  1. Print a copy of this Web page and walk over to the printer you are troubleshooting.
  2. Enter DIAGNOSTIC MODE.
    1. Press Menus to enter the MENUS on the control panel of the printer.
    2. Scroll to and touch DIAGNOSTICS.
    3. Scroll to and touch DISABLE CARTRIDGE CHECK.
  1. Open the printer and swap the cyan cartridge with the magenta cartridge.

    (CAUTION! Do not place the cartridges on the transfer belt.)

  2. Close the printer.
  3. Print another set of PQ troubleshooting pages. Show me how.
  4. Look at the lower right corner of the test pages number 1 and 2.
    Confirm that the test page number 2 is now cyan and the test page number 1 is now magenta.
    If this is not true, then you may have swapped the wrong cartridges.
  5. As illustrated below if the background color of the test page number 2 is not cyan, replace the cyan cartridge with a new cyan cartridge.

                    

    Otherwise, contact HP.

  6. Return the cyan cartridge to the cyan cartridge slot and the magenta cartridge to the magenta cartridge slot.

  7. To exit this diagnostic test, press and then select EXIT DIAGNOSTICS.
    (CAUTION! Failure to exit Diagnostic mode will cause paper jams and other problems when using the printer.)
