I don't personally use it for gaming, but the specs met what I needed. Love the backlit keyboard and the numeric keypad. I have not noticed it getting too warm, though I do keep it mostly on a desk. My only complaint is the Windows 11 UI interface. When right clicking for menu options, it is very watered down, making experienced Windows users search harder for the setting or control they are looking for.

Boots instantly as expected as well. The fans can be a bit loud for short periods of time but only when loading a game and typically not during a game. The fans do the job and keep it cool though. So far so good.

The actual laptop is very nicely outfitted for an entry level gaming laptop, but don't expect a quick shipment. The shipment from the China manufacturing took weeks and weeks to build and encountered significant delay with shipping.

I usually set the laptop upside down to keep it cool when not in use it has approx 3-4 hours time playing mmo gaming and connects well to mobile networks.

Outside of that it runs great.

The plus is that is does not contain a hard drive just internal memory, so can easily be expanded. My son has already added a 2 TB hard drive to improve gaming and clock speed. Great buy, much better than the basic HP desktop gaming PC he tried at first.

Makes crypto mining in the background while working impossible pretty much. Two things I don’t like so far is the mouse pad is constantly zooming in on the screen while working. I don’t like the constant pop ups from Microsoft advertising.

The main board needed to be replaced. We had not used it long enough to see if we liked it or not. I had to make 2 long calls to get a box sent to us to return it for repairs. Next time I will purchase a Dell. We have been greatly disappointed with this purchase.

I got the Ryzen 5 which is adequate for my uses, in hindsight I would have gone with the Ryzen 7 processor which is much better. It would have been better if the system could if the memory can be expanded to 32GB. The green backlight keyboard is irritating to the eyes at night. Consider the OMEN, which I believe provides the option for normal backlight keyboard.

These games always crashed on my other laptops. I don't play any RPG or First shooter games. I'm not sure how well they paly on this HP Pavilion. It is much faster than a regular laptop. I also like to use this for watching movies. The viewing quality is so much better. I bought the base model, only 256 gigabytes storage. I got an SD card of 1 Terabyte and solved that issue. I would like to upgrade the RAM and graphics card. Does HP sell these separate? (on thier website) I only trust these items if they're made by HP. I don't want to go on ebay or Amazon and get some generic graphics card.
