Home patient monitoring

HP scientists have developed a suite of Remote Patient Monitoring technologies directed to remote management of care for persons afflicted with chronic diseases such as atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure (CHF) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). These technologies span the range from physiological measurement, including novel ECG techniques, through data federation, securitization, analysis, and presentation. Specifically, these technologies have been targeted at cardiac patients who require cost-effective, outcome-optimal monitoring of their condition in extra-clinical settings thereby enabling these patients the freedom and flexibility of living at home with no increased risk of poor, or tragic, outcomes.

The portfolio includes hardware and software spanning the value chain from the patient’s body to the remote diagnostician’s monitor, and elements in-between. It includes novel three-lead wearable, disposable EKG “patches,” signal processing These technologies take the management of physiological monitoring and telemetry to a new level. Also, HP scientists have developed microassay platforms targeted for use at the point of remote care for use in cases where remote care means having near real-time knowledge of one or more biochemical markers. Hardware, software and consumables constitute the full solution.
