The average American spends roughly a third of their waking hours at work during their career.[1] So it’s no surprise that many of our office devices function as much more than just productivity tools. They’re part of our professional identities. And just as we often have both professional and personal personas, our devices can do double duty in after-work activities.
Far from being a distraction, the dual-purpose device can actually be a net positive for your work. People who are more expressive at work actually have greater working memory performance than persons low in expressivity, allowing them to focus their attention and resist distraction.[2] So the next time you’re in the market for a new device, consider some of the playful, and productive, options below.
For Collaborators / Cinephiles
