I bought before the sale
The computer is just fine. The only disappointment is seeing it go on sale a few weeks after buying. It would be wonderful if there were a price guarantee like many stores such as Target has for 30 days after purchase. It would have saved me several hundred dollars.

Recent HP laptop purchase
HP Sales rep assured me that the model that I ordered would have a backlit keyboard. When it arrived it did not. The touchpad has changed so there is no "right click" key. You have to use the touch pad with two fingers to initiate the action which can be tricky in the dark. Someone else also remarked that with Windows 11, "hovering" over an icon or link results in an action too quickly. I agree, it makes the touchpad seem too sensitive and initiates actions when you don't want them. This is likely the last HP product that I will purchase since starting with an HP 35 in the early 70s.

Exactly What I Needed!
I wanted a specific set of features to replace my last laptop (also an HP), including a compact 14" screen, a backlit keyboard, touch screen, less than $500 and NOT a 2-in-1 (I didn't need that flexibility, plus the hinges are a weak point). I couldn't find that mix, along with an adequate hard-drive size anywhere, so I went back to the HP site and custom ordered exactly what I wanted. It arrived in less than 2 weeks loaded with Windows 11. Couldn't be happier. Time will tell as far as how well it holds up, but I'm very pleased so far.

Not a sleek design
Disappointed in look of the laptop, the shell is bumpy and looks very cheap/tactical. There also aren't any hard cases widely available to cover the outside. Other than looks, its a good laptop.

HP14, I guess I got what I paid for!
I had an HP 13.3" 2 in 1 and bought this one to replace it. The HP 14 feels a lot less sturdy and "plasticky". In addition, if the screen isn't at the correct angle, the resolution and picture are not very good.

A wonderful purchase
I'm currently a college student and I was looking for a laptop which a big enough screen to see better. This laptop arrives a little later than I expect because of low stock in equipments but once it arrived, I couldn't be more happy as this laptop is much lighter in weight as I expected and everything runs very smoothly! I'm thankful and obsessed.

I purchased a customized 14" hp laptop at a great price before all the Thanksgiving sales. Silver, i5; 512 GB SSD, 12 GB SDRAM. I wanted Windows 11 (I'm always hoping my laptop will last until the next upgrade, alas - it never seems to). I did not get a touch screen. I didn't realize that a lot of the new Windows 11 features involve a touch screen and have read that it is better for gaming which is not my interest. My son set it up and I had a few frustrating problems installing software and files that I'm used to using so we started over and the second time he loaded the software and accompanying files I was having trouble with - so now I can say that I like this new computer. I purchased the 3 year accidental damage for $99 since this is the reason I'm buying a new computer - I dropped the last one and cracked the screen :( I've been happy with my HP products in the past and expect to be happy with this purchase too.

This was not what I expected from HP. The case was made of cheap plastic and the keyboard has a weak touch to it. I expect it to break any day now. The mouse pad does not sit flush with the surface - it dips down on one side.

Not to previous HP standards
I have been a loyal HP customer for over 20 years and this latest purchase was a disappointment. Although the technology is great the components are frail and substandard. Keyboard is the biggest disappointment, feels like the keys will come off after months of use. USB ports are limited to 2 and with a laptop one would expect minimum of 3 for external peripherals. You should not expect to pay thousands for quality. I do like the additional Apps loaded and ready to install as well as weight snd battery life so far on one charge.

Invest a bit more and buy a different one!
I bought this for my 5th grader thinking it would need his basic need with school homework/projects in elementary school. I was ABSOLUTELY wrong. This is a horribly slow/inefficient machine. Every single click takes much time which could potentially kill you. I spent an entire morning trying to figure out why or what could have caused this and I failed. This is just what we got for this price. Plus, if you try to connect with the customer service for assistance - good luck! No human beings had ever picked up my phone calls yet since August!

Save your money.
This is a cheaply made piece of flimsy plastic. The mouse pad feels very fragile with a loud plastic-sounding clicking noise. I am trying to return it but HP is not allowing me to.

Very poor quality laptop
Laptop looks good with decent features and starts up pretty fast. However it gets heated up very soon like in 10 to 15 minutes for browsing. Charging adapter also becomes very hot while charging. So I use it less often and would not recommend this laptop due to heating issues. Very disappointed with quality.

painfully slow
My dad bought this laptop and was complaining that it did not work right. I went over to help him out it is so slow its unusable... have to click an icon repeatedly to open have to click repeatedly close. one the worse computers I have ever tried to use! told him to take and get a refund but he said he's had it a couple of weeks already. Why would HP make a computer that could not run the operating system?

Big Mistake
I purchased this laptop for class. I didn't use it until 2 months after I purchased it, which turned out to be the day I started my online class..... after I logged in my screen went blank. I immediately called HP support for help with my device. After the technician went through a number of steps with me to see if my ill-fated computer could come alive again, he finally came to the conclusion that I should return it to HP for repair. YES, "repair." Not exchange or refund as it's been 2mths since I've purchased this device so I was no longer qualify for a refund.... Instead of joining my first class and getting my first assignment done, I have to be writing this review. Thanks to HP I feel like a fish out of water.

Laptops have really evolved
I was looking for a laptop to replace my tablet. This 14 inch model will work perfectly, plus I am able to run Microsoft 365. I was able to customize my purchase. I added RAM and a bigger hard drive. Once It arrived I realized how technology has advanced since I last used a laptop. I'm an old duffer, so this new laptop has a bit of a learning curve to it. But I am really happy with it.

This laptop was for a young lady, and she was surprised. Now she can make things happen. Laptop has size, memory, storage, aspect and performance better that than she wanted. Happy with my new laptop

Very Disappointed
I would not recommend this laptop, and would not purchase it again. The overall build quality looks and feels "cheap." It feels very fragile during use. Cheap plastic. The keyboard is one of the worst I have ever used - the keys feel cheap and "plasticky," and do not seem that they will hold up over time or extensive use. The trackpad is not smooth textured, but not fully textured, either - just slightly "rough." You can hear every finger stroke on the pad, Hopefully, this will wear down over time and use. The case is textured on all surfaces. The texture traps and shows EVERY little piece of dust, and makes cleaning more difficult. Also, the texture seems to highlight any oils from your fingers and hands. The screen is average, at best.
I didn't think I was such a build-quality "snob," but when I received this laptop and compared it to other laptops I have owned and used, including Chromebooks - some being as much as 9 years old - this laptop feels VERY subpar, and I choose not to use it, when given the chance.

Great things come in small packages
I bought this 14
I needed a light, small laptop to easily move around my house, yard and garage for ordinary tasks and streaming. I am surprised at the speed for a basic, inexpensive laptop with an i3 processor. It immediately recognizes every device I add and downloads the proper driver with no effort on my part. I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase.

Brought 2 laptops in Dec 2019 and yesterday out of no where intel optane h10 SSD nve pci failed. Laptop will not boot and out of 1 year warranty. important data is suddenly lost.

Won't charge!
This computer works fine when it's open and in use however when I close the lid the computer will not charge. Spend hours on the phone with tech support and they did not fix the issue. I gave up dealing with tech support and spent an hour on the phone with customer service to set up a return. When I returned the computer to HP they charged me $63 for a restocking fee on this broken computer.
