac found the printer via Bonjour straight away, but, at first, it wouldn't show up in the print selection list. Not sure if it was installing the HP app that fixed the problem, but it showed up next time I tried to print. I had a bit of trouble setting up the printer, my fault, I didn't notice that the black ink bottle was hidden under some packaging, but it did mean that I got to experience HP's customer care, which was absolutely excellent. The (native English speaking) support agent walked me through the whole setup process and even called back two days later to check that everything was ok. Setting up the HP app on my Mac was a bit of a mission. Got there eventually, but it took four attempts and about 1/2 an hour. If you're not using the scanning feature of the printer much, you can skip the app setup on your laptop/phone and just use your OS's print function. The print quality is great. The printer makes the usual noises when you send it a document and then prints at a reasonably fast pace. All in all, it is a good solid machine. I was unable to subtract just half a star for the setup issues, but the excellent customer support made up for it anyway, so 5 stars. Oh, and don't worry if it feels like you're going to break the lid when you open it to put in the ink. It's really stiff but will open without breaking. It gets easier after a few openings.

If you cancel the subscription you are UNABLE to print. Which means if you only use it every now and then and choose to not use the subscription, you are UNABLE to use the printer at all. There is NO manual option. They DO NOT tell you this when you purchase the printer. If there are any issue with your account you will NOT be able to print EVEN if the printer is in good working condition and has plenty of ink. I would have NOT purchase this printer if I had of known that the subscription does not allow for an opt out service. HP Support - very difficult to get onto the support team and have found them to be unhelpful. I suggest HP retrain their support staff and to test the market for a product that consumers actually want rather than creating products that do not satisfy the customer

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mt07 from Excellent value for money This is a very functional printer providing excellent value for money. I was absolutely shocked by the amount of ink included in the box. Setting up was relatively seamless. The manual instructions were a bit overwhelming but you can install the app which will guide you instead, which is what I did. The installation with the app was super easy and it showed everything step by step with visuals. Although the app had some connectivity issues at the start. Something to keep in mind is that the printer doesn’t come with any cables out of the box. So everything will be via wifi only. In terms setting up the ink, you need to manually fill in the canisters yourself. It comes with 4 large bottles with tons of ink. I was scared it would go everywhere when filling but it didn’t. It was super easy and a very clean process. One tip I would have is to hold the ink complete straight up when filling as it does it much quicker. In terms of the printer itself, it’s great. The print quality is really good even at the lowest quality option. It’s relativity quiet to operate too. The scan function is very excellent. Super fast with no loss in quality. I also love that it has an enclosed paper tray. Looks more cleaner. The functionality of the app is great too. You can scan to your phone/tablet from the app. You can print from the app. You don’t even have to be at home. You can print something when you’re on the go and have it ready to collect when you get home. It is also super easy to set up the app on numerous devices, and I’ve been able to do it for others in the house very quickly. In terms of functionality when you’re at the printer, it only has a few buttons and a tiny screen. The lack of a full size touch screen is a bit annoying and you need to rely on the app a lot more. Nonetheless it has buttons for most things you’ll need like photocopying both in black and white, and in colour. Also has a ID scan button so you can scan both sides onto one paper. If you want to change any settings however, or do things like low or high quality photocopying you’ll need to do it from the app or your computer. Overall though this is an excellent printer. While the lack of a screen is a bit annoying, the other positives far out way it. Heaps of ink that can last up to 2 years (incredible!), great quality print, good print speed, quiet and smooth operation, and stylish design too. It provides great value for money, especially for people that print a lot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by DillonQ from Great quality printer for today's market I have had experience with most printer types in my time working with technology, and so far my experience with the HP Smart Tank 7005 has been on par if not better than the rest. Everything required for setup is well and truly included in the box apart from a USB cable (yes not necessarily needed these days and you could reuse one from your old printer, and has been the norm for most manufacturers for a while, but would cost HP all of $2 per cable for our older generations) but otherwise packaged quite well and very neatly. I was very surprised at the size and volume of the ink bottles, these easily filled the ink tanks to the brim with no spillage! The printer also has a QR code/link under the scanner door which will take you to instructions on how to move the printer to prevent ink spillage which I believe is an awesome idea (no need to rummage through your "manual" draw to find the instruction guide or fumble through the app/manually search online for the instructions). Setup was super simple through the HP smart app, connecting to my mostly unstable WiFi within seconds, and providing easy to follow/greatly illustrated steps along the way which auto-completed without further interventions. For those who may be setting up the printer first before completing setup in the HP smart app (those who are most likely direct connecting to a PC), there are also very clear, easy to follow steps in the user guide which I believe is yet another great idea. Once setup was complete, I found the HP smart app to provide a lot of helpful print/scan/copy features and settings on the main screen, but otherwise I would have liked to see a bigger control panel/screen to access these, but this is not too problematic. Printing a document seems faster than most wireless Laser MFC's I have ever used and quality seemed as good if not better. The HP smart app also has a "Printables" feature/area where you can download templates for things like calendars, adults and kids colouring in, budgets, and much more, which is another great touch. My only really disappointment in this printer is it not having a auto feeder for scanning/copying, most ink tank printers on the market, some of which are less expensive to buy have this feature, and it would make scanning single or even double sided documents easier, but otherwise there are other ways around this. All in all, a great quality printer for today's market!

The unit comes in a box just a little bigger than itself. The printer is wrapped in a plastic packaging with a handle on the top, making removing from the box extremely easy, just lay the box flat and pull it out. There is another small box underneath which contains the power cable, 4x ink bottles and 2x print heads. Setting up the printer is very easy, simply plug in the power cable and turn on the unit. The entire setup is done via the HP Smart app on either Android or iOS. The app will automatically discover the printer and provide step by step instruction with animation to guide the user through the process. The ink loading process is very simple thanks to the non-spill design, the print heads simply click into place, making the entire setup process a breeze. The printer comes in an elegant two-tone design, with the body in white and top & bottom in dark grey. It’s a boxy unit with nothing protruding on either side, making it a good fit anywhere. My son is very intrigued by the printer and seeing pages coming out that I send straight to the printer from my phone over Wi-Fi is like magic to him. The HP Smart app also has a section where there are all sorts of activity templates for children, making the printer fun for the whole family. The print quality is excellent in both colour and black & white, the ink on the page dries as it comes out so there is no chance of smudging like other inkjet printer. Auto duplex printing is a very convenient feature offered by this printer to save paper. The print speed is reasonably quick for most home and small business use. The scan feature comes very handy to digitise documents, it can scan directly to my phone which is a plus. The ink that came with the printer claims to be able to print over 6000 pages compares to cartridges which only has capacity for few hundred pages. This is a big plus for a small home business as there is considerable ongoing savings to be had. I have yet to verify the 6000 pages claim but given the few hundred pages I’ve printed so far with hardly any drop in the ink level I’d say it’s very achievable. Overall I’d highly recommend this printer. It’s compact size, clean design, easy to setup, good print quality and high page output ticks many boxes for most Home and Small Business users.
