Rated 2 out of 5 by Cristian C. from Not the right slot, not the right card! One star as it did not work for me and I will have to return it. Another star because the return process was straight forward. It did not work for me as it has this requirement that was not clear at purchase that it has to be installed in Slot 4 on Z4 G4 machine. I do not have access to slot 4, as I have two large GPUs installed. Slot 5, only one remaining, even though fit the card, refused to be a solution. So do not buy this unless you can accommodate the card in the required slot. Only one will work on either of the G4 workstations.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Anonymous from Unsuccessful Bought these for a project at my job. We have a team of video engineers that are top notch. They were unable to get these card to work, without intermittent failures. We worked with HP Support to trouble shoot the problem and after many hours we eventually gave up. At the end of it all, we had to change workflow to avoid using Thunderbolt storage devices. This caused pain to our client and embarrassment for my colleagues and I. These card will go on a shelf and never be used again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Oldnuc from Easy Install Very easy to install. Follow the instructions - Check that you have the newest BIOS F/W download and install if not. This is found at HP Drivers under your PC Serial number. Download the Thunderbolt driver also. Turn off the PC. Unplug the power cord, Then, plug in the Circuit board and connect the Thunderbolt cable. You can then install the TB driver.

But this card was installed on a HP Z4-G4 Workstation without any issues. The key is to make sure you follow the included installation instructions. It must be installed on a specific slot and it varies depending on the Z model you have. I have connected an LG 34UM88-P display with a Promise Pegasus3 R4 Raid5 storage system for video editing with Adobe Premiere. Workstation is extremely stable.

No problems with compatibility for the Z8 G4 - Only problems were no information about you need to check the BIOS settings. Fantastic performance as I'm only using it for TB3 connections not having a monitor with USB-C Recommended *** anyone wanting to add thunderbolt 3 to their HP workstation.
