Described as a hub. I expected it to serve as such, and be able to connect additional external devices such as DVD drive, External storage drives, etc. However, the instructions show the need for external power, not only connection to the PC or laptop.

Will not work as a third display extender as HP claims.
HP sold this to me to utilize three displays on my HP AIO. I stated that I had already and extender but it doesn’t work. They stated this would. Well it does not it’s just an extender with extra ports besides HDMI this item is useless. But they will be sure to charge you for technical support. Waste of time.

A hub like this is essential if you're like me and your work/travel involves delivering training or doing presentations. The extra ports and VGA socket can really get you out of trouble depending on which IT systems you find yourself connecting to. It's small, weighs next to nothing but is very handy

Strictly for travel use
I don't use this other than when traveling. Many of the newer or updated hotels do have charging ports, USB, usbc ports but when I go away with my family and we are all looking to charge our electronics, this is the perfect travel companion. During the day we can charge a few items and then switch it our at night. Simple to use. Haven't needed the monitor connection and wish it had an USB instead, I'll probably look at the other travel options because I'm sure theres one with different options for our needs. Price was what we expected.

I purchased the hub to connect a 27 in monitor to my hp laptop. The hp rep on the phone said it would work. It did not work, the monitor was not recognized so the had to plug it to my laptop directly.

Need Extra USB-C Adaptor to be able to charge
Product Features says "LIGHTEN YOUR LOAD WITH ONE MULTI-PURPOSE HUB
Carry one hub for all your devices and get pass-through connectivity and scalable power delivery to your HP laptop through its 45W, 65W or 90W adapter. Leave your adapter behind and power the hub from your device’s USB-C™ port.[3]" and in the fine print says " Adaptor not included" so basically you will buy this and an additional adaptor dont know from where and for how much. Its very easy to miss and believe this is right product which it is not, Design is bad which many other reviews mentioned. And top of all had to call explain multiple times why i need to return and explain the person "Why did you not read full Description" which is conveniently hidden in fine print by HP so much to say "Hassle Free Returns" . All in all they make you feel stupid just because you are asking for return.

Can't use hdmi and vga at same time
I needed this to connect 3 monitors and a USB mouse. This had the perfect number of ports. However, the HDMI and VGA ports are too close together, so cant use both at same time, which means it wont work for my purpose. Would be fine if you only need one of those.

The product came with a very good packing and was in working condition.But the drawback is its design.It has vga and hdmi slot side by side very close to each other that we cannot have both vga and hdmi plugged in simultaneously.

Waste of Money
I bought this to replace a dock (because the new power cord require a Jack that is 1/16” longer). I needed USB port and vga for 2nd screen. Hub doesn’t let my computer detect the screen. The USB port doesn’t get enough power for phone and tablet, so they both keep buzzing and won’t charge. Useless.

PERFECT - ADD THIS POWER CORD
The separate power cord allows the Travel Hub to go "in line" so you only use one port (the computers USB-C). There are two adapter cords -- one is $65 the other is $109.
-- For the 11" Spectre x360 (Product #X7W50AA#ABA) $65....
---or for the 13" Spectre laptop, get the HP 90W USB-C Power Adapter #2LN85AA#ABA
-- Both adapters end with a USB-C to go into the computer, charge it, and power the USB ports. The difference is ("the 15" is power hungry and ships with a 135w AC adapter and because of this I do not think the 65w would be sufficient to keep the battery maintained while in use especially if you have USB ports in use" says HP)
Both adapters plug into the Travel Hub (The small -looking USB-C at one end) and in turn the Travel Hub's cable plugs into the Spectre's USB-C.
** If you don't power the Travel Hub, it still works great as a hub.**
Either way Gives the 2 USB ports, HDMI To add video for editing, and the extra monitor port (I have not used that). The separate Power Adapter keeps the ports needed for all that to one -- the USBc.

HDMI and VGA connections do not work
I purchased this to connect displays and other devices to my HP laptop. After finding that HDMI and VGA connections do not work, I called customer service. I was shipped a replacement, but testing it on arrival gave the same results. I could put an adapter from HDMI to USB on my monitor to make it work, but I wanted to leave the USB ports open for other devices if needed.
Very disappointing.

Didn't work
I used tech support to verify my computer would work with this and they said yes. Purchased it and when it arrived it would not work. Called tech support again and this one said it wasn't compatible with my computer. The only good thing was since I used tech support, they refunded my money. Still can't get my two monitors hooked up

ok for what it is -- you lose your USB-C port
There's a USB-C port on this; however, it's ONLY for power input (for who-knows-what power supply, since it's not documented). I was looking for it to pass-through to anything connected to the USB-C port (even with limited functionality). To plug this in is to lose a USB-C port on your computer (which, sadly, is the only USB-C port on my just-released model). This could be a WHOLE lot better documented on the brief and full specs.

We recommend trying a Universal USB docking station like the Kensington USB 3.0 Docking Station with Dual DVI/HDMI/VGA Video sd3500v. Hi! I have HP ProBook 450 G9 with 45W adapter to power it. Can I use the same adapter with the hub to power the laptop? And if I buy 90W adapter will the hub automatically adjust the output to 45W to load the laptop?
The HP USB-C Travel Hub G2 will work fine with your existing 45W adapter that came with your HP ProBook 450 G9. If you happen to buy a 90W adapter, the maximum wattage that will reach the laptop is 65W.
