Press Release:

HP Canada and Université de Montréal to Improve the On-campus Computing Experience

Leading University Standardizes on HP PCs to Enhance Teaching Tools and Reduce Computing Costs

Hewlett-Packard (Canada) Ltd. and the Université de Montréal today announced that the university has elected to standardize on HP desktop and notebook PCs campus-wide to improve the computing experience of faculty members and to lower the university's total computing costs. HP will work with INSO, a Montreal-based HP-authorized value-added reseller, to provide the equipment and technical support.

The Université de Montréal's DGTIC (the Information Technology Department of the University) faculty and administration, as well as other eligible faculty members, will benefit from the high-performance and reliability offered by HP Vectra vl400 desktop PCs and HP Omnibook 6000 notebook PCs. Now all teachers can take advantage of their networked classrooms by using HP's leading-edge PCs in the preparation and delivery of their lectures. The HP PCs provided will help faculty in their research and development projects as well as their administrative work. University network administrators also will benefit from an IT environment that is secure, reliable and easy to manage and support.

"We're thrilled the Université de Montréal has chosen to standardize on HP desktop and notebook PCs," said Lloyd Bryant, vice president, Business Customer Sales Organization, HP Canada . "HP looks forward to furthering its relationship with the Université de Montréal by deploying HP technology that will reduce costs, be easy to use and help cultivate a strong learning environment at the university."

"We are currently standardized on HP printers so we know the quality and reliability of the HP brand and see distinct advantages in building a closer relationship with HP," said Pierre Bordeleau, associate vice rector, IT, Université de Montréal. "By deploying HP technology as the standard across our campus, we are making a strong investment that will lower our IT costs in the long run."

HP Canada plans to provide complete support for the university through ongoing technical support and services with INSO. To help ensure a smooth deployment and migration of HP technology to the university, INSO will provide on-site support technicians and a dedicated team to take calls, trouble shoot issues and streamline the service and support process.

"It's great to work with HP in delivering solutions and services that simplify and lower the cost of the computing experience for the Université de Montréal," said Dimo Tsakpinoglou, CEO, INSO Technology. "We are pleased to continue to work with HP in providing end-to-end support and services for their industry-leading products."
