Rated 1 out of 5 by ESCB from Set Up is MISERABLE Just bought this HP printer. Lost an entire day fixing numerous set up issues that appear to be standard for many other users. Want to print from PDF Files? Be sure to uninstall and reinstall adobe acrobat pro or you won't be able to print. Want to print from your phone using the HP Smart App? Be prepared for a long, cumbersome process that continually requires you to log back in.. The desktop app is also very cumbersome as is the account you are forced to create to activate the printer and grant permission to other users. Lots of complication for what should be a very simple process.

It shows up as offline to workstations and we have to unplug the printer to reset it since the power button does not turn the machine off. Why can’t I just plug it in, set a static IP and use the dang printer??? HP makes you go through this stupid account setup and activation and without that the printer is useless. We buy a lot of HP’s for our business. Since I buy them for our region, I will not be buying anymore HP’s. I don’t want them monitoring our printing and I don’t like being forced to register an account just to use a printer. All so they can force you to buy their ink/toner.

Quality is excellent, crisp and dark. As a copier it’s fast too. No scanner warm-up needed and prints come out quickly. 2 sided printing is available from 2 separate scanned documents or can be done as separate copies. That is chosen from the LCD display. The document feeder works fast but the “slides” on the edges must be adjusted next to your originals or you will get skewed copies appearing slanted.

I guess, to get this to work it has to be connected at all times. I tried getting a pairing code a few times and this failed for about an hour and now I'm done. It sound like it will not work unless connected at all time to the internet. I was hoping to get the pairing code and then it might work but it is basically bricked out of the box for me. Returning and going to look for last years modal, those work great! If I could I would bill HP for the 3 hours I will never get back in my life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by kyyolu22 from Perfect Printer for Everyday Use This was my first experience with a Laser Printer, as opposed to an Inkjet. As a teacher who is constantly printing worksheets, lesson plans and activity pages throughout the week, I needed a printer that was both quick and consistent. Set-up was fairly seamless and easy-to-understand. Connecting to my wireless network was simple, although with our occasionally unstable network connection it did take a few tries to establish the initial connection. Otherwise, no issues with the initial start-up! It was also critical that I found a printer which would not cost me loads on ink - especially given my past experiences with using printers that quickly have the ink dry up. The toner cartridges that the LaserJet uses are a great alternative, that already seem to give me an abundance of prints with crisper quality, without immediately running “low” or drying out, as other printers ink cartridges have. On top of this, the speed at which the printer prints is remarkable. With my last printer, I would have to wait 5-10 minutes just to get a few copies made, but with this LaserJet the minutes have turned to mere seconds! It’s an absolute dream, as it doesn’t take too much of my time away from my classroom and students. I’ve always loved the convenience of being able to print directly from my phone with the click of a button - this printer works great at doing so. I can print from my classroom and go retrieve my prints from the office without issue. The range is exceptional. I will note though that I am still trying to figure out how to get my tablet connected to the printer, so that I don’t have to email my documents to myself to print them from my phone. I’m hoping to figure this out soon because it would definitely save me a little bit of trouble! On another note, I do appreciate that this printer is not as big and bulky as I initially anticipated it would be. It actually fits perfectly on the desk in the office, despite being a larger than the last printer. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this printer to those who have an everyday need to print documents - especially my fellow teachers and office workers. It is fast, reliable, and provides great quality prints, copies & scans all at the click of a button! Please Note: I received this printer for free in exchange for my honest review and impression.

Some of the features included scan and fax capability. I had to figure out how to set it on quiet mode because it was louder than I wanted. The process of doing that was simple. If I had one complaint it would be that I don't have a color option. Overall, I feel it is definitely a top of the line office printer.

Overall, it functions well, (prints in BW, has an ADF and scan/fax functions) but I am an IT specialist and the wireless installation took over an hour with constant errors. It took 4 tries using 3 different installation methods to get it done. I am also not thrilled that this printer is connected to the internet at all times. I value privacy, and I was forced to accept the HP+ conditions in order to get the printer to install (one of those conditions was having to us OEM ink). I was, thankfully, able to opt out of several invasive marketing options, as well as the instant ink auto replenishment program. I will keep this connected until the cartridge runs out but I probably go back to my 15- year old HP LaserJet 1505 "brick", as it serves me just fine.

Set-up was a little time-consuming if a user would like to use all of the features including wireless printing and scanning, etc. due to entering codes back and forth from various devices. Once the set-up is complete, the printer works well: pages print quickly and correctly, and I love the double-sided printing feature. The smaller footprint of the unit is also appreciated. One of the potential problems is that it only works with HP-branded toner cartridges due to an embedded chip, and if HP stops making the toner cartridges or the price skyrockets, the printer will be useless. Otherwise, it's perfect for a small business or home office that has strong wifi, with a handful of users. Recommended!

It took me about 25 minutes and I am not the quickest with understanding setups. As for printing speed, it is wonderful so quick and easy. I was able to print out 50 flyers for a work thing literally five before I had to leave for work. I love that it is an all in one. The fact that it is wireless too is perfect because I print so much from my iPhone. The touchscreen is a neat thing too. It is very clear to see and you don't have to repeatedly touch it to get what you want. All in all, a wonderful machine.

Hello. Thanks for your question. Yes, you can set up the HP ePrint on this HP LaserJet Pro MFP 4101fdwe Printer. HP ePrint essentially gives your printer an email address. As long as it is connected to the wireless network, you can email it from anywhere and the printer will print the email and its attachments. When I scan a document with several pages, it comes out as separate scans. How can I make the scan result as one document?

The ADF allows you to scan up to 50 pages and save the scanned document as a single PDF.
