Rated 5 out of 5 by OMEN owner from So far, so good. Very impressed all around. So far so good. Excellent experience with the purchase on the HP.com store. The price and discounts were great. Ease of building the laptop, and ease of navigating the site were great. Laptop arrived safely and quickly. Purchased software was loaded and ready to go. Haven't done a lot of gaming yet, but will. I haven't really test the battery yet for gaming. But with regular tasks the battery has been sufficient, but not too quick to run down. Charging up is very quick. Display (QHD) is the best I have had in a laptop. Communications from HP, from build and purchase to delivery, were right on the mark. Quick ship from overseas. Very happy with purchase at this point. Also purchased extended plan with accidental coverage. I feel that was a no brainer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from Keyboard Layout I like everything about my new Omen except that the keyboard doesn't have a separate numeric keypad. When I was researching and specifying this computer I never checked out the keyboard layout of the Omen. I have not seen a keyboard without a numeric keypad for at least 15 years! A near equivalent Envy computer would have been a better choice for me except the lead time was 4-5 weeks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Death Engineering from Third Omen and it's the best yet Custom order came very quickly and could follow the build process. Fun! Deck is amazingly capable and the Omen Gaming Hub was surprising useful. Highly recommend this against other decks with better specs at the same price. Case is SOLID and the cooling is having no issues keeping up with the pixel pumping demands. Online manuals and service guides show the effort HP is making to keep these machines on the top shelf. Well done HP on my third Omen!

Rated 3 out of 5 by Anonymous from Could be better. I bought this 17t-ck100 about a month ago expecting something better than what I actually got. First the good. Its a solid machine and looks pretty when all lit up. Runs well though I haven't really pushed it yet. Boots quick, you're logged in after about 10 seconds but that'll probably change with time. Keyboard feel is okay but a bit springy. Definitely go for the individual color keys instead of the 4-zone. But the bad... as with most pre-built computers, this one came with its fair share of bloatware. Some much harder to remove than it really should be, like impossible really without registry changes which is always a bit risky. The power supply is kind of a joke. This thing could power the space station, is half again the size of the laptop and weighs no joke 4-5lbs. This is supposed to be a portable solution (laptop!) but the power supply situation, in addition to the 5+lbs the computer already weighs, put a damper on those plans real quick. No alternative power supplies HP, c'mon. It's a bit hard to remove the bottom the first time, so be prepared for some patience if you plan to upgrade at any point. Not a huge fan of the P1-6 buttons on the left but no choice for the desired 17 inches. Haven't used them in practice, but when typing normally I find myself in CAPS more than I like because my left hand placement is a bit off. The monitor has kind of freaked out on me a few times, where the refresh rate is slow and a kind of almost interlacing has occurred when I move the mouse (attached). A reboot fixes the issue and I haven't been able reproduce the issue consistently so I'll be keeping an eye on that. Overall, not getting the warm and fuzzies but it does deliver on performance. Sad it couldn't have been customized and shipped from the US. Also, the 3-year care plan registration didn't go down like it was supposed to. Be aggressive to get that registered.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lilmissangel from Good gaming laptop I love this gaming laptop! It’s so sleek and pretty. You can customize the keyboard lights to your liking which I really enjoy. It runs my games at the highest settings for the most part. I’ve had a few issues with crashing games but nothing major. It stays pretty cool after hours of gaming. Overall a good gaming pc for anyone looking!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Damian2 from Not playing games and constant crashing Since I've recieved the laptop i have not been able to run any games whatsoever and have had issues with crashing and rebooting. I've tried to go through the support chain multiple times and none of the fixes they have recommended me have fixed my problems. I will now be shipping it to them as they believe it might be a hardware issue. Hopefully when i get it back i recieve the product that i expected. Besides that it looks and behaves (mostly) like a great laptop i just wish it did what it advertises.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dspr from New machine to replace one 8 yr old. It looks like a nice machine. It was delivered 6 days ago. Easy start up. Still learning the new operating system but no issues. Didn’t buy it for gaming but wanted something that would handle home video and photos - but haven’t got that far yet. Can probably give a better review in 6 months.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Anonymous from Huge step backwards Unfortunately this laptop is what will make me leave HP for MSI. I completely disassembled it and am not impressed. I paid $1,869.99. Speakers are far too quiet, cheaped out for smaller form factor. Only half of trackpad works, replaced trackpad and got the same issue signifying a BOIS bug. Pressure marks on the sides of the screen where the LCD connects to the laptop bezel. The power supply is comically large. After 4 months of use, already experiencing dead spots on the power cable. Speakers clip when unplugged from power. But I could forgive all of that, all of it, if they hadn't put a mounting screw UNDER THE HEATSINK. In order to remove the motherboard from the casing you have to completely separate the heatsink from the motherboard. Because of this design flaw the laptop came to me brand new, with a bend in the heatsink. Which I'm guessing is from a technician who forgot to put in that screw and didn't want to break the fresh thermal paste so they manually bent the heatsink to get to the screw. Lastly, parts for this laptop are very difficult to find and are expensive since the laptop is new, keep that in mind if you're into repairability.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Brittney K from Lemon or lower quality? This laptop has been nothing but problems since it got here. My old Omen 17 model that's atleast probably 3 years old runs far better and has always been wonderful, this one has been a problem everyday on use. And has all but one of the top level upgrades. Dreading getting tech support for this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jd Ozone from Omen Ho 17t-ck100 is a great laptop at a great deal. I am glad I bought it… I love the Oman 17t-ci100. I have been using Mac but my CNC machine needs windows so I made the switch. I love it I got the equivalent of $6000 MacBook for $1500. 32meg ram, 12th gen i712-800 Intel, 1tb ssd, 17.3” screen and nvideo 3060 w 6meg ram. It not only runs my cnc but I can simultaneously run lightburn and my laser cnc. I’ve also downloaded some games off my Xbox account. It runs awesome and graphics rock. Glad I bought this…

Rated 4 out of 5 by Philly J from Very Fast, Well Built, a little heavy though. Very fast laptop and very solidly built, but it is very heavy, loud when the powerful fans are running and does not have a keypad on the right side of the keyboard which may not be a factor for some people. The edges are a little pointy and uncomfortable on my wrist, but I also use it on a raised up table top. Any other issues I have are with Microsoft and/or MS Office. Overall, great laptopl if you need power and speed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Robert0u812 from Nice balance of gaming and work capabilities I got this 17" Omen to replace a 15" Pavilion I have had for 5 years. The difference in speed is amazing. I use it for gaming as well as cad drafting. The only thing I missed when I ordered this was the lack of a number pad. I didn't realize it didn't have one until it was too late.

Rated 1 out of 5 by yettibetty from I Regret My Omen Laptop Purchase. I got my Omen HP as a grad gift in 2021. I did a lot of research on a lot of different computers but clearly I didn't do enough. I won't complain about the customer service when it ever came to repairs or any questions I had - they handled the situation perfectly and were extremely polite through and through. However, I shouldn't know customer service as much as I do now. This computer has been a nightmare since I purchased it. You think of an issue, and I'm sure it's had it. Overheating. Blue screening. Bios repairs. Battery draining at an alarming rate. Needing to be plugged in to function. Needing to completely wipe it to reinstall Windows. It just goes on and on - and even after all the repairs and getting an exchanged unit I'm running into the same problems. I'm sorry, but I would tell anyone looking for a gaming laptop to stay CLEAR of Omen devices. They're not worth the upset and I can almost guarantee that the belief that you will get at least five years out of it won't hold up. You'd be lucky to get two and for the price that they're asking it's a no-go. There isn't much of a point of excellent service when it comes to repairs if multiple repairs are necessary to begin with and it comes back with the same exact issues.

All top quality components driven by Intel’s i7-12800hx. Don’t know why HP doesn’t offer the 2nd drive option because it was easy to install. Windows 11 takes patience but any issues have been overcome. Added Intel’s driver support for updating the drivers and everything is solid.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jenny P. from Great for game dev. Powerful little (actually really big) laptop. I generally use it for game development and gaming. It runs nearly every game I've played perfectly. My only concern is the short battery life and huge brick of a power supply, but that is to be expected with most heavy performance laptops.

Rated 5 out of 5 by The Crow from Very pleased with our 12900HX 3080 Ti beast I should have gone with the per-key lighted keyboard, even though the 4-zone is cool. But I am very impressed with the i9-12900HX 16-core with 3080 Ti that I got for darn near a $1,000 discount on Cyber Monday. I can only assume the 13900HX and 4090 is going to require a cosigner, gonna be so expensive. And that laptop might melt with a 200W GPU. No thanks. This was the perfect buy at the right time. Thanks, HP.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Tom Dick Harry from NO 10-Key pad It looked at first glance it had a 10-keypad but it didn't. Probably due to the arrangement of the function keys over on the right so i had to purchase a plug-in pad for it. Other than that everything else was great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from Fantastic value for money. Fantastic value for money. The only reason I am not giving a full 5 stars is that the body is made out of cheap plastic. Not for the road warrior, but a great desktop replacement. I don't know why HP does not offer it in a dual HDD/AMD CPU configuration. I do bioinformatics and I could certainly use all the storage. Also, a Linux-only offering would be great for professional users (as opposed to gamers); we pay for Windows and then spend time erasing it to reclaim the disk space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by IndianaJones812 from Solid laptop. Laptop is fast, screen is bright enough being only 300 nits. Definitely not a laptop you can put on your lap, but I don’t consider that a negative given the hardware this thing has. It does put out some heat but given the GPU you shouldn’t be surprised. People seem to complain about anything with these higher end laptops. Overall I’m very happy I went with this laptop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by IrishJoe from Where is my numeric keypad? Super-fast machine with a terrific display. This replaces my 3 year old HP Omen 17 which has an i7-9750H (still in service, and still like-new). This is easily 2-3X faster in video transcoding. Had I paid more attention when ordering, I would have noticed that HP removed the numeric keypad! Why Oh Why Oh Why? It's not like there isn't room on a full sized 17.3 inch machine. I knocked off 1 star for this cheezy move.

Rated 5 out of 5 by C Kantack from HP OMEN 17 Laptop PC Excellent build quality. Nice looking keyboard. Love the multicolored LED options for the keyboard. HP provides some nice add-on utilities that will especially appeal to gamers. Power brick is quite large but necessary for the wattage required (330 watts). If not gaming, power demands are much more modest and system is very silent.

How do you play games that use the 10 key number pad?

Asked by: Orton
Thank you for your question! The best options would be an external USB number pad or to configure your keyboard so the game in question doesn't use the number pad and uses keys on the keyboard you are comfortable with.

If I get one built with the i7 12800hx, 3080ti, and 32gb of ram, will the provided 330w power supply be enough if each component is drawing its max? I've done some research and it seems not. Does HP have a larger power supply available if not?

Asked by: Jeromy O
Hello Jeromy and thanks for your question! As you are configuring the PC if the PC is going to be too much for the standard power supply then another option will be offered. That being said, the 330W should be sufficient for any configuration possible on this laptop.

my wife and I travel frequently by airplane to Cabo - that's a 2.5 hr. flight. I would like to find a laptop that has a dvd drive and ports for two head phones so we can watch movies in flight. We have hundreds of dvds.

Asked by: dtom1950
For personalized assistance in locating a laptop with those specifications, it is recommended to open a chat with an HP Live Expert. You can open a chat by clicking the chat icon on the bottom right corner of this product page. The HP Live Expert can assist with choosing the perfect solution for your request and needs. Typically laptops will not have dual headphone output jacks. There are many adapters that can perform that function for you and are compatible with any headphone jack. Another option for the DVD drive is using an external USB drive. As consumer requests have shifted to lighter laptops with extended battery life, and most media is now digital, very few laptops come with DVD players built-in.
