Press Release:

HP and Deloitte Consulting Establish Global Alliance to Deliver Collaborative Solutions for Manufacturing Enterprises

Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HWP) and Deloitte Consulting today announced a global alliance to jointly develop and deliver collaborative solutions for customers in the manufacturing sector. The solutions are designed to enable these customers to more rapidly achieve the benefits of establishing common product information processes within their distributed design and supply chains.

Combining HP's proven technologies and strong complementary service capabilities with Deloitte Consulting's recognized leadership in business consulting and solution delivery, the alliance's initial focus and solution development will center on product lifecycle collaboration (PLC), a framework to support collaborative product development and lifecycle management. Three key enablers drive effective PLC environments: a high degree of collaboration, common business processes and effective use of sustaining technologies, including the Internet.

HP powers and secures PLC with a flexible computing infrastructure and the HP Netactionsoftware suite for an always-on business. HP and Deloitte leverage internally developed and tested process tools and templates to establish a baseline for common business processes. HP Consulting's rapid methodology and Deloitte Consulting's diagnostic-driven consulting and solutions implementation services reduce the time required to lay the foundation for PLC solutions.

"Early adopters are increasingly recognizing 30 to 50 percent development cycle reductions from product lifecycle collaboration. However, rapidly realizing those benefits can be a daunting task with complex issues like unreconciled process maturity levels and poor interoperability between mission-critical technologies," said Vasco Drecun of D.H. Brown Associates. "We are pleased to see HP and Deloitte Consulting distill from their combined experiences a complete framework for rapid implementation. Manufacturers clearly need comprehensive and executable roadmaps that HP and Deloitte Consulting now offer that deliver business benefits faster to further spur adoption of PLC."

The alliance between Deloitte Consulting and HP is an element of HP's Partner Enablement Program for manufacturing customers. The program aims to drive faster connection, management and collaboration of key allies in an e-business framework.

"This alliance builds on what HP has learned about the benefits of highly collaborative business environments from the combined deployment experience of Deloitte Consulting and HP Consulting," said Airton Gimenes, vice president of sales, HP Business Customer Organization. "Together, we hope to offer similar results to our joint customer base."

"Manufacturers are driving to accelerate product innovation to keep pace with dynamic market conditions," said John Southcott, Americas Practice Leader for Manufacturing, Deloitte Consulting. "By leveraging the combined experiences of Deloitte Consulting and HP, those manufacturers can achieve the full benefits of product lifecycle collaboration in a shorter time frame and mitigate the risks."
