Rated 5 out of 5 by JT Sunnyvale from Outstanding Value This is like a macbook air but way better price. Love the way it ways around 2 pounds, making it very portable--which is the main reason I would want a laptop. Excellent screen and backlit keyboard. I love the font on the keys, headphone port, and hdmi 2.1 port. Design is modern and clean. Webcam is not the best, but it is sufficient, as are the speakers and microphone. I LOVE that this can charge with USB-C. Wish it came with a USB-C charger instead of the barrel plug, but it isn't expensive to get a USB-C cable and charger. I got the lowest spec options across the board on mine, and I still get excellent performance for basic usage, and can even do some light gaming. The only things I wish for on this laptop would be a SD card slot, and expandable memory slot. Make sure to select more RAM when you buy this if your usage is memory hungry, because you can't upgrade it later. The RAM is soldered in. Conclusion: For the price, this is an excellent value for most users. Only people with demanding use cases would need more than this (hardcore gaming, graphics rendering, photo/video editing, etc.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by RichHP4 from Very lightweight, solid unit, great value Very good laptop, great for the price. It's extremely light weight. Performance is peppy, I haven't pushed it hard, but runs standard tasks like web browsing, watching videos, and office products quickly. Build quality feels reliable, better than expected for the price. And I like that the usb-c port has power delivery so you can connect it to a docking station with PD and have one cable to the laptop which provides external video, audio, and charges the laptop.

Rated 1 out of 5 by MJR2000 from trackpad is garbage and ruins this laptop my daughters 8 year old mac book air has a nicer trackpad than this. The whole loose track pad makes noises as you run your finger over it. Terribly annoying. Only thing worst is the HP customer service department. Undertrained outsourced team overseas. I should have bought Dell. If you don't mind a machine built with poor tolerances its fine but if you expect something well constructed this isn't it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by HP customer135410 from Huge Mistake As soo as I received the laptop I noticed two issues: horizontal, flickering lines across the screen and wifi disconnects. I updated the drivers for everything (including the wifi card and GPU). Neither problem was fixed. I contacted tech support separately for both problems. The wifi seems to be fixed. The screen was not. I will definitely be returning the laptop once HP allows me (tech support has to try everything they can to fix the problem first). It also has poor battery life and the touchpad was mounted off center (big gaps to the right and bottom of the touchpad.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by AV_1 from Incredibly light, powerful and affordable Incredibly small and light, beautiful design, good performance and battery life, fantastic keyboard. Cons: limited wattage could be more flexible in the expense of more heat, QHD screen has slow response time and is quite ghosty while watching videos and playing.

Rated 2 out of 5 by j2222 from Good Value but two very annoying problems Generally I have found this a great value and there is lots to like about it - performance, display, keyboard, trackpad. But I have two issues that are so annoying they take my rating from a five to a three (and I have seen the same reports on the web from others so it is not unique to my machine). First, the wifi is awful (I have the standard Realtek chip). It takes forever to connect and the bandwidth is terrible (compared side by side to my old laptop on the same wifi). Second, several times a day the screen will go black for a second and then return.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Shaheen NP from App disconnection It is light weight and quick . The only major issue l have is it disconnects the website or app if it is not in use for half an hour or so . I am an NP and see patients via Doxy.me. If there is a break in between patients it shows it is active but patients who are connected do not appear on my screen, so l have to log off and log back in to see the patient . Like wise if I use otter.ai for notes, if it has been idle at loses its audio

Rated 1 out of 5 by Sandeep06 from Not satisfied at all , poor performance The performance is bad. Doesn't utilise the ram efficiently. Browser is the only thing I use yet feels slower than my 3 year old laptop with 8 gb ram. The audio and mic quality is really bad. I took an interview with this piece of crap and was a total mess.

Rated 3 out of 5 by RossPub from Squeezing the Port Sockets Overall the laptop is fine, but the sockets for USB and HDMI are so close that you can only plug in one of them at a time. Yet there was plenty of room to separate them a bit more. And an extra USB C port would be helpful. Another USB A would also be helpful.

Rated 2 out of 5 by DisappointedSteve486 from Very slow wi-fi capability; don't buy. Don't buy; wifi speed is ridiculously slow. After spending days doing everything instructed by HP as well as other dis-satisfied users, I still have a laptop that downloads at 5 Mbps even though all my other devices are running at 150+ Mbps at the exact same location. Very disappointed, and Googleing the issue shows this is not a new (nor resolved) problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Lissa S from This is the perfect laptop for on the go I Have used this laptop for about a month now and so far I am loving it, I went from a 15.6 inch to this one and I have to admit in the beginning it was hard to not miss the larger screen. But with that said everything you get instead makes it so worth it, the weight, battery life, and so on .I love the flexibility and all the different options that HP offered that allowed me to get the specs, that was important to me for a more than great price on sale. The backlit keyboard is great to work on and the mousepad is very responsive, I had not planned on watching a lot of video on this but the screen is so fabulous and the battery life so good that i now use this pc much like a tablet for when I'm in the car or traveling. If you need a great pc for travel, school, work, or even just entertainment, I don't think you can do much better than this pc especially for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kain Highwind from Excellent alternative to expensive ultrabooks Custom ordered from HP. Ceramic white, Ryzen 7 with 16 GB ram, 256 SSD, and the 2k screen upgrade. Shipped in a reasonable time and without issue. It was on sale when I ordered, although at the time of this review it does not appear to have a sale and the Ryzen 7 chip is not showing available with the 16GB ram option. Supply chain issues maybe. I was initially shopping Dell XPS 13 and HP Spectre. Admittedly those ultrabooks are better than this but spec'd with good internals and the OLED screen options they were priced close to $1,700. A tough pill to swallow considering the 65 inch LG OLED TV I recently purchased was $1,800. I get it but I don't get it.... Either way, this laptop feels and looks excellent. Quality construction is as good as my HP Envy 17 inch that is a few years old. Also, this thing is light. Very easy to carry and move without feeling cheap. A very rare combination of quality and light weight. I'll skip the performance review based on the specs I outlined above. This laptop performs very well and stays quiet. Overall, I guess I would say that this laptop makes you feel good while using it. An elusive quality that only few products in the vast sea of technology have managed to do. If you are shopping pricier ultrabook style laptops you need to give this thing a serious look. It's not always about having the money to spend but whether you want to or not. Do yourself a favor - save the $800 and custom order this in a high tier spec, you won't be sorry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MrVt from Could be perfect but HP handicapped it I own one with all component choices maxed out. Hi-res panel, 16gb ram, 1tb storage. I like the laptop for its lightweight design and keyboard layout. The hi-res had great color reproduction. The SSD storage is nothing exciting, just ok. I probably compared it to 3 Intel based laptops, and they were all suffering from overheating and throttling. This one is much better with continuos loads and the fan noise is barely noticable. Where HP seriously messed up is the battery size. The 43wh battery is less than many other laptops in this class. 54wh world be perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Prof Rage from Plastic shell but screen and its weight are 5/5 Excellent laptop. Super light, very good performance. Battery life is excellent given the weight and battery capacity (around 8-9 hours of light usage at 150 nits). Keyboard and trackpad are good given the price point. 16:10 HD screen is excellent. Performance on battery takes a hit, but this is sort of expected in exchange for good battery life. If you watched the reviews on YouTube, you'll hear that the chassis is magnesium alloy. There was a sku of the premium shell at one point, but they switched to recycled plastic. Definitely a bait and switch given the plastic sku popped up a couple months after the reviews were posted.

Opening and completely reinstalling the Realtek wifi module fixed my issues (network card not working properly). Rated 2 out of 5 by jdbj1977 from overall solid but several major flaws. I received this as a Christmas gift. I received the 5600u with 16 gb ram, white color, and backlit keyboard. I use it for basic things like web surfing/online shopping, email, light office usage, some light printing and playing some games on steam. I like the hardware but windows just stinks. I received a windows 11 laptop but is way too resource hungry. I am going to install linux on the machine. I have no idea why some of the software is included with the machine and some much better software is included. I wish that the battery plans were better in windows and that is where HP could step in. I do not like the options when the battery reaches critical level. I also do not like that there is no better option installed on the machine other than balanced. I wish the machine had some sort of ultra power saving mode to prolong the battery. I also do not like all the junk that HP installs on the laptop. If you take it off it tries to keep reinstalling the junk ware back on your machine. On the build aspects of the machine,it is well built and very light. The keyboard works well and the backlit works perfectly. I have used it some with windows and coming from 13 and 11 inch laptops for years with celeron and low end amd processors I am a bit surprised how well the laptop battery lasts. It is hard to compare since the ryzen 5 is so much better but I do get about five hours with a screen brightness of 20 percent and in battery saver mode. Along those lines, the screen on this laptop is much brighter and I find it irritating being so much brighter than my previous laptops. I guess that is due to the laptop being "better" than lower end models but that is something I am getting used to. I also do not mind that the case is plastic. I would rather pay less for plastic than a metal case. I also like that HP allows users to install linux easily. If i had not been able to install linux, I would have returned it. Just wish HP would make the drivers for linux to use with the wifi card and ryzen 5 processor/graphics(you have to change the kernel after installing all updates to get the graphics to work.just easier if hp would make a driver so it is not such a pain). I also do not mind the machine only having two usb 3.0 ports, easy and super cheap to buy a hub online. There are two things I wish HP would do in the future: bring back removable batteries in laptops and have some sort of built in camera cover(one that slides on and off the cam for added protection). Overall this is pretty solid laptop. I would have given it more stars but win 11 is horrendous. I do not know if it is Microsoft or HP but having windows 10 as an option would have made me give the laptop a higher rating. Also the repeated re installing of some apps when you uninstall them is annoying. But the design is solid and the hardware is very good for the price. I can see the camera slide blocker being a deal breaker but really that is the only flaw in my mind. So if you can either live with windows or you can switch to linux, i would recommend this laptop.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Unfortunately Frustrated from Great Laptop + Bad Wifi Card = Must Return; No buy Recent purchase for my wife as a work and leisure laptop. Everything ran smoothly until about 6 hours in when the Realtek Wi-Fi 6 (2x2) and Bluetooth® 5.2 combo chip disconnected her from the internet. Troubleshooted the issue: fixed. Problem? It KEEPS HAPPENING. Spent the extra 10$ on this chip and everything... No driver update has helped, and now it's a 50/50 when she brings the computer out of sleep mode if she has to reset the computer or not as the chip completely fails to be recognized by the system. Planning to return the device, but HP's online return platform is incredibly inaccessible--will have to call customer service to address the issue as the return system is an eternal loop of viewing order details with no return options. Very disappointed in an otherwise solid piece of technology. HP needs to avoid Realtek chipsets.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Too Far to Return from Think TWICE About Having Weak Unreliable WiFi. The Realtek WLAN ax2x2 WiFi receiver is abysmal. Constant drops with difficult reconnections, and it has less than 2/3 the range of my old Asus ZenBook, even after driver updates. This is where they saved cash, but you should not. Battery nearly peaks 8 hours with YouTube videos running constantly. Documentation or manuals, either printed or online, are limited to a single sheet, three step introduction to your power button. Be careful of the plastic flaps covering the USB ports as they will eventually snap off and leave it very exposed. But hey, it's small, light, somewhat inexpensive and customer service responded quickly and affirmatively when they badly misjudged shipping and I had to leave the country before delivery. (A friend forwarded it for me, though I'm on the fence about that favor now.)

Rated 3 out of 5 by Gemini Rabbit from A pretty good, sort of okay laptop Okay mid level laptop. It does not properly sleep -- I can hear the fans kicking on sporadically and the battery drain is apparent in the morning. Another issue is that the center of the keyboard is shifted to the left and is not centered with the screen or touchpad. I don't mind using it for short periods of time, but it's not really great for longer stretches of use because your hands, shoulders, and back are all thrown off by the bad positioning. This also creates plenty of opportunity for errant touchpad and interaction from the right palm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Xisnsnxls from Amazing laptop Just got mine. I love the 2560x1600 anti-glare screen (an upgrade from the 1920x1200). I ordered mine in white, and it looks great. Ryzen 5 is blazing fast. The laptop fan was on while downloading and updating windows 11, and the laptop generated a lot of heat, but after that, the fan hasn’t come on at all. I love the fingerprint reader and the instant on and resume. No boot time. Yay!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Public name from Think again View: The 400nits comes with aggressive backlight bleed. Sound: The fan noise is even more aggressive and often overpowers the speakers at mid volume. Feel: There is enough flex in the panels that it doesn't feel like high quality product but the overall weight is admirable. The keyboard is decent but I hate the lopsided layout Function: Windows 11 is no where near a finished product and it shows Overall: This device comes up wanting and I come away wishing I had not bought it. I have other HP devices (chromebooks) that I would recommend first

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jared334577 from Great laptop, but had to fix it myself. I love the laptop. Great keyboard, nice screen, responsive trackpad, and why I decided to buy it: the Ryzen CPU. Unfortunately, the laptop came with the network card installed incorrectly, which required me to open the laptop myself and reinstall it. I’m sure technically I could’ve sent it back to HP, but I had work to do and waiting for a repair was not an option for me. It worked fine afterward. It’s just annoying that if it had been a hardware problem, HP wouldn’t have honored my best warranty because I opened it. Please embrace right to repair!

Rated 5 out of 5 by The Real Chris from Outstanding I am very happy with this laptop. With its light weight and great overall performance, it is the perfect travel laptop. So far, this laptop has performed every task I've needed very well. Battery life is a little lower than some laptops, but it's still more than enough for my needs. I have no problem having a smaller battery if it means the laptop only weighs 2 pounds. I find it ridiculous carrying a heavy laptop around with a 20 hour battery life when you don't even need a fraction of that. For the price this laptop exceeds expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LorenFL from Good for use on a LAP Really worth 5-stars so far, I like it a lot. But, everything I read indicated it should have been "fanless", which is what I wanted... I almost pulled a star for that. It's not fanless, but it IS super quiet and stays cool for my purposes. It handles YouTube video streaming without getting hot and only the slightest fan speed. Screen resolution is amazing. The computer itself is feather-light. For a true lap-used laptop, it's perfect!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chris S from Top-Notch Laptop for an Amazing Price This is an absolutely great laptop for the money. I was able to kit it out with good specs (Ryzen 5, 16GB RAM, 256GB hard drive, and display upgrade) for under $900. It's an absolute steal at that price. The display is really clear, even outside, it starts up and runs everything quickly, the battery life is solid, and it's one of the lightest laptops you'll find. Oh, and it has a full-sized HDMI port, something you don't find all that often with the move to USB-C. My only very slight knock is that I got the white one and, let's be honest, it's plastic. It doesn't feel as "refined" as other aluminum-chassis laptops but it's also not a few hundred dollars more expensive as a result. Again, I'm really nit-picking here - overall, this is a highly recommended laptop for the price.

I just got this laptop. I started using it immediately and I feel like the screen has such bad quality. It’s so blurry. I have a computer from 2016 that has better resolution. Any one else experienced this?

Asked by: asnis
Try adjusting the display "Resolution". Native resolution of HP Aero 13.3" is 1920 x 1200, so if it is set to anything else (say 1920 x 1080) it will appear blurry. If the text is too small after fixing the resolution, search Windows 11 for "Make text size bigger".
