Description

Raised, bubbled areas on coated media. One or more blisters may be present.

Most likely causes

  • Blistering can occur on coated media in high humidity environments, especially when printing in duplex mode.
  • The paper and coating pull apart when the paper is heated during fusing. This is caused by the moisture in the paper.

Troubleshooting and suggestions

  1. Try a fresh, unopened ream of media which has not acclimated to the environment. If the blistering still occurs, go to the next step.
  2. Try a different media. If the blistering still occurs, go to the next step.
  3. In the Print Quality -- Optimize menu, set Environment to Low Temp. Show me how.
  4. Try the different media again. If the blistering still occurs, try an uncoated media.
  5. Look at the uncoated media you just printed. If the issue is not resolved, Contact HP.
