Home photo printing studio

Introduction

Creating a dedicated space in your home for photo printing is easy and worthwhile. You're more likely to print pictures right away rather than letting pictures pile up on your memory card. We have practical set-up tips, inspiring ideas, and HP Photosmart printer recommendations to help you create a productive and inspiring space.

Why dedicate a space for photo printing?

Home photo printing studio
Printing photos is more convenient–and more fun–when you have a dedicated space.
Having a dedicated place in your home to print photos makes printing and sharing pictures easier! Here are just a few benefits:

  • Saves time. If you have all your supplies in your dedicated space, you won't be searching for the right photo paper or ink. It's all within arms' reach.
  • Inspires you to print more often. May also inspire creativity in other areas of life.
  • You'll share more. (Friends and family may even reciprocate by sharing more pictures with you!)

Create a space that works

You could create a home photo printing station in a nook in your kitchen.
Creating a productive space is all about tailoring it to your needs. But there are some basic elements you should consider:

  • Dedicated area. This doesn't have to be near your computer since many HP printers are wireless or can print without a PC.
  • Lighting that allows you to see what you're doing.
  • Proper equipment and accessories. (A computer, scanner, battery for mobile printer, external hard drive for storing pictures, etc.).
  • Proper supplies at hand (photo papers, ink, stamps, photo mailers, etc.).
  • Comfort for printing and working (a desk or table with space, an ergonomic chair, etc.).

Get organized

Set up a system for sharing pictures.
An efficient setup is all about access and speed–quick in, quick out.

  • Keep your photo space separate—don't use it as a dumping ground for everything from junk mail to office papers to homework. Set up a clear system to ensure that every paper has its place.
  • Zone your photography work space with separate places for your printing supplies, printed pictures, discs, and accessories like memory cards and cords.
