Press Release:

HP Unveils New Version of OpenView Smart Plug-in for PeopleSoft

ANAHEIM, Calif., PeopleSoft Connect, Sept. 17, 2003

As part of its efforts to help businesses adaptively manage their information technology infrastructures, HP (NYSE:HPQ) today rolled out version 2.0 of the HP OpenView Smart Plug-in integration for PeopleSoft environments.

Supporting the latest HP OpenView, PeopleTools and OS applications, this version provides customers additional insights into the database, application server and Web tier through enhancements within other HP OpenView smart plug-ins, such as BEA Tuxedo and WebLogic and Oracle database.

The HP OpenView Smart Plug-in integration for PeopleSoft extends HP OpenView to offer customers simplified configuration through consistent coordination with other HP OpenView smart plug-ins. It allows organizations to gain visibility and manageability over their PeopleSoft environments and enables them to increase availability and lower their operational costs. The new smart plug-in also:

  • Discovers components of a PeopleSoft environment and understands dependencies;
  • Notifies users of critical situations and provides guidance for problem resolution;
  • Analyzes the impact of components in a PeopleSoft environment on the overall availability and performance of the PeopleSoft solution;
  • Collects, stores and visualizes measurement data about critical PeopleSoft resources;
  • Measures availability and performance of the PeopleSoft solution from the end-user perspective;
  • Enables IT organizations to report about the PeopleSoft solution to stakeholders within the company; and
  • Supports key operational activities.

HP and PeopleSoft have been collaborating for 15 years, offering a combination of innovative thinking and enterprise experience to deliver solutions that can help customers achieve faster time to solution with reduced risk - essential components for any business transforming itself into an adaptive enterprise.
