It is the initial year you get with your device along with the year you pay for in this package. Do not purchase it is a waste and the money is better off spent taking your device to geek squad or not buying HP at all.

It was stated from the beginning that is should happen within the first 2 week. Now I have to contact customer service for this information.

Is this available for extended warranty on a laptop with expired warranty or only for new laptop?

HP Care Packs are only available on HP products that are new or are still covered by the original one-year manufacturer's warranty.

Is there any insurance package which covers all including breakage, theft or loss? I go to work in a remote area and I want to be sure that my laptop and my data is insured.
