HP Helps Clients Improve Business Performance Through Connected Intelligence

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- HP today announced that organizations around the world are adopting its business intelligence solutions to gain competitive advantage, creating new business opportunities.

Financial institutions, telecoms, manufacturers, retail wholesalers and healthcare insurance providers are working with HP to connect intelligence across their organizations to realize the full value of information assets and make real-time business decisions.

Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan (CDPHP)

For example, Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan (CDPHP®), an Albany, N.Y.-based health benefits provider, uses HP business intelligence solutions to connect data from financial, claims, clinical and third-party systems. This allows them to more effectively analyze and optimize patient care. Through the implementation of an enterprise data warehouse that integrates healthcare data from multiple sources and the establishment of a Business Intelligence Competency Center, HP helped CDPHP reduce operational costs by improving its information management capabilities and optimizing healthcare delivery protocols.

In the finance and banking sector, Webank, a Bipiemme Group company in Italy, changed its business model in 2009 to become a direct bank that operates exclusively via the internet. Webank wanted to maintain the level of customer service offered by traditional banks while providing an online platform that delivers on the needs of its customers. A new multibank and multichannel system developed by HP allows Webank to quantify and qualify the performance of the web channel for customers of all of Bipiemme Group’s banks.

“We needed to understand how the online service can work better for our business and looked to HP to help us obtain the information we needed,” said Carlo Panella, commercial director, Webank. “With HP, we have created a new enterprise data warehouse that is highly integrated with the entire bank’s information system. This allows us to have a single integrated database, with all relevant information needed to deliver on the needs of the business and our customers.”

DB Schenker

DB Schenker, a leader in the transportation and logistics industry, needs to ensure that cargo reaches its destination safely and securely. To successfully maintain customer satisfaction and business efficiency, DB Schenker employees must reliably access data from a single, authorized source. Working with HP, DB Schenker adopted a company-wide supply chain master data management (MDM) strategy to integrate its business processes and IT systems. The integration ensures all master data is held, maintained and distributed centrally, in real time, to the transport management systems.

“We need the ability to ensure that a dispatch arrives at the correct address in the shortest possible time, even if it is transported around the globe,” said Peter Schumann, chief information officer, DB Schenker. “With the help of HP, we set up an MDM system that allows us to confirm that all transactions run smoothly and with high data quality, which leads to faster, more exact order processing and improved customer satisfaction.”

Kokubu & Co.

Kokubu & Co., the largest food and liquor wholesaler in Japan, provides more than 600,000 products to a broad base of domestic retailers. Kokubu needed to consolidate its purchase, sales and profit data into a single data warehouse to simplify its analytical environment and allow better, more rapid decision making. With HP Neoview Advantage, Kokubu can now meet the service-level agreements required by the business, deliver nonstop line of sight, and examine item- and price-level information in a single system.
