HP Unveils Touch-enabled Point-of-sale System for Retail Stores

NEW YORK NY. -- HP todayintroduced a touch-enabled point-of-sale (POS) system for retailersseeking to cost-effectively manage their businesses.

Easy to use, the HP ap5000All-in-One POS System features a self-contained combination ofproducts that removes the guesswork for retailers wanting to createa comprehensive POS hardware solution. The compact system maximizeswork space and includes a central processing unit, touch-enableddisplay, magnetic stripe reader and either a two-line customerdisplay or a 10.4-inch LCD customer display to enhance promotionalactivities.

The high-performance HP ap5000 is built to handle the rigorousdemands of retail environments. Its space-saving design requiresonly one power outlet, reducing cable clutter and making it idealfor retailers requiring a sleek design for customer-facing areas,such as hospitality and specialty retail environments.

HP TouchSmart hardware powers new kiosk solution

HP also announced its TouchSmart hardware is powering independentsoftware vendor partner Escalate Retail’s new Interactive StoreKiosk. The kiosk at Escalate allows multiple points of touchcontact simultaneously and allows shoppers to “grab” digitalinformation with their hands and interact with on-screen contentthrough touch and gesture. Kiosk customers can:

  • access Escalate’s entire product catalog, known as the “endlessaisle”;
  • browse video content that is relevant to their shoppingchoices;
  • view Escalate’s latest social networking stream; and
  • read customer reviews.

HP at the National Retail Federation Convention andExpo

HP will be showcasing its latest technology addressing thisimportant market at the National Retail Federation Convention andExpo at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York. Conferenceattendees can experience HP’s entire portfolio of retail-focusedproducts and services – including the new HP ap5000 All-in-One POSSystem, professional-quality visual collaboration from HPSkyRoom and high-resolution digital signagedisplays – at booth 528.
