It starts up fast and once installed it is easy to operate. HP is known for it's fine line of products and product support. For it's relatively small size it has a lot of functionality.You will have to read the spec's for all of the details, but for my budget it very much meets my needs and have recommended it to my sons.

However more instructions could exist setting up the printer securely since it has its own web browser. Also I still haven't been able to connect my second computer to the printer. Last - the printer is creating tiny spots down the edge of the page, which is apparently caused by a spec on the drum. I haven't figured out exactly where it is.

Also, it really sucks that HP DEMANDS that you sign up for a HP cloud account that you don't need in order to use this, which is probably why it isn't working right. Really disappointing and ready to send this back. We just need a printer, not a cloud computing lesson. And just in case you're wondering what kind of doofus can't get this working, I have a BSEE from the University of Illinois with a computer minor and have built my own computers from scratch, so....

Rated 3 out of 5 by Michael O from Great Printer but... Hard to setup AirPrint without a hard wired connection. Also when you send a job to the printer when it’s in sleep mode, the printer does not automatically wake up. You have to manually do that every time to make sure it prints.

That is not the case now, printer still is not hooked up, have tp go to geek squad to help. This has me convinced I will NOT be using HP there ae other companies I WILL use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Anonymous from Performance Good, Diagnostic Tools Poor The printer prints well but like all HP printers I have owned connecting to a wireless network can be challenging but staying connected is daunting. I found over the 2.4 GHz connection it took a long time to print or the document would not print at all. Switching to the 5 GHz network the printing was much faster and way less connectivity problems. The software for scanning that I downloaded for the printer did not work well especially the scanner software. This was through HP's setup software. I downloaded HP Smart and that is the only way I can scan to my WIndows 10 PC. HP Print and Scan Doctor is hit and miss even connecting to the printer although I can print using WORD when the software says the printer is offline or cannot find it. I also get a false positive using this software. I find this software incredibly inept at solving any problem I experienced with the printer to date. I wish HP would take some time and resources to rewrite and evaluate their setup, troubleshooting and operational software. You need to have some knowledge how HP supports their products as there is inadequate instructions that come with the printer how to solve issues

They shipped this item immediately but said due to Covid the computer wouldn’t be shipped until 10-6. Then on 10-7 the sent an email saying due to Covid the computer won’t ship until 10-21. So nearly 4 weeks with useless item since they can’t keeps their word and build a computer in 4 weeks and ship when I see the same thing sitting in the shelf at my local store. Purchased because of holiday sale from their website.

So wish that I could have found it locally and gotten points at Best Buy or Office Max. But everywhere was out of stock and I needed it ASAP, so ship it from HP it was.

Rated 5 out of 5 by That old guy in the mask from Looooooooooong Overdue. This muti-trick monochome LaserJet replaced a 25-year-old LaserJet 4000 that WOULD. NOT. DIE. (That particular printer had replaced a 300ppi HP IIIP which was ALSO retired while still perfectly functional.) Finally we just had to weigh what a quality-of-life improvement a USB/network multitasker with wireless capability would be and took the plunge ... spending a fraction of what those earlier printers had cost. And of course it was a breeze to set up -- as it happens, I set most devices up online but, just to experiment, used the full CD procedure to set up on an older desktop. Interestingly, the apps installed were the ultimately same in function but slightly different in the two setups. But everything, and I cannot stress the importance of this enough, Just ... works. The print quality is beautiful, the duplex printing is fast and seamless and the copy quality is good enough to also retire a small C_n_n portable copier we had also relied on for years. Even the somewhat maligned scanner works well enough for forms and documents, and the interfaces, both the CD and online-installed versions, are really easy to work with. So I guess this is the trade-off I can live with -- yeah, it's the dystopian future already and I never got the jet-pack I was promised ... but laserprinters are SO much better and cheaper now. So that's something, right?

I needed it for my home office and I needed something quick that can get the job done. It prints, scans, faxes quickly. I set up the wifi bluetooth so I can print documents straight from my phone. I love that part.

Rated 2 out of 5 by 1965Nikki from confusing features Still haven't figured out how to scan multiple pages of a document. My old scanner gave me a choice of more pages this one has no such feature. Had I known it was this difficult I would have looked for another unit. Also can't find out how to keep the phone line plugged in without losing the same phone line for calling. My previous unit a 7600 had the phone line plugged in all the time and it would automatically let a fax go through without a problem. I still can't get the fax to work.

Hello. Thanks for your question. We recommend looking at the HP Laserjet Pro m479fdw printer, which can print, copy, and scan double-sided documents. This model prints in color. It can also fax. It does have wireless capabilities. And you can use the HP Smart app with this printer.

When I print, the whole page has vertical lines up most of the width of the page. I cleaned surfaces and there is not ink anywhere under the ink cartridge when I open it up or in the back area. Is this an easy repair? Or should I just buy a new one.
