Rated 5 out of 5 by DaveT52 from Great laptop! Love it! Everything I expected. I was specifically looking for a laptop with a metal body (too many damaged plastic laptops) and a lighted keyboard. This ENVY has both. Seems a little low on storage, but hopefully it will be fine. After using it for a few weeks I have only one complaint... The <delete> key is in the far upper right corner of the keyboard, right next to the Power key which is identical, very easy to mistake it.

The only problem I have is trying to reverse the use of the fn keys, and so far everything I've tried hasn't worked. Nothing on the website has helped, so I'm stuck using the external keyboard all the time, which affects where I can use this laptop. Otherwise, I'm satisfied.

Pros: - Font on keys is large and easy to read - Fingerprint scanner is handy - Speed and response for touch screen and touch pad is great - 360 movement is smooth - Battery life is about 8 hours Cons: - The screen blinks to black pretty often whenever you actively type (it's a quick flash but interrupts whatever you're doing) - Poor sound quality so you have to turn the volume up 80+ - Power button is next to the delete button so easy to accidentally press

I purchased my HP Envy convertible about a year and a half ago, and I am already having hardware issues. These specific convertible designs seem to have a manufacturing defect in the hinges. My right hinge just broke apart one day as I was opening my laptop. I didn't drop or damage it. Because the monitor is attached at the hinge, it also busted open at the bottom and little plastic pieces on the inside fell out. HP customer service is impossible to deal with. I am no longer under warranty and do not want to spend over $400 for another monitor. So I'm taking this as a loss. I backed up everything on my computer to an external and will be purchasing another laptop in the future. A waste of $1200 at Best Buy. I will never buy another HP laptop again. My sister also has an HP laptop, and it completely died on her 11 months after purchase. HP should be ashamed of themselves for selling these pieces of junk computers.
