Rated 4 out of 5 by jai41 from Powerful beast I bought this a year ago, super-fast and powerful. The screen is amazing and got this for a deal. I got 32gb ram, 1tb ssd, intel core i7, 4kuhd touch screen, and a rtx 3050. This computer is a beast. The problem with this computer is that sometimes the fans get really loud, poor battery life, and got terrible speakers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Erich_ from Fast, but with quality issues and other issues This is my 2 or 3 HP laptop. My last two have been very good and lasted me a long time. Unfortunately I bought this computer during the time of which there were great chip shortages. I don't ultimately blame HP for that though. There seem to be some differences in quality in comparison to my previous devices. I'll start with the battery- which is kind of a joke to be honest. Only a 4-hour battery life?! Are you serious? When running at full capacity (editing photos, running YouTube and other things in the background) you don't even get 4 hours, it's more like 2. At first, I thought there was an issue with my computer because it was draining so fast. But I quickly realized that was just how it was. It's rather disappointing that HP would put such a lackluster battery in a powerful computer. Other things I have noticed is, as mentioned in other reviews, is some glitchy things like black screens. These don't take out your computer entirely. Instead, they happen for a few seconds for no obvious reason at all. For example, I'll be watching YouTube, and when going to another tab It'll glitch out showing me a black screen for 3-5 seconds, then go back to being normal again. Another glitch with this laptop that is also pretty minor, but a bit annoying is that it'll become slow for a few seconds when multi tasking. If I am running something, whether it's internet browsing or editing photos, playing video games, then I attempt to click on the sound settings, the mouse will glitch out and be slow, as well as the video I'm watching including the sound which will seemingly glitch as well becoming almost static and sounding awful, but then it all goes back to normal. My YouTube video will also slow down and then speed back up to where it's supposed to be for the duration of this glitch. It also happens when plugging in and unplugging my battery charger. It's honestly the strangest occurrence. One other thing that was also mentioned by other people is the fans. For some reason the fans are so loud when they're at full blast. It sounds god awful. This mostly happens if I'm running and application that demands high energy or even if I plug my computer in to charge. I don't understand why they're so loud but it's not super great. My friend's laptop has a setting that lets you control the fans though and optimize cooling, which this computer doesn't have. Kinda wish it did though. And because the battery kinda sucks, you have to leave your computer plugged in when playing video games like Rocket League (even when you just bought your computer and it's less than a year old SMH). Finally, I'll mentioned this one last flaw, which is some of the exterior flaws. My gripes are pretty much with the hinge. I don't know if it's just a poor design, but it has already started making some creaking sounds and it's less than a year old. In addition to this, the top of the hinge that meets/is attached to the screen part is uneven or crooked. It actually looks like someone cut it not straight with a bandsaw, and it's only on the left side of the hinge too. This seems like something that shouldn't be prevalent on a $1,000+ laptop. Were your quality control testers sleeping when they looked it over, HP? Alright, now that I've gotten the harsh criticism out of the way, I wanted to point out the good. First off, it's FAST. I've been very impressed with this from the start. When you first boot up the computer, it takes it like 2 seconds to load up and get to the welcome screen where you sign in. Second off is the screen. I opted for the 15.6" diagonal 4K UHD, UWVA, BrightView, micro-edge, AMOLED, multitouch-enabled, edge-to-edge glass, 400 nits (3840 x 2160) configuration, and it's gorgeous! It's fantastic for editing photos, playing video games, watching YouTube videos, etc. It has great performance for video games! I like the overall design of the exterior; the silver color is nice, and the keyboard feels nice to type on. It also does good with multitasking.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Anon2848 from Unreliable Laptop Backed by Unreliable Service I bought this laptop in October of 2021. It took about until January for it to arrive. Excited as I was to receive it, everything ran smooth for about a week until the problems occurred. Videos were stuttering, the laptop itself was giving me a black screen flickering. After multiple days of troubleshooting every issue including a hard reset of the entire laptop, I had no luck. Contacted customer service who said I had to opt for another warranty for the issue to be resolved, so I had no luck there. I even opted for greater customization with 4K resolution just to be disappointed in the end. After all is said and done, I will not be making a purchase like this again. Extremely disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BriAz from Great laptop but subpar keyboard design Exceeded my expectations. I love the Envy line and upgraded from my old Envyx360. The only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars is due to the keyboard. I wished I had the option for the keyboard with the numeric keys on the right. Also the fingerprint scanner occupies space where the right handed control key used to exist. Not having a control key on the right has been rather annoying.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Jay_Kay from Disappointed I've been a long-time purchaser of HP computers. Unfortunately this latest purchase simply isn't living up to the quality I've come to expect from HP. The screen flickers and loses function, the fan is incredibly loud...I could go on. Haven't found any help on HP help sites and chat function. It's my first Envy purchase so not sure if the issues are common Envy issues or I just got a lemon. :(

Rated 1 out of 5 by Spokane55 from Appears to be low quality Got the laptop and fired it up. Used it for about 3 weeks and then it died. Tried to work with support. Went through a few procedures with them and then did construct a recovery usb drive. That did not work. As of now it is not even a good anchor. Will try again with support to see if they can come up with something else. This is my 3rd HP laptop and may well be my last. The quality does not appear to be very good. As of now would not recommend HP to anyone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Hemingray9 from HP Custom Built ENVY 15 DOA (Dead On Arrival) The computer arrived DOA (Dead On Arrival), would not boot or charge. The computer was sent to HP warranty product repair and just came back today. HP Product repair replaced the battery and connector cable. After this repair the computer will still not turn on at all! I will have to re-send back to HP Product repair again. This was a custom built computer and I was really looking forward to having a real nice computer, but now all I have is a useless brick! I have always purchase HP computers and printers and have never had any issues until now. I am hopeful that you will reach out to me and make this right.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Quaduck from Powerful workstation that's best left plugged-in I have a 2020 version of this laptop with Intel 10750h processor and 2060 Max-Q GPU, OLED 4K screen, but according to reviews this 2021 model is updated only internally, so all my observations should still apply. For context I switched to my 2020 Envy 15 from a 2012 MacBook Pro 15. TLDR: Powerful well-designed laptop that works best as a portable workstation that has to be plugged-in. Pros: - 4K OLED screen is beautiful and it has touch-screen functionality, which is rare for an OLED screen - a nice bonus. - Vapor chamber cooling system - this kind of cooling radiator is usually only found on high-end gaming laptops. In layman terms this means that this laptop will be able to perform better than other laptops with the same CPU/GPU. With some optimization I got top-10 scores in 3DMark TimeSpy benchmark test leaderboard among all 10750H/2060MaxQ laptops. - Keyboard is very satisfying to type on - I like it better than MacBook Pro keyboards (2012 and 2018) that I've used before. - Build quality is solid and I really like the minimalist understated design of this laptop - There’s a good selection of ports - watch out though, apparently only top-end 2060/3060 GPU models have a Thunderbolt port - if that’s something you need. - Upgradeability is great, which was one of my primary deciding factors. You can easily open the case and there are 2 user-accessible PCIe SSD storage slots and 2 RAM slots. I already got rid of Intel Optane in the 2nd slot (it was useless) and replaced the main drive with a faster 2TB SSD. Cons: Battery life is just bad - I get less than 4 hours just editing code and browsing internet. Watching YouTube videos in high resolution or using 3D applications can be as little as 2hrs. Be prepared to carry charging brick with you everywhere. Not sure maybe something is wrong with my particular battery. I don’t like the feel of the touchpad on this - physical click feels squishy and imprecise, though I prefer using a wireless mouse with a PC in any case. Fingerprint sensor worked like 60% of the time, so I stopped using it altogether HP Command Center software stopped working properly after a recent Windows update - now I can’t control fans manually, only auto modes seem to work, and they sometimes do not detect high CPU load at all, letting it throttle. I hope this will be solved with an update by HP. Overall: It fits my use case as a portable creative workstation quite well. I can use Unity, Blender, VS Code, and do some gaming on the side too, while plugged-in at a desk most of the time. I was thinking of upgrading to this 2021 model for the even faster processor and GPU, but unfortunately the RTX3060 option that I want seems to have disappeared.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous0192837465 from Overall a great laptop! This is an incredible laptop for the price and it deserves a higher rating. It annoys me that many of the one-star reviews are complaints about customer service and delivery time, not the product itself. The performance for the price is way more than what I could have asked for as someone who plays games casually (up to around 110 FPS in some graphics-intensive games @ 1080p with mid-high graphics; I bought i7 w/ 3050ti). Even though this is not a gaming laptop, it runs games very well, which is something you don't normally see for something this cheap and visually pleasing. The build quality is great, it looks good, and feels quite durable. The only issues I have had so far that are worth mentioning are the buggy software and the NVIDIA drivers causing crashes, but I know that both are out of HP's control and my driver issues were easily solvable. Overall, from the performance to the ports to the battery life, it fits all of my needs and exceeded my expectations. For potential buyers, here is a list of pros and cons: Pros: - great performance - good screen - great design and build quality - stays very cool, even under load (i have never seen GPU or CPU exceed 70 C) Cons: - the fans can get LOUD, but when doing minor tasks it is pretty quiet. - poor speakers with very little bass - Resource-demanding tasks will probably drain the battery quickly Unfortunately there isn't much else I can say about battery life because I have mine plugged in 90% of the time

Rated 1 out of 5 by d2001 from Awful battery issues Purchased the 13 inch version of this laptop a while ago, and after about 6 months, the battery started inflating to the point where the trackpad broke and the laptop itself couldn't close properly. Additionally, even though it has a great CPU, memory, and graphics card, it could barely run some FPS games on the lowest settings at 20 FPS.

Rated 1 out of 5 by SadFrog from Great Laptop for Eating all your Money guys, you shouldnt buy something like this product. The customer service is asanine when it comes to requesting a return, but they would be more than happy to place an order for you. Of course it would be like this, and whatever that review mentioned earlier about later than expected shipping times is definitely true. I've always had high hopes for hp products but after 5 months of waiting for this laptop, I've been nothing more than the complete opposite of satisfied.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Brixon from Below Average Delivery Time I placed an order on December 1st and then I get a mail saying it will be delivered only on January 6th. Why is it so late! And also, why doesn't anyone in call center know anything about money refund and order cancellation. So frustrated and disappointed. Never buying any product from HP now. No call center are willing to help... such a nice responsibility.

Rated 1 out of 5 by amm151 from Most unreliable computer I’ve ever had Used this computer for only two weeks, and the computer already won’t turn on. Charger works perfectly fine, took it to Best Buy to confirm this. The problem is the computer itself, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS, PLEASE! As a college student, I wanted a reliable laptop, and this computer is everything but that. And yes, I’m a real human being, figured I would say that upfront :)
